Glen Brasel

Glen Brasel, 99, of Elm Springs, whose son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Twyla Brasel, reside in Coal Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, in Rogers.
He was a native of Jasper, son of the late Rich and Zona Casey, retired poultry farmer, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Jo Slaughter and son-in-law, Johnny.
Other survivors are his wife, Mary (Libby) Brasel; three daughters, Shirley Patton and husband, Coy, of Elm Springs, and Gail Simpson and husband, Mark, and Marsha Simpson and husband, Terry, all of Gainesville, Ga.; two brothers, Walter Brasel of Jasper and Joe Brasel of Coal Hill; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the chapel of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale with Jimmy Allen and Coy Patton officiating. Burial will be in Friendship cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Backstom-Pyeatte Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Robinson Avenue Church of Christ Youth Department.

Honie L. Laster

Honie L. Laster, 78, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, in Fort Smith.
She was a retired English teacher serving the Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso, Texas, for 33 years, the El Paso Community College for 11 years and served as department chair in English at the Ysleta Independent School District for four years. She was a volunteer for the Battered Women's Shelter in El Paso, Texas, and was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Fort Smith. She received a bachelor of arts degree from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas, and a master's degree from the University of Texas at El Paso.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Sue Lucas-Laster of El Paso, Texas; and numerous cousins in Clarksville, Fort Smith and Ozark.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at St. John's Episcopal Church under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Her remains will be placed in the Columbarium of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 215 North 6th Street, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Ishmal E. Smith

Ishmal Elwood Smith, 91, of Lamar died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.
He was a son of the late Virgil E. and Martha Dobbs Smith, Baptist, retired coal miner, construction employee and heavy equipment operator, and was preceded in death by one son, Earnest Lee (Buck) Smith; one brother, Winford Smith; and three sisters, Irene Baulkam, Flora McKnight and Sybil Warren.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Bell Brown Smith; three daughters, Dorothy Sue Cummings of Gore, Okla., Marilyn Ruth Holt of Lamar and Brenda Joyce Elsey of Bryant; one son, James Clyde Smith of Malvern; one sister, Imogene Hubbard of Hartman; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Lamar cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ashley Birkhahn, Arthur Brandenburg, Ronnie Zachary, Andy Graham, Kenny Bridgewater, Wayne Warren, J. D. Hubbard, and James Mize.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

James H. Boen

James Henry Boen, 80, of Clarksville died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006.
He was a son of the late Elvin Arbin and Nora Shatswell Boen, World War II Army veteran, retired from the structural steel fabrication industry, affiliated with the Pentecostal Church where he had served as Sunday school teacher, superintendent, and deacon, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Patty Shepperd; and two brothers, Larry (Steve) Boen and Marion Boen.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Whitaker Boen; three daughters, Janet McGinnis of Alma, Yvonne Williams of Ozark and Karen Carty of Mulberry; one son, Leroy Boen of Paris; one sister, Mereda Freeman of Mulberry; three stepsons, Kenneth Reed of Alma, Johnny Reed of Little Rock and Randy Reed of Lamar; two stepdaughters, Teresa Lamproe of Russellville and Sherry Waters of Muskogee, Okla.; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. William Hickman officiating. Burial will be in West Mount Zion cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Whorton, Melvin Vinson, Kurt Loyd, Gerald Titsworth, Earl Halstead, and Billy Hughes.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Johnson County Health Department In-Home Services, Attn: Hospice, 22 Sherwood Plaza, Clarksville, AR 72830.

James W. Morgan

James Wilson Morgan, 81, of North Little Rock, brother of Aimee Elizabeth Hodge of Clarksville, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006.
He was a son of the late Roy and Mary Morgan and was preceded in death by one brother, Bon Morgan.
Other survivors are one son, David Morgan of Menifee; two grandchildren, Jason Scott Morgan of Little Rock and Rachel Elizabeth Morgan of Conway; one great-grandson, Logan Morgan; sister-in-law, Joan Morgan of Little Rock; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Marguerite West.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood with Paul Rice officiating.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72206.

Orville E. Pearson

Orville E. Pearson, 85, of Lamar died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at his home.
He was a son of the late James M. and Sarah J. Morris Pearson, retired farmer, World War II Army veteran, and was preceded in death by five brothers, Virgil Pearson, Beryl Pearson, Leroy Pearson, Durard Pearson and Gordon Pearson; and three sisters, Hazel Stewart, Ruth Cooper and Louise Zachary.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda B. Daniel Pearson; one daughter, Linda K. Pearson Wilkins of Lamar; two sons, James David Pearson of Lamar and Dennis Wayne Pearson of Little Rock; one sister, Betty James of Hagarville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Claude Froggatt officiating. Burial was in Minnow Creek cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James L. Pearson, Billy Joe Wilkins, Bryan Wilkins, Cory Kendall, Chad Kendall, and James Domerese.
Honorary pallbearers were John I. Blackard, Alvin James, Daniel E. Daniel, David Wyles, Johnny Kalcich, Dewayne Dlugosh, Buddy Clark, Jimmy Stewart, Tommy Selkirk, James Rainey, and Jerry (Whitecloud) Ogden.

Sinda Page

Sinda Page, 104, of Dover died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville.
A native of Treat, she was a daughter of the late Washington and Annie Ross, Baptist, and was preceded in death by five daughters, Hazel Ledford, Ruby Phillips, Katie Ragsdale, Pauline Ramsey and Joyce Loyd; and two sons, James Page and Harvey Page.
She is survived by one daughter, Juanita Wilson of Dover; 39 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with George Boyd officiating. Burial was in Shannon cemetery at Treat.

Walter Chavers

Walter (Dub) Chavers, 75, of Knoxville died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, in Ozark Nursing Home.
A son of the late John and Pamsey Atwell Chavers, he was of the Pentecostal faith, and was preceded in death by five brothers, Ben, Hubert, Bill, Lee and Johnny Chavers; and five sisters, Lizzie Mefford, Viola Davis, Velma Woodard, Rosella Woodard and Mamie Marshall.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Chavers and wife, Marsha, of Atkins, Perry Chavers of Arkansas and Rickey Chavers of Texas; one brother, C. N. Chavers and wife, Freda, of Springdale; eight nieces, Dimple Cross of Hartman, Bonnie Nichols of Knoxville, Frances Beech, Louise Cully, and Donna Hughes of Clarksville, Lilly Wilson of Coal Hill, Imogene King of Ozone and Rosemary Mahon of North Little Rock; and one nephew, John Jennings of Knoxville.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the Knoxville cemetery with Rev. Eddie Birdsong officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
