Charles R. Owen

Charles R. Owen, 68, of Clarksville died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Little Rock.
He was a native of Hagarville, graduate of Clarksville High School, Baptist, owner and operator of Owen Income Tax Service in Clarksville, and was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Marzo and Arnold Owen; and one half-sister, Annie Owen Hodges.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Kraus Owen; two daughters, Charlotte Usery and husband, Gary, and Benita Thomason and husband, Brad, all of El Dorado; one sister, Wanda Meier of Clarksville; one brother, I. W. Owen Jr. of Hagarville; and four grandchildren, Aaron and Hannah Usery and Colton and Tyler Thomason, all of El Dorado.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at Stillwell Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Goodman officiating.
Burial was in Annie's Chapel cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Christal L. Miller

Christal L. Miller, 35, of Atkins died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, from injuries sustained in a two-car accident on Highway 247 northeast of Atkins.
She was a native of Lamar, Colo., employee of Atkins Nursing Center and member of Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin Ray Miller; four sons, Sonny and Brian Caton of Clarksville, Corbin Parker and David Miller of Atkins; parents, Harrold and Lucile Parker of Lamar, Colo.; two brothers, Gary of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dustin of Pueblo, Colo.; three sisters, Jonnie of Atlanta, Ga., Robyn of Denver, Colo., and Bridget of Pueblo, Colo.; sister-in-law, Amy Ferguson; and brother-in-law, Todd Ferguson.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Lemley Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don Miller, Todd Ferguson, Colby Hiatt, Shane Miller, Marcus Battiest and Jason Cook.

Helen Nadine Hill

Helen Nadine Skidgel Hill, 86, of Ozark died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, in Ozark.
She was a native of the Spadra Community, daughter of the late John and Helen Gardner, and a member of the Goose Camp Assembly of God Church and the ladies auxiliary of Coal Hill VFW Post 8532.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Pannell of Ozark; five sons, Robert S. Skidgel Jr., Paul G. (Chuck), Larry W. and Mark A. Skidgel, all of Ozark, and Stanley D. Skidgel of Sacramento, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and the father of her children, Robert S. Skidgel Sr. of Hartman.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Union Grove cemetery with a grandson, Gaylan Williams, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Active pallbearers were Dale Skidgel, Robert S. Skidgel III, Michael Gardner, Joshua Tadlock, Jettie Marvel and Derrick McCartney.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Helton, Robby Roberts, Steve Mathews and Bill Pannell.

James William Yates

James William (Bill) Yates, 75, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at his home.
A native of Coal Hill, he was a son of the late Earl L. and Gusta Mae Roberts Yates, farmer in the Coal Hill and Hartman bottoms, retired county road department employee, and was preceded in death by one brother, Eulice Yates; and two grandsons, James Holt and Steven Holt.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Lee Magee Yates; two daughters, Judith A. Thomas-Miller and husband, Duel, of Hartman and Cara M. Green of Mena; two sons, Bobby W. Yates and wife, Ardyce, of De Valls Bluff and Raymond Yates and wife, Julie, of Coal Hill; one sister, Irene Owens of Coal Hill; one brother, Jeep Yates of Coal Hill; eight grandchildren, Natalee Sage and husband, Adam, Allen Holt, Misty Hurst and husband, Dustin, Jennifer Tillman, Alex Hunt, Alyssa Green, Andie Green, and A. J. Green; and seven great-grandchildren, Stormie Hart, Kindra Hart, Bell Dawn Holt, Jacob Holt, Connor Hurst, Carson Hurst, and Zachary Banogon.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Coal Hill cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Scott Barto, Dustin Hurst, Todd Tillman, Duel Miller, Justin Webb, Jeremy Green, Kent Yates and Josh Freeman.
Honorary pallbearers were John Buffington, J. C. Pool, J. C. Owens, Dennis Patton, Alan (Baby) Jones, Frank Milholland, Larry Griffith, Robert Reynolds and Tom Davenport.

Janet Renee Gage

Janet Renee Gage, 42, of Ozark, a native of Booneville, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, in Ozark.
She was a former employee of Johnson Regional Medical Center, registered nurse in the intensive care unit for 12 years, Franklin County health nurse the past several years, and member of the First Baptist Church of Ozark.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Gage; two sons, Aaron and Alex Smith of the home; two stepsons, Jeremiah Gage and Justin Gage of Fayetteville; one stepdaughter, Amanda Smith of Fayetteville; parents, Freddie and Nina Lee Zeiler of Paris; one sister, Lori Holt of Ozark; and two brothers, Freddie Zeiler of Ozark and Eddie (Deano) Zeiler of Fort Smith.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the First Baptist Church in Ozark with Rev. Ted Darling officiating.
Burial was in Highland cemetery at Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Randall Bullington, Randy Hillard, Doyle Bowman, Steve Reano, Bill Timmerman, and Mac Bornmann.
Honorary pallbearers were Sid O'Bar, Bill Sullivan, Pete Mann, Wayne Yarnell, and Richard Armstrong.

John B. Crockett Jr.

Lt. Col. John Burton Crockett Jr. of Knoxville, formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to John Burton and Ruth Bragg Crockett, graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., served 34 years in the Army in World War II, Korea and the Pentagon, opened the Roadrunner in Clarksville, was active in the Republican Party and served as Sunday school teacher and deacon at Cherry Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ghaski Imogine Crockett; two sons, John Alan Crockett and wife, Natalie, of Austin, Texas, and David Lynn Crockett of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Harley Adams and family, and Christopher and Krystal Crockett of Austin, Texas; one brother, Earl Bragg Crockett and wife, Edwina, of Little Rock; and two nieces, Suzanne Kelley and husband, Kim, of Hot Springs and Tully Ritchie and husband, Chuck, of High Point, N. C.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Cherry Street Baptist Church.
Burial will be at Oakland cemetery with full military honors.
Active pallbearers will be military personnel.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Trailblazers Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to Cherry Street Baptist Church, 800 West Cherry Street, P. O. Box 378, Clarksville, AR 72830.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Joyce Ann Miller

Joyce Ann Miller, 70, of Lamar died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007.
She was a native of the Lutherville Community, daughter of the late William Bradley and Maude Jane Warren Smith, widow of Loy Dean Miller, Baptist, Clarksville Footwear employee, and was preceded in death by four sisters, Vera Grace, Vivian Campbell, Mary M. Ashley, and Grace Watson.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy McGregor and husband, Ron, of Lamar; one son, Terry Miller and wife, Debbie, of Knoxville; and two grandchildren, Brad Miller and wife, Lydia, of Russellville and Shawna Ratliff and husband, Clint, of Coal Hill.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Blair and Rev. Doug Woods officiating. Burial was in Holman cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Brad Miller, Clint Ratliff, Gary Campbell, Bob Garland, Leon Bacchus, and Aaron Moyer.
Honorary pallbearers were Junior Warren, Troy Campbell, Gary Warren, Randy Warren, and Bo Miller.
Memorials may be made to Needy Paws Animal Shelter.
