Billie L. Odom

Billie L. Odom, 41, of Coal Hill died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, in Clarksville.
A native of East Los Angeles, Calif., he was a Baptist, diesel mechanic for River Valley Animal Foods in Scranton and was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Leroy Odom III.
Survivors include his wife, Kelly Odom; two sons, Levi Williams of Charleston and Olen Riley Odom of the home; one stepson, Cody Hamm of Paris; parents, Barbara Capello and husband, Alfred, of Bakersfield, Calif., and Melvin Odom and wife, Darlene, of Paris; one sister, Jane Odom of Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, Dennis Odom of Paris; one stepsister, Tisha Pettigrew of Paris;one stepbrother, Larry Brown of Paris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at the First Baptist Church in Altus with Rev. Chuck Starnes and Rev. Clyde Vire officiating.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Arlie Eugene Warren

Arlie Eugene Warren, 77, of Teague, Texas, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at East Texas Medical Center of Tyler, Texas.
He was a construction employee, son of the late Albert S. and Lucinda Logan Warren, and was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Warren; one son, Darrel James Warren; one sister, Edna Williams; and five brothers, Charlie Lee Warren, Leather Warren, Gus Warren, Louie Warren, and Elvis Warren.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen Warren Price of Van Buren and Brenda Warren Rowe of Donie, Texas; three sons, Ronnie A. Warren of Hartman, Larry Eugene Warren of Houston, Texas, and Gary Warren of Liberty, Texas; two sisters, Lois Cowan of Sacramento, Calif., and Marie Kaufman of Camarillo, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Russell cemetery at Ozone.
Pallbearers were Jimmie Jeffries, Gary Warren, Charlie Warren, Ronnie A. Warren, James Rowe, Brandon Holler, and Troy Warren.

Betty Jo Paladino

Betty Jo Paladino, 77, of Clarksville passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007, with her family at her side.
She was born August 6, 1929, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the late Josie and Chester Barnes.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Henry A. Paladino, Lt. Colonel, U.S.A. Retired.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who dedicated her life to her family with deep love and compassion.
Any person who entered her life was accepted as a member of her extended family of friends, enjoying her many talents as a hostess and gourmet cook. She will be unbelievably missed by all who knew and loved her, but is now with her husband, the love of her life, lovingly referred to as, "Honey."
She is survived by her two sons, Kevin Paladino of Lamar, and Steve Paladino and wife, Sheryl, of Clarksville; two daughters, Kim Paladino of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Michelle and husband, Dr. David Tanner, of Russellville; three sisters, Marguerite Terhune of Rome, Georgia, Mary Lewis and her husband, Harold, of Clarksville, and Carol Holman of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Wayne and wife, Kasey Brown, Jason Paladino, Jessica Paladino, Justin Brown, and Julie Paladino; two step-grandchildren, Richie Tanner and Maegan and her husband, Billy Hampton; one great-grandchild, Madison Brown, and four step-great-grandchildren, Cecelia, Gabriel, Sophia Hampton and Paizley Bratton; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caregivers for the assistance they rendered.
A rosary was held on Friday, April 27, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Center Ridge, at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 28, at St. Joseph's Catholic church, at 11:00 AM.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 343 Catholic Point Road, Center Ridge, Arkansas 72027, or a charity of choice.
Pallbearers -- Thomas DeSalvo, Wayne Brown, Jason Paladino, Justin Brown, Ken Andreas, and Richie Tanner.
Honorary pallbearers -- Joseph A. Paladino, Larry Paladino, Edward Andreas, Steve A. Paladino, Paul A. Paladino.

Carolyn M. Kraus

Funeral for Carolyn M. Kraus, 80, of Overland Park, Kan., who died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Overland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, was at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville. Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, Kansas City Chapter, 6700 Troost, Suite 501, Kansas City, MO 64131-4403 or The Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203-1606.
She was a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Natho of Gillett, received a bachelor of science degree in 1947 from Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas at Conway), served a clinical internship at Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas, Texas, a certified member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, had a 40-year career as a medical technologist in both hospitals and private practice, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Arville E. Kraus; and one brother, Carl Natho.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Mark Bierly of Hutchinson, Kan.; and her son and granddaughter, David and Geneva Kraus, both of Schenectady, N. Y.

Dorothy J. Trotter

Dorothy Josephine Trotter, 82, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Charles F. and Josephine Krohn Rarick, widow of Olen M. Trotter, and was preceded in death by one brother, Charles E. Rarick.
She is survived by one son, Dennis M. Trotter of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and one grandchild.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Hess cemetery at Coal Hill with Rev. Amos Pledger and Wanda Cravens officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Estes E. Newland

Estes Ellen Newland, 95, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was born in Mayes County, Oklahoma, to William Buckley and Alice Murray Rowbotham, who were former residents of Johnson County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Newland, and 15 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Nelda Hollar and husband, Jack, of Farmington, N. M., and Nita Newland of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two granddaughters, Rhonda Hollar and Rita Mayes, both of Farmington, N. M.; three great-grandsons; and numerous cousins in the Johnson County area.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Swan-Law Cascade Chapel in Colorado Springs, Colo., with Rev. David Hines officiating. Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Memory Gardens cemetery in Farmington, N. M.

George A. Coates Jr.

George Alvin Coates Jr., 55, of Hartman died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Fort Smith.
He was a farmer, son of the late Jewell Frances Hockett Coates and preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jane Coates.
Survivors include one son, Jeremy LeDeay of Macon, Mo.; father, George Alvin Coates Sr.; one sister, Gloria Jean Parton of Hartman; one brother, Robert Lee Roy Coates of California; and one grandchild.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating.
