Herman Hulsey
Herman Hulsey, former resident of Clarksville, died Thursday, July 20, 2006, in Paris, Texas.
He retired in 1990 as a field supervisor for Tyson Foods in Clarksville.
John W. Williamson
John W. Williamson, 86, of Clarksville died Monday, July 24, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Ozark, he was a son of the late John W. and Nora Evans Williamson, member of the Harmony Presbyterian Church, Navy veteran of World War II, and retired freight company manager. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ed Williamson; one grandson, Steven McCord; and one half-sister, Iva Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Garrett Williamson; one daughter, Jo McCord and husband, Ron, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one grandson, Jeff McCord of Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Presley McCord and Savannah McCord, both of Broken Arrow, Okla.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with burial in the Harmony cemetery.
Mary Jane Silvey
Mary Jane (Janie) Silvey, 57, of Clarksville died Thursday, July 20, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Wright Guinnip, retired Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department employee, and was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Haberlein.
Survivors include one daughter, Alicia Lynn Silvey Morrow of Clarksville; two brothers, Donald and Jesse Frank Guinnip of Clarksville; one sister, Cathrine Cowell of Clarksville; and three grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Boen officiating. Burial was in Fort Douglas cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Scott Guinnip, Roy Young, Brandon Young, Ronald Scarberry, Ronald Griffin, and Gerald Cowell.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Guinnip and Mark Manley.
Roberta J. Pixley
Roberta Jean Pixley, 52, of Mulberry, sister of Tonie Cross of Clarksville, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at her home. She was a native of Joplin, Mo.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Pixley; one daughter, Shavon McCowan of Mulberry; one son, Duaine Rye of Hot Springs; two stepsons, Bobby Pixley of Rudy and Jake Pixley of Greenwood; mother, Margie Baxter of Mulberry; one other sister, Viola Cheater of Van Buren; one brother, David Baxter of Winslow; and seven grandchildren.
The body was cremated. Arrangements were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Steele Hayes Colvin
Graveside services and burial for Steele "Hayes" Colvin, 86, of Eagle Point, Ore., who died Friday, July 14, 2006, at his home, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Holman cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
He was a World War II veteran, retired from McClellan Air Force Base after 32 years of service, and was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen Colvin.
Survivors include four sons, Fred Colvin, Jerry Colvin, Roger Colvin, and Robert Colvin; one brother, Ward Colvin; one sister, Gladys Smith; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verna L. Dennison
Verna Lee Dennison, 75, of Clarksville died Friday, July 21, 2006, at her home.
She was a Jehovah's Witness, daughter of the late Jasper and Ella Fern Dennison Hodges, widow of Albert R. Dennison, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, Roy and Albert Eugene Hodges; and two sisters, Clara Griffin and Belma Pedigo.
Survivors include five daughters, Donna Griffith and James, Sharon Bragg and David, and Carla Glenn and Joe, all of Clarksville, Bonnie Oldham and Kim of Denver, Colo., and Linda Dean and Randy Freeman of Springfield, Mo.; three sons, Albert Dennison and Debbie of Clarksville, and Mike Dennison and Kay and Rick Dennison and Wendy, all of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Robert Hodges of Springfield, Ill.; two sisters, Juanita Murphey and Kirby of Springfield, Ill., and Vonnie Fulcher; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Clarksville with Roy Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Crematory in Conway.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Calvin W. Poyner
Calvin Warren Poyner, 85, of Hartman died Monday, July 10, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late George W. and Judy Thompson Poyner, farmer and construction employee, Army veteran and of the Assembly of God faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Earlene Riley Poyner; two brothers, Wilburn Poyner and Sylvester (Red) Poyner; and three sisters, Dorothy Rowland, Ava Anglin, and Hazel Marvel.
Survivors are six daughters, Beverly Riddle and Kathy Sams, both of Hartman, Margaret Hill and Linda Freeman, both of Clarksville, Debbie Magby of Greenbrier, and Tammy Sampley of Tulsa, Okla.; three sons, Frank Poyner and James Poyner, both of Hartman, and Michael Poyner of Russellville; one brother, Carl Poyner of Hartman; two sisters, Laura Anglin of Clarksville and Reba Harris of Hartman; 11 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, July 14, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Domerese Jr. officiating. Burial was in Kendall cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Frank Poyner, James Poyner, Jonathan Freeman, Willard Sams, Johnny Anglin, and Vernon Harris Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Matt Sampley, Dewayne Carson, Travis Hill and Mike Poyner.
Hughie L. Lewis
Hughie Lee Miracle Lewis, 79, died Friday, July 14, 2006, at Brighton Gardens Skilled Nursing Facility in Bellaire, Texas.
She was born April 20, 1927, to Hugh A. and Gladys Adkins Miracle in the Woodland Community near Clarksville, a 1943 graduate of Clarksville High School, widow of R. L. Lewis, former resident of Little Rock, where she was a legal and executive secretary, Wichita, Kan., where she was employed by Boeing, and New Orleans, La., where she was employed as an executive assistant to the director of the Boeing Michoud Space Facility and was named "New Orleans Secretary of the Year." In 1979 she moved to Houston, Texas, where she was executive assistant to the president of Soltex Polymer Company and later became human resources manager for the American Productivity and Quality Center. Upon retiring from APQC, she worked for a few years for her son at The Election Center in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by one son, Geoffrey Vaughn Lewis and one sister, Maxine Miracle Wasson Snider.
Survivors include one son, Doug Lewis and wife, Vicki, of Houston, Texas; one grandson, Jason Lewis; one sister, Carolyn Miracle Ross and husband, William, of Houston, Texas; aunt, Elizabeth Leiter of San Angelo, Texas, formerly of Clarksville; nephew, David Wasson and wife, Janice, of Fayetteville; and numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 17, in the Chapel of the Unity Church of Christianity in Houston, Texas.
Hilda M. Rowbotham
Hilda Mills Rowbotham, 94, of Clarksville died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late Charles Hilburn and Alice Carter Mills, widow of Everette Rowbotham, first graduate and salutatorian of Scranton High School in 1931, charter member of the Tokalon Presbyterian Church in Logan County where she was a member of the church orchestra, and currently a member of the Clarksville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by one sister, Elaine Creekmore, and one brother, Richard C. Mills.
Survivors include one daughter, Dana Rowbotham of Clarksville; one son, Carroll Rowbotham and wife, Sherry, of Lamar; two grandchildren, Denise Lovelace of Kingwood, Texas, and Lisa Adamson of Charlotte, N. C.; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Oakland cemetery with Rev. Phil Sturdy officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
