Flora Ellen Jones

Flora Ellen Jones, 82, of Clarksville died Friday, May 21, 2010, at Clarksville Health and Rehab.

She was a native of Matthews, Mo., daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Driscol Hodges, widow of Elihu Jones Jr., former food service employee, southern Baptist faith, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville (Speedy) Duncan, Paul Hodges, and Arthur Hodges Jr.; and two sisters, Pearl Bagby and Pauline Jones.

She is survived by two daughters, Delcie Tipton of Omaha and Vonnell Dybala of Martinsville, Ind.; two sons, Les Jones of West Plains, Mo., and Steve Jones of Knoxville; one sister, Alice Rhodes of Eucipia, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jesse Jones, Chad Jones, Eddy Jones, Blake Dybala, Tabitha Mumford, and Morgan Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Jones and Summer Mumford.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Minnow Creek cemetery.

Pallbearers were Clifton Pitts, Van Page, Delane Davis, Shannon Owens, Troy Terry, and Dell Montgomery.

Lee Roy Stokes

Lee Roy Stokes, 85, of Clarksville died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Ozark Nursing Home.

He was a native of Milo, Mo., son of the late Joseph and Alma Myers Stokes, retired Burns security officer, city and county police dispatcher, World War II Navy veteran, member of Spadra Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Clark Stokes; one son, Jimmy Stokes; and one daughter, Gladys Stokes.

Survivors include four daughters, Ann Knight of Clarksville, Darlene Stepp and husband, Marvin, and Patty Stokes, all of Hunt, and Linda Miller and husband, Lynn, of Raytown, Mo.; one son, Harry Russell Stokes and wife, Marietta, of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Friday, May 21, at Spadra cemetery with Rev. Richard Snyder officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Johnny Blamey, Russell L. Stokes, Michael Dobbs, Gene Vannoy, Sam Stokes, David Stepp, and Josh Knight.

Paula Woodard

Paula Woodard, 50, of Russellville, sister of Kim Nordin of Ozone, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in Russellville.

A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Jennie Baumann Nordin, 1977 graduate of Belleville High School, attended Restoration Church in Russellville and was employed in retail furniture sales.

Survivors include two sons, Nathan Woodard and wife, Ginnie, and Jason Woodard and Chelsey, all of Raeford, N.C.; three grandchildren; two other brothers, Dennis Nordin of Russellville and Matthew Nordin of Hot Springs; and one sister, Donna Hollis of Houston, Texas.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 19, at Hickey cemetery near Piney Bay with Rev. James Findley officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.

Ron Hudspeth

Ron Hudspeth, 57, of Dover died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

He was a native of Fort Sill, Okla., son of the late Raymond and Billie Purvis Hudspeth, graduated from high school in 1971 in Williams, Ariz., attended the University of Arizona and Arkansas Tech University, U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, former resident of De Queen and Russellville, former employee of Greenville Tube in Clarksville and was preceded in death by one sister, Susan Holland.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Snider Hudspeth; one son, Billy Hudspeth of Dover; and six siblings, Leon Hudspeth and wife, Veronica, Raymonia Hiatt and husband, Bob, Tina Lira and husband, Butch, and Bobby Hudspeth and wife, Robin, all of Clarksville, Eva Obeirne and husband, Rich, of Marion, and Ronnie Wester of Horatio.

A celebration of life service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at the Veterans' City Park in Russellville with Bruce Richardson officiating. Full military honors were provided by Rogers-Rye Post No. 2283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Arrangements were under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Ruben Castillo

Ruben Castillo, 35, of Clarksville died Monday, May 17, 2010, in Clinton.

He was a native of San Luis Potosi and an employee of Saxon Drilling Company.

Survivors include his wife, Lucila Herrera; one daughter, Amairany Castillo of Clarksville; one son, Edwin Castillo of Clarksville; mother, Lorenza Alviso of Mexico; father, Findencio Castillo of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Carmen Castillo and Yolanda Castillo, both of Mexico; and one brother, Juan Castillo of Houston, Texas.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father William Wewers officiating.

Burial was in Holy Redeemer Catholic cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home

Pallbearers were Juan Castillo, Hector Hernandez, Santiago Robledo, Ivan SanDoval, Juan Herrera and Oswaldo Martinez.

Shawn Dexter Foust

Shawn Dexter Foust, 56, of Russellville died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.

He was a native of Heber Springs, member of Russellville Missionary Baptist Church, served 30 years in the U.S. Army and 20 years with the Arkansas Highway Police and was preceded in death by his father, Sherlon Foust.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Heflin Foust; three sons, Joshua Heflin of Maumelle and Ridge Foust and Chase Foust, both of Russellville; mother, Wincle Foust of Heber Springs; one sister, Shay Cresswell and husband, Gary, of Heber Springs; and two nephews, Scott Cresswell and Mark Cresswell of Heber Springs.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at Russellville Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Heflin officiating.

Crematory arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Wilma Jewell Mathis

Wilma Jewell Mathis, 90, of Crow Mountain died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway.

She was a native of Solo, daughter of the late Quinn and Lottie Underhill Page, widow of Lester (Tickey) Mathis, member of Welcome Hill Assembly of God, and was preceded in death by one son, Michael W. Mathis; three brothers, Cirl (Bill) Page, Roy (Jack) Page and an infant, Eugene Quinn Page Jr.; and four sisters, Dollie Mathis, Clara Hays, Euva Newton, and Artie Page.

Survivors include three sons and four daughters-in-law, Lelus and Marie Mathis, Louie and Sharon Mathis, and Jerry and Veronica Mathis, all of Russellville, and Linda Mathis of Coal Hill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Bonnie Page and Kenneth and Vela Page, all of Russellville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cledyth and Glen Latham of Russellville and Faye and W.A. McAnulty of Pottsville; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, May 24, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Norman Chenowith and Rev. Jeremy Mathis officiating. Burial was in Bowden cemetery on Crow Mountain.

Grandsons served as active pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearer was Rev. David Downum.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Wilma Morris Dobbs

Wilma Pauline Morris Dobbs of Mount Vernon, Wash., passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010. Wilma was born in Hagarville, Arkansas on March 20, 1917, the daughter of John and Urcie (Smith) Morris. She married David Dobbs on April 20, 1935, in Clarksville, Arkansas. They moved to Mount Vernon shortly thereafter and were married for 55 years until his death on February 22, 1991. Wilma was devoted to her Lord and served Him in many ways. Some of the more notable things were teaching Sunday school to generations of church members, she also wrote and sang songs of praise and wrote poetry.

Wilma is survived by her sister, June Rohweder of Concrete; brother, Guy Morris of Corona, California; many nieces and nephews and numerous beloved friends whom she considered her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Urcie Morris; brothers, John and Tom Morris; sister, Jean Rogers. Memorials may be given to a charity of choice.

Visitation hours at Kern Funeral Home were held Tuesday, May 25, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was also held Tuesday, May 25, 2010, 2:00 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1515 E. College Way, Mt. Vernon, WA, followed by a graveside service at Mount Vernon cemetery. A reception will then be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
