Perry D. Houston
Perry Dwight Houston, 46, of Hartman died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at his home.
He was a native of Hartman.
Survivors include his parents, Billy Paul and Iladene Kimbrel Houston; one brother, Eric Shawn Houston of Hartman; one sister, Nadine Houston Brooks of Greenwood; special friend, Dee Rudder; four nieces; and two nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Sory officiating. Burial was in West Mt. Zion cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Chris Babson, Allen Walker, Tommy Gregory, Richie Self, Mark Crowson and Mike Ruffner.
Honorary pallbearers were Mark Weaver, Mike Sights, Junior Bell, Dual Miller, Gordon Gibson, Jeff Dougan, and Randall Estep.
Steve Griffin
Steve Griffin, 69, of Hartman died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Mercy Hospital Turner Memorial in Ozark.
He was a native of Little Rock, son of the late Perry and Irene Hefley Griffin, graduate of Alma High School, Baptist, veteran of the U. S. Army and former employee of CMW in Clarksville.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Dougan Griffin; one daughter, Denise Sanford and husband, Clark, of St. Louis, Mo.; one son, Mark Griffin of St. Joseph, Mo.; one sister, Joan Vriesen of Vicksburg, Miss.; five brothers, Kenneth Griffin of Alma, Charles Griffin of Van Buren, John Griffin of Barling, Tommy Griffin of Greenwood, and Richard Griffin of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren, Kate, Kara and Clark Sanford III.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Francis Vriesen officiating. Burial was in Union Grove cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Griffin, Charles Griffin, John Griffin, Tommy Griffin, Richard Griffin, and Fred Dougan.

Sylvia G. Allred
Sylvia Gertrude Sosebee Allred, 96, of Ozark died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, in Van Buren.
A native of Winert, Texas, she was a daughter of the late E. G. and Lantie Mae Cooper Sosebee, widow of Cephus Allred, member of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary, and was preceded in death by two daughters, Pauline English and Angerie Terry.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Reba and Thell Peevy of Alma and Mike and Brenda Lewis of Mulberry; three sons and daughters-in-law, Harrison and Olene Allred of Ozark, Bobby and Betty Allred of Coal Hill, and Larry and Charlotte Allred of Ozark; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark with Mike Lewis and Garry Terry officiating. Burial was at Highland cemetery in Ozark.
Active pallbearers were Kevin Allred, Keith Allred, Stephen Allred, Britt Allred, Keith English, Vincent Terry, Michael Peevy and Brian Hill.
Honorary pallbearers were Rick Allred, Bryant English, Kenneth Peevy, Robert English, John Terry, Chris English, Alan Hurt, Chris Clayton and Adam Terry.
Emerson Dyer Wine
Emerson Dyer Wine, 91, of Clarksville died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007.
A native of Elkhart, Ind., he was a son of the late Cecil Charles and Dorcas Dyer Wine, carpenter, Baptist, and was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Marie Wine; three brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by three daughters, Sharon Mitchell and husband, Jim, and Pat Cook and husband, Bob, all of Ozone, and Sandra Bridger and husband, Gene, of Elkhart, Ind.; one sister, Juanita Olinghouse of Goshen, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the Ozone Baptist Church.
Burial was in Russell cemetery at Ozone under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Bobby Cook, Roger Ost, Terry Cromer, John Tripp, Wayne Hatcher, and Richard Brandt.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Mitchell, Bob Cook, Gene Bridger, Pierre Bridger and great-grandsons.

Grace M. Abbott
Grace M. Abbott, 86, of Coal Hill died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, in Ozark.
She was a daughter of the late Arthur and Naomi Koenigsecker Holliker, native of Waterville, Ohio, and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Altus, Coal Hill VFW Auxiliary, Marine Corps League in California, and the good Sam RV Club of Fort Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Abbott; one daughter, Kathleen Virden of Apple Valley, Calif.; five sons, Richard Abbott and Robert Abbott of Coal Hill, Ronald Abbott of Cabot, Michael Abbott of Coalinga, Calif., and Dennis Abbott of Berea, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with funeral mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altus with Father Hiliary Filiatreau officiating. Burial was in St. Mary'c cemetery at Altus.
Haskel Calvin Cowan
Haskel Calvin Cowan, 82, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in Little Rock.
He was a native of Hartman, son of the late Claude and Marvie Thomas Cowan, and Pentecostal.
Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Robinson Cowan; four sons, Calvin Cowan of Lamar, Clitis Cowan of Oark, Carl Cowan of Springfield, Mo., and Craig Cowan of Clarksville; one daughter, Karen Sue Tumbleson of Lamar; one brother, Virgel Cowan of Oark; three sisters, Juanita Hardin of Clarksville, Corene Benn of Wichita, Kan., and Irmalee Hill of Oark; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in the Sherman cemetery at Ozone.
Active pallbearers were Duane Yates, Darrell Benn, Leroy Yarbrough, Keith Stepp, Marty Tumbleson, and Mike Cowan.
Honorary pallbearers were nieces and nephews.
Helen Louise Gehrt
Helen Louise Gehrt, 80, of Clarksville died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at her home.
She was a native of Lothair, Ky., daughter of the late Alfred and Polly Hall Marcum, widow of Edwin Ernest Gehrt, graduate of Chicago (Illinois) High School, former beautician and former nursing school student.
Survivors include one daughter, Kim Ozimek of Clarksville; three sons, Rick Gehrt, Ken Gehrt and Jon Gehrt, all of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Tasha Hall and Richard Hall, both of Clarksville, and Richard Gehrt of California; and three great-grandchildren, Blake and Scott Inman of Clarksville and Cody Gehrt of California.
Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Hardwicke Funeral Home with Rev. Sam McElhaney officiating. Burial was in Lone Pine cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Hall, Robert Hall, Jerry Don Wood, Johnny Wood, Jack Rogers, and Cecil Bean.
