Mardie M. Webb

Mardie M. Webb, 89, of Conway, whose daughter and son-in-law, Lewis Ann and Emmett Thomas, reside in Clarksville, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at her home.
She was a native of Centerville in Faulkner County, daughter of the late George Walker and Mary Naomi Robertson McAlister, former resident of Dardanelle, member of the Presbyterian Church in Dardanelle, retired teacher, and for 25 years assisted her late husband, Dr. Lewis A. Webb, in his private practice at Dardanelle.
She is survived by one other daughter, Mary Louise Webb Fields of Conway; two grandchildren, Allen Fields and wife, Gail, of Crystal Springs, Minn., and Naomi O'Kelley and husband, Jonathan, of Conway; three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Ryan Fields of Crystal Springs, Minn., and Kayla O'Kelley of Conway; one step-great-grandson, Matt Martin of Crystal Springs, Minn.; two brothers, Floyd McAlister of Conway and Rev. J. L. McAlister and wife, Nita, of Farmersville, Calif.; and one sister, Ruth Llewellyn of Hector.
Graveside services and burial were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at Boiling Springs cemetery in Hector with James McAlister officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle.

Robert W. Gayle

Robert Wayne Gayle, 69, of Santa Cruz, Calif., died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, while visiting family in Russellville.
A native of Abernathy, Texas, he was a son of the late John and Ruby Howard Gayle, former resident of Lamar, served in the Army National Guard, and was a farmer raising livestock and growing hay and grain. In 1977, he moved to Santa Cruz, Calif., where he was employed as an upholsterer for Santa Cruz Mattress and Upholstery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Dianne Gayle.
He is survived by three sons, Robert C. Gayle and David G. Gayle, both of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Michael W. Gayle of Russellville; three sisters, Barbara McCarley and Claudine Dillard, both of Lamar, and Corrine Schaffer of Missouri; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, in Santa Cruz, Calif., with a private burial to follow at Oakwood cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4040 Moorpark Avenue, Suite, 105, San Jose, CA 95117.

Reba Lou Odom

Reba Lou Odom, 78, of Fresno, Calif., died Oct. 28, 2005.
She was a native of Coal Hill, daughter of the late Everett and Emma Castleberry Hurst, widow of Owen R. Odom, graduate of Coal Hill High School and attended the University of the Ozarks. She moved to Richmond, Calif., during World War II and worked for a government office of the state of California prior to moving to Fresno, Calif. She was also a real estate broker, worked for many years as the executive secretary to the director of the California Southern Baptist Convention and was a member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Fresno, Calif.
Survivors include two sons, Mitchell W. Odom of Seattle, Wash., and Kevin R. Odom of Buenos Aires, Argentina; one brother, Harold Hurst of Leland, Miss.; and one sister, Anice Stevenson of Hernando, Miss.

Violet N. Vernon

Violet Nell Ledbetter Vernon, 72, of Russellville died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at her home.
A native of the Spadra Community, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Latitia Blevins Ledbetter, 1951 graduate of Hartman High School, Methodist, and manager at Skyline Bakery for 17 years, after which she managed the Dover Supermarket Bakery. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Don and Dougan Ledbetter and two sisters, Mary Jane and Nora Ledbetter.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Vernon; two daughters and one son-in-law, Anita Cox of Russellville and Patricia (Laney) and Preston Sweeden of Morrilton; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and DeLyn Vernon of Portland, Texas; seven grandchildren, Angie Freeman and husband, Brent, of Russellville, Eric Cox and wife, Denise, of Maben, Miss., Daniel Cox and wife, Lynn, of Russellville, Sean Sweeden and Mallory Sweeden, both of Morrilton, and Tyler Vernon and Chance Vernon, both of Portland, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Jessica Young of Russellville and Savanna Freeman and Matt Freeman, both of Dover; one brother, Harry (Ike) Ledbetter of Abita Springs, La.; one sister, Frona Puckett of Pottsville; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Humphrey Chapel with Rev. Helen Hargreaves officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
Memorials may be made to the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, 4301 West Markham Street, Slot 816, Little Rock, AR 72205-9985.

Annie E. Rodgerson

Annie Elizabeth Rodgerson, 81, of Clarksville died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Clarksville Church of Christ, daughter of the late Vernie and Annie Bell Cronin, widow of Henry Rodgerson, and was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Elizabeth Mickelson of Clarksville, Joyce and John George of Ozone and Kay and Danny Varnell of Subiaco; one sister, Alta Waits of Magnolia, Texas; one aunt, Donie Polk of Salem, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at the Clarksville Church of Christ with John Ballard officiating
Burial will be in Lone Pine cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Dorothy J. Chittenden

Dorothy Jean Chittenden, 67, of Clarksville died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Midland, Texas, and daughter of the late Jessie and D. Sanders Kizer.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Chittenden Sr.; five daughters, Barbara Chittenden of Texas, Paula Chittenden of Louisiana, Deborah Chittenden, Cheryl Wiedeman and husband, Dean, of Knoxville and Brenda Williams and husband, Joseph; three sons, Earl Chittenden Jr. and wife, Tina, and Eric Chittenden and wife, Tina, all of Lamar, and Christopher Chittenden and wife, Brittany, of Texas; one sister, Ruth Fulmer of Slidell, La.; 22 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Elizabeth I. Hays

Elizabeth I. Hays, 28, of Hartman died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Clarksville, 1995 graduate of Westside High School at Coal Hill, 2005 magna cum laude graduate of the University of the Ozarks, member of the Ozarks Student Education Association, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Alpha Theta, U of O Dean's List, Arkansas Education Association, and Union Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, David Lincoln Sr.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Hays Jr.; three daughters, Mersadie Hays, Katelea Hays and Hailey Hays, all of the home; mother and father, Jennifer and Lee Tollison of Hartman; grandparents, Frances and Frank Tollison of Hartman and Irene Lincoln of New York; one sister, Samantha Tollison of Hartman; one brother, Steven Tollison of Lamar; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joyce and Ronald Hays Sr. of Kibler; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Burnett King officiating.
Burial was in West Mount Zion cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Bruce Barnes, Steve Robinson, Shane Shepard, Sean Pannell, Brandon Shipley, and Sterling Penix.
Memorials may be made to the Elizabeth Hays Scholarship Fund, Westside High School, P. O. Box 189, Coal Hill, AR 72832.

Florine S. Rinke

Florine Spanke Rinke, 86, of Clarksville died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, in Fort Smith.
She was a native of Hartman, youngest and last surviving child of Frank and Gertrude Gerard Spanke, widow of Edwin J. Rinke, member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Society, former cook at Holy Redeemer Catholic School at Clarksville, and was preceded in death by one son, Edwin J. Rinke Jr.; three sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include three daughters, Joanne Rinke, Karen Rinke, and Virginia Ricketts and husband, Rob, all of Fort Smith; one son, Steve Rinke of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, Melissa, Kristen and Brandon Ricketts and Derek, Jessica and Connor Rinke; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Rosary service was at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Abbott Jerome Kodell and Rev. William Wewers, O.S.B., officiating.
Burial was in Holy Redeemer Catholic cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Bob Halliburton, Gene Raible, Lance Spanke, Ralph Kodell, John Rodemann, Ron Spanke, Bill Rinke, and Ernest Rinke.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Mothers Society, c/o Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 103 East Main Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.
