Ola G. Holt
Ola Gertrude Holt, 97, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Knoxville, daughter of the late John and Martha Evelyn Martin Shatswell, widow of Oliver Edward Holt, member of Westside Full Gospel Church in Clarksville, and was preceded in death by one son, James Leon Holt, and five grandchildren, Dewayne Craig, Karry Lynn Wells, Jamie Wells, Charles Holt Jr., and Harold Ray Vanderpool.
She is survived by one son, Charles Clinton Holt and wife, Faye, of Danville; three daughters, Bernice Vanderpool of Jasper, Jean Cummings of Clarksville, and Louise Wells and husband, Rufus, of Dover; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. J. W. McEntyre officiating. Burial was at Crossroads cemetery near Jasper.
Katy Looper Baskin
Funeral for Katy Looper Baskin, 94, was held Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Moore's Eastlawn Chapel in Tulsa, Okla., with burial at Memorial Park cemetery.
She was a native of Clarksville, widow of Dub Baskin, employee of Froug's Eastgate for 32 years, and former restaurant owner.
She is survived by one sister, Lois Marie Looper Nicklau and husband, Pete, of Tulsa, Okla.; and one brother, Garland Looper of San Diego, Calif.
Billy C. Hanshew
Billy Carl Hanshew, 50, of Springdale died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, in Springdale.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Roy Melvin and Nola Houston Hanshew, Pentecostal, and a dock employee for Barnes Paper Company.
He is survived by one sister, Susan Taylor of Ozark.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Leo Villines officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.
Active pallbearers were Alvin Taylor, Mike and Trey Coover, Terry Houston, Richard Mays and Ernie Walker.
Honorary pallbearers were Alvie, Maxie Don, and Curtis Houston and Cory Coffman.
Lora Iva Moore
Lora Iva Harderson Moore, 95, of Clarksville died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late Miles C. and Joanna I. Dewberry Ritchie, widow of Ike Harderson and Tess Moore, and was preceded in death by two half-brothers, John Henry Stepp and Suel Stepp; two sisters, Lillie Ritchie Harderson and Hattie Ritchie Cummins; and three half-sisters, Diane McNew, Amy Lois Icing and Gracie Pruitt.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Mooney of Ozone and Sharon Ellison of Greenland; three sons, Stanley Harderson of Oark, Joe Harderson of Clarksville and Francis Harderson of West Fork; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Cassville Baptist Church with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating.
Burial was in Cassville cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Caleb Harderson, Derrick Harderson, Marty Harderson, Ken Harderson, Josh Harderson, and Isaac Harderson.
Honorary pallbearers were Terry Mooney, Russ Mavis, Clois Ellison, Basil Harderson, and Shawn Ritchie.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice.
Ricky James Groen
Ricky James Groen, 46, of Knoxville died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highways 64 and 359.
He was a former concrete finisher and son of the late James D. Groen.
He is survived by two daughters, Serena M. Groen and Chelsea E. Groen of Vallejo, Calif.; mother, Norma L. Groen of Knoxville; two sisters, Jeri Lyn Sponaugle of Loyalton, Calif., and Sheri I. Groen of Hewitt, Texas; uncles and aunts, Jerry and Sonja Fenske of Lake Texoma, Okla., Gene and Alvina Fenske of Knoxville, Russell and Cheryl Fenske of London, and Patricia and David White of Viborg, S. D.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The body was cremated at Crestlawn Crematory in Conway.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Virgil Eugene Holt
Virgil Eugene Holt, 74, of Lamar died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at his home.
He was a carpenter, son of the late Pete and Myrtle Sparks Holt, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Holt and Richard Holt; two sisters, Jewel Holt and Opal Spitler; and one grandchild, Rodney.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Ralph Holt; three daughters, Janice Holtzclaw of Coal Hill and Barbara Payne and Amanda Smith, both of Lamar; three sons, Steve Holt of Ozone, Rick Holt of Clarksville and Chris Holt of Morrilton; one brother, Wilbern Holt of Stites, Idaho; two sisters, Gladys Sparks of Clarksville and Ruby Coleman of Dennison, Texas; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Holt officiating. Burial will be in Lamar cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Karey Smith, Darrin Dossett, Waylon Thomson, Jerry Bohannon, Joseph Marlow and Joshua Dossett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Holt, Ray Cowell, Irvin Hurtt, Tommy Spitler, Johnny Havener, Cody Holt, Dr. Jack Patterson, Jerry Killough and Sonny Dobbs.
Braxton Ryan Stover
Braxton Ryan Rodriguez Stover, six-day-old son of Ryan Stover and Sarah Rodriguez of Clarksville, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2006, at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
Other survivors include grandparents, Jennifer and Gary Ragsdale of Hartman, Janet Stover and John Moody of Clarksville, and Tony and Ninna Stover of Altus; and great-grandparents, Tom and Jo Miner of Hartman, Quita and the late Leo Stover of Altus, and Inda Mae Ragsdale of Clarksville.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Bethlehem cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Floyd L. Martin
Graveside services and burial for Floyd L. Martin, 75, of Fremont, Calif., who died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in Fremont, Calif., were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at the Coal Hill cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
He was a retired truck driver, Air Force veteran, member of the American Legion, son of the late Ertis S. Martin, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Meloney Martin, and one stepdaughter, Peggy Nappi.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Tuoto Martin; two daughters, Melody Martin of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Merrilee Martin of San Diego, Calif.; mother, Jewell Faught Martin Stone of Ozark; four brothers, twin Boyd Martin of Manteca, Calif., Paul Martin of Coal Hill, Jerry Martin of Ozark and Michael Martin of Roswell, N. M.; one sister, Shirley Martin of Fayetteville; one stepdaughter, Doris Nappi of Union City, Calif.; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
