Faye Severn
Faye (Reynolds, Dunlap) Severn, on August 14, 2006, Mama went home to be with her Lord, due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident that occured May 15, 2006.
She was 79 years old, resided in London, and died in a Fort Smith hospital.
She was born Sept. 1, 1926 in Johnson County. Daughter of the late Bert and Annie Douglas Reynolds. She attended the Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Minnie Lee Dunlap Jr. and David Bruce Dunlap Sr.; and four grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey Severn; four daughters, Linda Shepherd and husband, Mike, of Lamar, Rita DeNike and husband, Jim, and Barbara Torres and husband, Rey, all of Clarksville, and Anna Myers and husband, John, of London; one son, Danny Dunlap of London; one stepson, Tommy George Severn and wife, Carol, of Gentry; three stepdaughters, Winnie Pipkins of Heavener, Okla., Mary Williams of Greenwood, and Anna Jo Hayes of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Billy Bert Reynolds of Coal Hill; one sister, Juanita Estep of Hartman; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ron Owen officiating. Burial was in the Hess cemetery at Coal Hill.
Pallbearers were R. D. Dunlap, Jody Smith, Jimmy Jack Butler, Andy Butler, Bruce Dunlap, David Lee Dunlap, and Daniel Dunlap.
Visitation was held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel.
Helen DeMarie
Helen DeMarie, 95, of Clarksville died Aug. 3, 2006, at Clarksville Convalescent Home.
She was a native of Providence, R. I., daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Robinski, widow of Francis DeMarie, member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Sarno and James Sarno.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Killane of Clarksville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The body was cremated.
Services will be held at a later date with burial at Holy Redeemer Catholic cemetery.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Noble R. Stone
Noble R. Stone, 73, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at his home in Dodge City, Kan.
A native of Fort Douglas, he was a son of the late Homer and Leva Terry Stone, a Dodge City, Kan., resident since 1959, owner and operator of Stone Septic Tank Service, former Dodge City police officer, Mason for 51 years and a past member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Velma C. Harden Stone; one son, David Stone of Dodge City, Kan.; two daughters, Betty Spease and husband, Kenneth, and Brenda Rowley and husband, Wayne, all of Dodge City, Kan.; one brother, Loman Stone and wife, Shirley, of Farmington, Mo.; one sister, Artie Detring of Farmington, Mo.; six grandchildren, Tara Stone, Christopher Stone, Jason Spease and wife, Nichole, Bradley Spease, Justin Littrel, and Jennifer McCarley and husband, Jon; and two great-grandchildren, Cassidy Spease and Brianna Spease, both of Dodge City, Kan.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Dodge City Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Mike Burns officiating.
Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery in Dodge City, Kan., under the direction of Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
Ora Mae Gotcher
Ora Mae Gould Gotcher, 93, of Clarksville died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
A native of the Harmony Community, she was a daughter of the late Jerd and Delia King Gould, and member of Clarksville First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Paul D. Gotcher and wife, Nita, of Fort Myers, Fla., and Patrick D. Gotcher and wife, Amy, of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Harmony Presbyterian Church.
Burial was in Harmony cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Paul Gotcher, Patrick Gotcher, Jimmy Gould, Kenny Elkins, West Gotcher, and Chris Gotcher.
Flora Mae Bacon
Flora Mae Bacon, 79, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Johnson County, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was a daughter of the late Lee and Tollie Palmer Wilson, widow of D. G. Bacon, Baptist, and retired Karsten Golf employee and seamstress.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Lee and Craig Hodge of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Lee and Helen Starr of Odessa, Texas, David Leon and Cathy Starr of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Joe and Meredith Johnson of Charlotte, N. C.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Gibbs, Peter Marks and Eric Reece.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Dr. Clyde Underwood
Dr. Clyde Hamilton Underwood, 72, of Clarksville died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at his home.
He was a son of the late Roger and Emma Hamilton Underwood and was preceded in death by one daughter, Katherine (Kathy) Underwood.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Perry Underwood; two sons, Donald Ray Underwood of Quitman and Randy C. Underwood of Malvern; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. The body will be cremated.
James W. Jones
James W. Jones, 75, of Tahlequah, Okla., formerly of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Aug. 1. 2006, in Tahlequah, Okla.
A native of the Stone Hill Community, he was the son of the late Johnny and Mandy Jones, graduate of the University of the Ozarks, served two years in the Army and completed his master's degree at the University of Arkansas in 1957. After teaching chemistry and physics at Clarksville High School for five years, he returned to the University of Arkansas and completed his educational doctorate degree in 1963. He then took a position in the teacher education program at Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Okla. In 1969, he was promoted to professor, a position he held until his retirement in 1986. He was an active member of the Tahlequah Bible Church since 1963 and was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Highfill of the Center Point Community; and one brother, Elmer Jones of Clarksville.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Chronister Jones; two daughters and families, Judy and Larry Myers and sons, Cody of Tahlequah, Okla., and Rhett of Coweta, Okla.; and Teresa and Marty Falling and daughters, Attalie of Riverton, Kan., and Bronwyn Huddleston and husband, Phillip, of Baxter Springs, Kan.; one brother, Ulus Jones of Clarksville; and one sister, Evleen Gipson of Kansas City, Kan.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, Okla., with Rev. Randy Proctor officiating. Burial was in the Tahlequah City cemetery.
Linda G. Manuel
Linda Gale Manuel, 59, mother of Kelly Collier of Lamar, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006.
She was a member of Sagemont Church.
Other survivors include one daughter, Renee Evans and husband, David, of Webster; parents, Earl and Mary Dell Manuel of Kenefick, Texas; three brothers; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Niday Funeral Home.
