Nancy J. McCartney
Nancy J. McCartney, 72, of Clarksville, the only child of Milton Jacob (Pat) and Faye Stanley Melchi, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 21, 1934, and she and Burl L. McCartney were married
on Sept. 18, 1955, in Springfield, Ohio.
She was a licensed practical nurse, member of First Front Street Presbyterian Church in Hamilton, Ohio, and First Presbyterian Church of Clarksville, and was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Burl L. McCartney; one daughter, Beth Steele of Middleton, Ohio; two sons, Paul McCartney and wife, Laurel, of Aylett, Va., and Patrick McCartney of Seven Mile, Ohio; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksville with Dr. Jerry Rice officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Grove cemetery at Oark under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Joe Hamilton, Gary Hamilton, Paul McCartney and Pat McCartney.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 20.
Geneva G. Russell
Geneva Grace Russell, 92, of Clarksville died Friday, April 13, 2007, in Fort Smith.
She was a daughter of the late James T. and Tabitha Allie Pendergraft Perkins, widow of Nathan Richard Russell, member of Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God and former Sunday school teacher, and was preceded in death by one son, Winfred Russell.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Haynes of Clarksville and Wanda Ashley and husband, Ronald, of Fort Smith; one sister, Cloine Bishop of Claremore, Okla.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Park Grove cemetery in Broken Arrow, Okla., with Rev. Terry Schlinker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Homer R. Weatherton
Homer R. Weatherton, 86, of Hartman died Friday, April 13, 2007, at his home.
He was a retired steel mill employee, member of the Church of the Nazarene, son of the late Homer and Bertha Pannell Weatherton, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Duard T. Weatherton and Ernest Weatherton.
Survivors include one daughter, Toni Morgan of East Bend, N. C.; one son, Karl Roby Weatherton of Cook, Minn.; two brothers, Norman Weatherton of Hartman and Glen H. Weatherton of Sun City, Ariz.; two sisters, Willeen Trusty of Russellville and Evelyn Cash of Pinole, Calif.; two stepchildren, Scott Fullerton and Francis DeWitt, both of Yadkinville, N. C.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Glenn Newton officiating. Burial will be in Ware Chapel cemetery in Scranton.
Pallbearers will be Harley Parker, Doug Reynolds, Charles Goodin, Ron Newton, Dane Mayes and Alex Manly.
Vivian Ruth Keith
Vivian Ruth Keith, 84, of Clarksville died Friday, April 13, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Dale, daughter of the late Everett and Martha Anna Buchanan Payne, graduated from Clarksville High School in 1938 at the age of 15, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and played the piano and organ. For 18 years she and her husband owned and operated Keith Auto Supply until their retirement in 1991.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Bill Keith; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Anne and Rick Richardson of Ozark; one sister and brother-in-law, Anna Marie and Ed Milton Willey of Clarksville; one niece, Sheila Bryant of Clarksville; one nephew, Keith Hammond of Clarksville; and numerous cousins.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville with a cousin, Rev. Jonathan Payne, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Judy Diane Thomas
Judy Diane Thomas, 53, of Clarksville died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late James and Lillian Walker Goodin, graduate of Clarksville High School, retired truck driver, Assembly of God faith, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Kina Deann Hatchett.
Survivors include her husband, David Thomas; two daughters, Angelia Jacobs and husband, Bruce, and Amanda Haynes and husband, Jeremy, all of Owasso, Okla.; one stepson, Bryan Thomas of Lamar; three stepdaughters, Angie Dossett, Connie Thomson and Nickie Holland, all of Lamar; one sister, Jo Ellen Pitts of Clarksville; two brothers, Jimmy Goodin and Danny Goodin, both of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Dylan Jacobs, Drew Jacobs, and Kina Haynes; and ten step-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Fernwood Assembly of God Church with Rev. Eddie Birdsong officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
William R. Belcher
William Ray Belcher, 64, of Lamar died Friday, April 13, 2007, at Paris Health and Rehabilitation Center in Paris.
He was a Baptist, boat manufacturing plant manager, and son of the late Willie Lee and Martha Margaret Snyder Belcher.
He is survived by one son, William Ray Belcher Jr. of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, John Belcher of Lamar and Charles George Belcher of South Carolina; one sister, Ruby Boggs of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Boggs, Kevin McCarley, Keith McCarley, Randy Warren, Robert Clark, and David Manning.
Rose Marie Timmerman
Rose Marie Timmerman, 86, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Fort Smith.
A native of Coal Hill, she was a daughter of the late Herman J. and Mary Timmerman, a packer at Wortz Biscuit Company for 40-plus years, member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Fort Smith and the Coal Hill VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Lawrence and Herbert; and one sister, Christine.
She is survived by two sisters, Irene Coble of Castro Valley, Calif., and Margaret Bartlett of Coal Hill; and one brother, Herman Art Timmerman of Ozark.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altus with Father Hilary Filiatreau officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery at Altus.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Richard Bartlett, Glen Bartlett, Paul Timmerman, Darel Timmerman, Greg Timmerman, and Todd Timmerman.
Eugene C. Hanshew
Eugene C. (Gene) Hanshew, 82, of Springdale died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
He was a son of the late Carl and Edna Hanshew, native of Johnson County but moved to Springdale in 1945, where he was employed as a truck driver for Jones Truck Lines for 39 years prior to retiring. He was a member of the Springdale Missionary Baptist Church and had served as a Sunday school superintendent and deacon. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Harvey; one brother, Melvin Hanshew; two nephews, Marty Pyles and Billy Hanshew; and one great-grandson, Brandon Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Hanshew; one son, Bob Hanshew and wife, Delores of Lowell; one sister, Eulema Pyles of Coal Hill; five grandchildren, Kim Henry, Shelley Williams, Rusty Hanshew, Sonia McKinney and Rob Hanshew; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, at Bluff cemetery in Springdale with Rev. Dan Wisely officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
Pallbearers were Rusty Hanshew, Rob Hanshew, Terry Gregory, James Gregory, Cody Rodgers, and Terry Williams.
