Carmine Paul Tieri
Carmine Paul Tieri, 53, of Lamar died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at his home.
He was a former Ameron Company employee and son of the late Paul and Buelah Oliver Tieri.
Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Hays of Conway; one grandchild, Austin Hays of Conway; three sisters, Joyce Moye and husband, Chuck, and Francis Bauer, all of Beluedere, Tenn., and Bertie Stanley of Winchester, Tenn.; one brother, Loyce Southard and wife, Gayle, of Homewood, Ill.; and special friend, Gail Glover of Greenbrier.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Conway with Rev. Garland Cole officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Crestlawn Crematory in Conway.
Clifton Hill
Clifton Hill, 69, of Lamar died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home in Lamar.
He was a farmer, son of the late Timber Harvy and Minnie Walker Hill, and preceded in death by one sister, Dixie Raymey; and one brother, J.D. Hill.
Survivors include two nieces; one nephew; cousins; and special friends, Dwight and Peggy Stepp and family and George and Jeannett Willis and family.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robbie Willis and Rev. Greg Willis officiating. Burial was in Mount Liberty cemetery at Huntsville.
Active pallbearers were George Willis, Carroll Sherrell, Carl Rogers, Brad Young, Thomas Beebe, and Carl Wood.
Honorary pallbearers were James Stepp, Timmy Willis, Josh Willis, Jake Willis, Ronnie Sherrell, and Ted Young.
Elizabeth King Walsh
1919 - 2010
In loving memory of Elizabeth “Betty” Walsh who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 27, 2010, at home in Alameda, California.
Betty was born at home on July 31st, 1919 in Clarksville, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Gorman B. King and Orpha (Kitty) Wilson King, both of families with long roots in Johnson County, Arkansas. She attended the College of the Ozarks, graduated from the University of Arkansas and moved to Washington D.C. in 1941 to work for the FBI, followed by her enlistment in the U.S. Coast Guard. Shortly after arriving in Washington, she met her future husband, Stanley Walsh. He was the love of her life and together they shared nearly 60 years of marriage. In 1946, they moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where they excellently raised their five children and rejoiced in their many grandchildren and great grandchildren. They lived long and well, enjoying family road trips back home to Arkansas and through the National Parks, to share with their children a love of country and kin. Betty took pleasure from travel, swing music and dance, Razorback football, word puzzles, bridge and reading of all sorts but especially mysteries. She was a highly intelligent, respected and gracious woman.
Betty will be deeply missed by her family, her five children and their spouses, Tom (and Ann), Pam (and Erni), Genie (and Frank), Jim (and Arlene), Molly (and Michael) and her many grand and great grandchildren. Her family is grateful for the kindness and care that Betty received from Odyssey Hospice. Services will be private.
Ella Dolgos
Ella Dolgos, 94, of Fountain Hills, Ariz., formerly of Clarksville, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010.
She was a native of South Bend, Ind., daughter of the late Anton and Rose Jonas Gorbics, widow of Frank Stockberger, Richard Andrews, and Joe Dolgos, and retired nurse having been employed in hospitals and nursing homes. She was the organizer of an old-time country band, “The Fiddlin’ Nurse Band, ” which performed for various functions and charities, participated in country music contests and played her fiddle in a country show segment in Branson, Mo., in 1997, lifetime member of the National Old Time Fiddler Association and the Connecticut Fiddler Club, published music and poetry, authored a book, and was preceded in death by three siblings, Anton (Tony) Gorbics Jr., Rose Sterbenz and Leslie Gorbics, and a son-in-law, Harold Caldwell.
Survivors include five daughters, Shirley Caldwell of Clarksville, Elaine (Julian) Korn of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Bonnie Blake of Champlin, Minn., Gladys (Bob) Smith of Dowagiac, Mich., and Judy (Duke) Andrews of Indianapolis, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body was cremated.
Joann Morland
Joann Morland, 62, of Clarksville died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at her home.
A native of Los Angeles, Calif., she was a daughter of the late James Leonard and Helen Agnes Howard Thompson, retired ConAgra employee and of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen Morland; two sons, James Coburn of Conway and David Coburn and wife, Sharon, of Cumming, Ga.; one sister, Peggy Thompson of Atkins; three grandchildren, Chelsea Bird, Jessica Coburn and Alec Coburn; and two great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements were under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service.
Sue Avaritt
Sue Avaritt, 79, of Harrison died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, in Harrison.
She was a native of Bauxite, member of East Smith Street Church of Christ, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Kendall Avaritt; one brother, Curtis Mansfield; and one sister, Mary Louise Mansfield.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Avaritt Sr.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Lesa Avaritt and Terry and Gena Avaritt, all of Clarksville, Don and Linda Avaritt of Vilonia, and Ken Jr. and Kelli Avaritt of Harrison; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Wanda Mansfield and Paul and Paula Mansfield, all of Benton; grandchildren, Jeremy Avaritt, Clint Avaritt, Josh Avaritt, Megan Mahoney, Rebecca Clifft, Jason Avaritt, Heather Buck, Tera Reeves, Tyler Avaritt, Derek Avaritt, Katie Taylor, and Trey Avaritt; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Taylor, Paul Bates, and Owen Campbell officiating. Burial was at New Rosemont cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tyler Avaritt, Derek Avaritt, Jason Avaritt, Jeremy Avaritt, Clint Avaritt, Josh Avaritt, and Trey Avaritt.

Travis Ray Askins
Travis Ray Askins, 83, of Ozark died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, in Fort Smith.
He was a retired Cargill employee, member of the Hartman Baptist Church, veteran of the U.S. Army, born in Johnson County to Emmett and Mary Alice Adams Askins, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte Sue Askins; one sister, and seven brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Nichols Askins; two daughters, Deborah Crabtree and Rebecca Thomas, both of Ozark; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Hartman Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Glass officiating.
Burial will be in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Allen J. Jones
Allen J. Jones, 64, of Van Buren, native of Coal Hill, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
He was a son of the late Johnny and Emagene Jones; owner and operator of Northwest Icy Company, Baptist, member of the board of directors of the Van Buren Boys and Girls Club, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Jones; one brother, Johnny (Buster) Jones; and one sister, Willene Foley.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lenora Jones; two daughters, Cheryl Chatman and Kimberly White, both of Van Buren; two sons, Johnny and Jeffery Jones, both of Van Buren; three sisters, Patricia Meeler of Clarksville, Velma Darrow of Kibler and Susie Richards of Coal Hill; one brother, James Jones of Mulberry; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, at the Van Buren Boys and Girls Club with burial at Gill cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Robert Chatman, Randy Jones, Justin McCutcheon, Allen Swaim, Rick Cole, and Archie Armer.
