Patsy Sparks
Patsy Sparks, 65, of Clarksville died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of Sikeston, Mo., and member of the Clarksville Church of Christ.
She is survived by four sisters, Velma Gilmer and Verla Kaye Clifton, both of Clarksville, and Elsie King and Laura Stone, both of Sikeston, Mo.; and four brothers, Thomas Allen Williams of Onalaska, Texas, David Williams and Roy Dean Williams, both of Ozark, and Roy Gean Williams of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Oden officiating. Burial was in Stillwell cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Joey Morehead, Lenny Morehead, David Griggs, Jeffrey Sparks, Jeffrey Kulp, and Chad Kendall.
Honorary pallbearers were Colby Morehead and Brian Jones.
Shirley J. Tolar
Shirley Jean Tolar, 52, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late Paul Eugene and Dorothy Lane Allen Tate.
Survivors include four daughters, Pamela M. Smith and Casey L. Bartlett, both of Lamar, Sara M. Freeman of Ozark and Sonya Tolar of Arkansas; three sons, James P. Smith of Russellville, Jason A. Hawkins of Louisiana and Michael J. Tolar of Clarksville; stepmother, Beatrice Tate of Clarksville; one brother, Vincent Tate of Rogers; two sisters, Brenda L. Tate of Arkansas and Nancy Ann Hurst of Clarksville; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Minniear officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.
Pallbearers will be Darren A. Smith, Matthew Pitts, Brandon Pitts, Craig Walker, Andrew Ham, and Jeff Gibson.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Velta P. Mills
Velta P. Mills, 85, of Clarksville died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.
A native of Hagarville, she was a daughter of the late Marion and Rhoda Freeman Hughes, widow of Cecil Mills, and a 28-year employee of Tasty Bird Foods prior to retiring in 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Nona Warren and Charlsie Butler and husband, Bruce, all of Clarksville; one sister, Wilma Owens of Temple, Texas; two brothers, Willie Hughes of Clarksville and Douglas Hughes of Advance, Mo.; four grandchildren and spouses, Debbie and John Beaupre, Stacey and Mark Granger, Jimmy and Bobbie Butler, and Rhett and Stacy Butler, all of Clarksville; five great-grandchildren, Courtney and Morgan Wilson and Ashley, Sean and Billy Butler, all of Clarksville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Oakland cemetery with Rev. James Freeman of San Jacinto, Calif., officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Albert (Al) Lorfing
Albert (Al) Lorfing, 87, of Clarksville died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1937 and Finley Engineering College in Kansas City, Kan., in 1938, served during World War II as a civilian employee of the U. S. Navy Department in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as an electrician, and owned and operated Sunnyside Truck Stop and Cafe from 1947 until his retirement in 1988. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Basham; and one grandson, Paul Moix.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Werner Lorfing; two sons and wives, Charles and Rhonda Lorfing of Clarksville and Louie and Louise Lorfing of Houston, Texas; four daughters and husbands, Carole and Robert Moix of Conway, Janet and Freeman Wish of Clarksville, Virginia and John Rosser of Key Biscayne, Fla., and Susan and Jimmy Dickerson of Del City, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Rosary service was held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father William Wewers officiating. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Wish, Loren Wish, Phillip Dickerson, Luke Moix, Larry Plugge, Charlie Plugge, Michael Werner, and Tom Werner.
Memorials may be made to the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Building Fund.
David V. Walker
David Vancie Walker, 60, of Scranton died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a mechanic, son of the late Harvey Delbert Walker and Vitah Marie Tyler, and was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Harvey Walker; and one sister, Francis Marie Walker.
He is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Hammer, and one stepdaughter, Lisa Phillips, of Sallisaw, Okla.; three brothers, John T. Walker of Alix, Herbert Lloyd Walker of Sallisaw, Okla., and Delbert E. Humphrey of McAlester, Okla.; and three sisters, Ann Powell, Lynn Walker, and Darlene Walker.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Scranton Park with John Holman officiating.
The body will be cremated. The cremains will be buried at Wares Chapel cemetery in Dublin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Meister, Larry Kern, Tensley Means, Curt Taylor, Rick Berry, John Holman, Jerry Smith, Allen Koeninsedes, and J. O. Dogen.
Everett M. Parsons
Everett McKinley Parsons, 90, of Lamar died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Countryside Manor Nursing.
He was a son of the late Thomas Edd and Rosie Pirshall Parsons, retired sawmill employee, member of the Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Wyatt, Lucinda Cowell, and Lela Childers; and one brother, John Parsons.
Survivors include his wife, Sena Bell Whorton Parsons; one daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Joe Cobb of Idaho; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Maureen Parsons of California and Bob and Carolyn Parsons of Lamar; two stepsons, David Blackard and wife, Bobby, of Fort Smith and William Blackard of Russellville; one stepdaughter, Jo Ann Dorn and husband, Melvin, of Dover; three sisters, Maxine Nordin of Lamar, Alma Galentine of Texas, and Lucille Kloth of California; one brother, Edward Parsons of Lamar; five grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and 13 step great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Euel Nordin officiating. Burial will be in the Graves cemetery at Delaware.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Nordin, Phillip Nordin, Chris Blackard, David Blackard, Carroll Williams, and William Henderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Miller and Ted Dorn.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Frances W. Leding
Frances Wilhelmina Leding, 65, of Ozark, sister of Beatrice Tate of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, in Fort Smith.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altus, native of Fort Smith, graduate of St. Scholastica Academy in Fort Smith and was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Wilhelmina Pickartz Leding.
She is also survived by two other sisters, Bernadine Dahlem and Loretta Melson, both of Altus.
Rosary was at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark. Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Hilary Filliatreau officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery at Altus.
Pallbearers were James Dahlem, Stephen Dahlem, Mark J. Leding, Vincent Tate, Clinton Yother, and Heath Hula.
