Ruby A. McCleary

Ruby Arnette McCleary, 81, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, in Manteca, Calif., where she had resided for 52 years.
She was a native of Hartman, daughter of the late Joe and Bertha Shoeffler, widow of Homer F. McCleary Jr., and a 50-plus year member of the Assembly of God Church where she led the Women's Missionary Council (WMC), was Sunday school superintendent for the children's division, and held a seat on the mission's board for many years. She and her late husband started McCleary Plastering in 1962 which she continued to operate even after his death in 1971 until she retired in 1994.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Stacy and Danell McCleary, Robin and Russ Sousa, and Rod and Brenna McCleary of Manteca, Calif.; grandchildren, Janell and Christopher Morris, Nicole and Forrest Woodman, Brian and Rebecca McCleary, Randi and Rick Fowzer, Rachele Sousa, Ranette Sousa, and Rod McCleary Jr., all of Manteca, Calif., and Darci and Damon Eisenga of Escalon, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Melba Robertson of Manteca, Calif., and Harold Shoeffler of Stockton, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Joseph (Priscilla) Shoeffler of Hartman.
Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the First Assembly of God Church in Manteca, Calif., with Pastor Donald Annas, Pastor Michael Dillman and Pastor Scott Hoag officiating.
Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Park in Empire, Calif., under the direction of P. L. Fry and Son Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Rodney McCleary Jr., Christopher Morris, Rick Fowzer, Robert Tyler, Brian McCleary, Forrest Woodman, and Damon Eisenga.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Britny Montgomery

Britny Kiana Montgomery, 2, of Columbus, Miss., died Friday, Sept. 30, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her mother, Rebecca Ann Montgomery of Coal Hill; father, Paul Montgomery of Columbus, Miss.; stepsister, Kalina Laurence of Coal Hill; and maternal grandparents, Alton and Deborah Laurence of Coal Hill.
Burial will be in Waynesboro, Tenn., with arrangements by Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Ben H. Phillips

Ben Hugh Phillips, 80, of Clarksville died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Benjamin H. and Susie Miller Phillips, member of the Clarksville First United Methodist Church, graduate of Clarksville High School and the University of Arkansas, World War II Navy veteran and an employee of the poultry production industry for 37 years.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Wanda Witherspoon Phillips; two sons, Ben Hugh Phillips II of Toronto, Canada, and Alan Monroe Phillips of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Grace and George Edward Tenney of North Little Rock; and three nephews, George Edward Tenney II of Sugar Land, Texas, Phillip Clark Tenney of Decatur and John Miller Tenney of Houston, Texas.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Clarksville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Wingo, pastor, and Phil Sturdy, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bob Blackard, Charles Burcham, Robert Ed Farris, John Frost, J. D. Jacobs, Joe Talley, Harve Taylor, Jerrell Teltow, Sam Wish, Henry Walton and Archie Yandell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Park and Wylie Frost.

Clara S. Knoedel

Clara Frances Spanke Knoedel, 96, lifelong resident of Clarksville, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan.
She was a native of Hartman, daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Spanke, member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Frank Knoedel; two sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janelle and Gene Lazzo of Roeland Park, Kan., and Joan and John Rodermann of Jefferson City, Mo.; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Abbot Jerome Kodell, O.S.B., of Subiaco, Frank Kodell of Stafford, Texas, Ralph and Valerie Kodell of Little Rock and Bob and Barbara Kodell of Cleveland, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Florine Rinke of Fort Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Holy Redeemer Church with Father William Wewers officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Redeemer cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Subiaco Abbey.

Clara Lewis

Clara Lewis, 89, of North Kansas City, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 29, in North Kansas City, Mo.
She was a former garment factory employee, attended the First Christian Church of North Kansas City, Mo., widow of Julius Lewis, and daughter of the late Jessie Johnson and Lucy Mitchell Johnson.
Survivors include two brothers, Wayne Johnson and Arven Johnson, both of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Cleo Milburn of Little Rock.
Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Yale cemetery with Rev. George Yarberry officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Cindy Jo Sams

Cindy Jo Bechtel Sams, 52, of Hartman died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Willard Sams; two sons, Michael and James Bechtel, both of Ocean Front, Calif.; mother, Margie Hull of Acworth, Ga.; one sister, Sherry Hull of Acworth, Ga.; and one grandchild.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Kelly officiating. Burial will be in West Mt. Zion cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Daymond Kelly, Eddie Sams, James Poyner, Raymond Kelly, Bill Isabell and Larry Price.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Sams.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

David B. Evans

David Blaine Evans, 46, of Hartman died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at his home.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Duell Evans, member of Hartman Baptist Church, graduate of Hartman High School, University of the Ozarks, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1992 with an attorney and counselor at law degree, and was an attorney with law office in Clarksville.
Survivors include his mother, Frances Evans of Hartman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Charlie Lange and Elaine and Larry Roberts, all of Hartman; two nieces, Angie Lange and Dana Reeves of Hartman; two nephews, Aaron Lange of Clarksville and Roy Roberts of Hartman; two great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with burial in West Mount Zion cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
