Lotha Smith
Lotha Smith, 94, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late James and Etta Conway Smith, retired beauty operator, and member of West Mount Zion Methodist Church where she taught a Sunday school class for 30 years.
She has no immediate survivors.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marci Ward officiating. Burial was in West Mount Zion cemetery.
Pallbearers were Pat Blackard, C.O. Blackard, Don Dougan, Al Davis, Charles Callahan, and Ashley Davis.
Bernice J. Brown
Bernice Johnston Brown, 96, of Clarksville died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late William Newton and Lula Harris King, widow of Joe J. Johnston and James Don Brown, member of First Baptist Church, Crape Myrtle Garden Club, and Clarksville Country Club, avid golfer, formerly employed by ARVAC as manager of the head start program, and was preceded in death by one son, William King Johnston.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joe Johnston Jr. and wife, Judy, of Clarksville; daughter-in-law, Linda Walton Johnston of Valrico, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Caroline Lindner and husband, Mike, of West Linn, Ore.; five grandchildren, Josh Johnston and wife, Michelle, of Clarksville, Jill Bendtsen and husband, Jay, of Cheland, Wash., Susan Moss and husband, Chris, of Jasper, Ga., Shelley Fritz and husband, Rob, of Valrico, Fla., and William Bryce Johnston and wife, Jennifer, of Tampa, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at East Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Jackson officiating.
Burial was in Mount Airy cemetery at Ludwig under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Josh Johnston, Bryce Johnston, David King, Danny Leeds, Louie Don Leeds and Hank Sparks.
Delorise J. Hurtado
Delorise Jean Hurtado, 71, of London died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, in Clarksville.
She was a native of Leonard, Tulsa County, Okla., daughter of the late James Sebern and Georgia Mead Young, member of the class of 1957 in Bixby, Okla., where she resided until 1975, when she and her family moved to Atkins, member of the Flat Rock Worship Center in London, dietitian, past president of Rogers Rye Post 2283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Byrum; two sisters, Pauline Farmer and Lena Anderson; four brothers, Raymond, Wayne, Willie and Marvin McLaughlin; and stepmother, Letha Young.
Survivors include her husband, Herb Hurtado; two daughters, Debbie Johnston of Green Forest and Debra Ford of Pottsville; four sons, Billy Linker of Little Rock, Terry Linker of Russellville, Randy Linker of Tulsa, Okla., and James Linker of Atkins; four stepdaughters, Karen, Debbie, Cheyenne and Robin; four stepsons, Agapito, Richard, Lewis and Greg Hurtado; four sisters, Gladys Osborn, Alice Butler, Frances Tollette, and Juanita McMurrian, all of Oklahoma; two brothers, Frank and Jerry Young of Tulsa, Okla.; 31 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Flat Rock Worship Center at London with Rev. Ronnie Birge officiating. Cremation will be under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Flat Rock Worship Center at London.
Edith Winters Walton
Edith Winters Walton, 89, of Clarksville, died Friday, January 8, 2010, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
The daughter of the late Robert Lin Winters and Rachel Evans Winters Robertson, she was born January 27, 1920, in Hartman, AR. To those who knew her she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a special Gran.
She was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church, graduate of Clarksville High School and Business College of Fort Smith. She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband and loved to golf and play bridge.
Widow of R.P. Walton, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Walton.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Johnston of Valrico, FL and Charlotte White and husband, James, of Clarksville, TN; one son, Mark Walton of Clarksville; four grandchildren, Susan Moss and husband, Christopher, of Jasper, GA, Shelley Fritz and husband, Robert, of Valrico, FL, Christopher White of Clarksville, TN, and Bryce Johnston and wife, Jennifer, of Tampa, FL; five great-grandchildren, Tristan Holtz of Denver, CO, Alexandra Holtz of Gainesville, FL, Cameron Fritz of Valrico, FL, Allison Fritz of Valrico, FL, and Sarah Moss of Jasper, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at Cherry Street Baptist Church with burial at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
Pallbearers were long time friends, Robert "Powell" Smith, John Chrisman, Kent Cecil, James Willis, Hank Sparks, and grandson, Bryce Johnston.

Bob Gene Taylor
Bob Gene Taylor, 75, of Morro Bay, Calif., died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at a San Luis Obispo (California) hospital.
He was a son of the late Earl and Golda Taylor and was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Earl Taylor; and one great-granddaughter, Mattibelle Nicole Pickard.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon K. Taylor; children, Stephanie and Allen Ray of Coal Hill, Robin Gene Taylor of Pahrump, Nev., Vernon Ross Taylor of Clarksville, and Cindy Johnson; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four stepchildren, Lorinda Fleming, of Visalia, Calif., Charles Mayes, of Anchorage, Alaska, Jimmy Mayes of Phelan, Calif., and Karri Prader of Visalia, Calif.; six step grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson.

Doy Everrett Russell, 76, of Clarksville died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Clarksville Health and Rehab.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late John and Jessie Perry Russell and a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Russell; two daughters, Sheila Harderson and husband, Jodey, of Ozone and Debbie Schmoker and husband, Lance, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son, Jason Russell and wife, Porsha, of Ozark; one sister, Rebra Wilyes of Kansas City, Kan.; one brother, Jack Russell of John Day, Ore.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at Woodland cemetery with Rev. Garland Williams officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Memory Jay Furr
Memory Jay Furr, 53, of Scranton died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, in Scranton.
She was born in Indianapolis, Ind., to George and Nadine Stubbs Haynes and was retired.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Larry Furr; one son, Raymond Furr of Scranton; three daughters, Dawn Furr of Scranton, and Barbara Furr and Maggie Young, both of Clarksville; father, George Haynes of Scranton; three sisters, Janie Hall of Paris, Cee Richardson of Clarksville and Connie Hilton of Fort Smith; two brothers, Doug Haynes of Smithville and Roger Proper of Malvern; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial in Oakwood cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Young, Cecil Fleming, Alex Olmos, Lester Fleming, Bobby Furr, Larry Wesley Furr and Jonathan Haynes.
Allen Howard Greene
Allen Howard Greene, 72, of Hagarville died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Freemont, Mo., graduate of Chilhowee (Missouri) High School, attended Clarksville First United Methodist Church and member of Johnson County Car and Truck Club.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Greene; one daughter, Cherrie Kester of Bandera, Texas; three sons, Dwain Greene of Bandera, Texas; Dale Rush of Carthage, Mo., and Jeffrey Rush of Clinton, Mo.; three brothers, Raymond Greene and Mac Greene, both of Chilhowee, Mo., and Jim Greene of Huntsville; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Burial was Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Carpenter cemetery in Chilhowee, Mo.
Honorary pallbearers were Keith Brown, Roy Goodin, Ralph Watkins, Jack Huddleston, Jim Oberste, Jack Belcher, Teddy Spurgin, and Dennis Rood.
