Joel D. Karr Jr.

Joel D. Karr Jr., 47, of Clarksville died Monday, June 21, 2010, at his home.

He was a native of Tulsa, Okla., graduate of Clarksville High School, veteran of the United States Air Force, and preceded in death by his father, Joel D. Karr Sr.

Survivors include his mother, Zelda Karr of Clarksville; two sisters, Rebecca McElhenny of Clarksville and Elizabeth Peveto of Sulphur Springs; four nephews; two nieces; three great-nephews; and four great-nieces.

Crematory arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice Foundation, 2405 East Parkway, Russellville, AR 72801.

Daisy C. Bogue

Daisy C. Bogue, 100, of Lamar died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Swain, she was a daughter of the late Ele and Susie Mace Ramsey, widow of Ocie A. Bogue, and member of Clarksville Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall.

She is survived by one son, Leon Wilkins of Lamar; and one grandson, Donald Wilkins of Clarksville.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Don Collie officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mathew Mix, Roy Jackson, Eric Hurst, R.L. Speaks, Melvin Patton, Wesley Davidson, and James Skaggs.

George Elton Alread

George Elton Alread, 53, of Clarksville died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in Clarksville.

He was a native of Conway, son of the late Sue Fulmer Alread, and an employee of Regions Bank.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Alread; one daughter, Jennifer Alread Monroe of San Diego, Calif.; father, Dr. Burvin Alread of Conway; one brother, William Alread of Evergreen, Colo.; and one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Rose Monroe of San Diego, Calif.

Crematory arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the United Way or a charity of the donor's choice.

Jefferson D. Haynes Jr.

Jefferson Davis Haynes Jr., 81, of Clarksville died Friday, July 16, 2010, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was a son of the late Catherine (Hickey) and Jefferson Davis Haynes Sr. and a building contractor.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Haynes; one daughter, Linda Finley and husband, Edward, of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren, Laura Grouber and husband, Joe, Lisa Schleyer and husband, Mike, and Amy Willoughby and husband, Bob, all of Chicago, Ill.; and three great-grandchildren.

Crematory arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Joseph Allie Kraus

Joseph Allie Kraus, 93, of Clarksville died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at his home.

He was a son of the late Jasper Henry and Laura Levina Stumbaugh Kraus, retired retail lumber yard/hardware employee, member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Elsie White Kraus; six sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Oleta Allene Kraus Hutchins and husband, Bill, of Hagarville; one son, Mark Kraus and wife, Jo Karen, of Hartman; six grandchildren, Donny Hutchins, Ronny Hutchins, Terri Freppon, Joy Mason, Joelle Brown, and Jo Susan Gullet, all of Arkansas; and nine great-grandchildren, Mica Freppon, Phillip Freppon, Olivia Mason, Issac Mason, C.J. Mason, Abbigail Mason, Malachi Brown, Elijah Brown, and Naomi Brown, all of Arkansas.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating.

Burial will be in the Annie's Chapel cemetery east of Hagarville under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be David Freppon, Cody Mason, Eric Brown, Jerry Woodard, Gary Nordin, and Ronnie Ashlock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hutchins, Donny Hutchins, Ronny Hutchins, Wayne Pyron, Ransom Storms, Billy White, Bob White, Jim White, Larry White, Larry Griffin, Rip Teal, Dale Caldwell, Paul Curtis, Gary Looper, and L.J. Simms.

Memorials may be made to First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Karen R. Simmons

Karen Reynolds Simmons, 55, of Lamar died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at her home.

She was a native of Clarksville, graduate of Lamar High School, retired beauty operator, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Nicole Morrow.

Survivors include her husband, Kevin Simmons; one son, Jonathan Morrow and wife, Rachel, of Lamar; parents, Lloyd and Betty Reynolds of Lamar; two grandchildren, Gabriel Morrow and Isabella Morrow, both of Lamar; and uncle and aunts, Norman and Ruth Reynolds of Lamar and Edith Hatton of Mt. Ida.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Newton officiating. Burial was in Reynolds cemetery near Lamar.

Pallbearers were Wesley Farris, Bill Bavis, Milton Nordin, Mark Hodge, Rick Hunt, Theron Hunt, and Levon Hunt.

Alpha Mae Stone

Alpha Mae Stone, 84, of Hagarville died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper.

She was born in Limestone, the daughter of the late William and Susie Curtis Davis, widow of Vernon Scott Stone, longtime resident of Newton County, member of the Deer Church of Christ, and was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Julie Ann Stone; five brothers, Truman, Custer, Russell, Beecher and Mitchell; and six sisters, Laura Davis, Stella and Pearlie Davis, Norma Stone, Verna Carlton, and Gracie Nelson; one great-grandson, Clayton Carney; and two great-granddaughters, Ashlyn Woods and Creasey Adele Stone.

Survivors are her children, James and Bernice Stone of Lurton, Jerry Stone of Jasper, Ricky Stone of Harrison, Billy and Shala Stone and Teresa and Danny Campbell, all of Hagarville, and Beverly and Wayne Cornwell of Knoxville; one sister, Imalee Cowick Hendrix of Gravette; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Deer School Gymnasium with Ricky Stone officiating.

Burial will be in Curtis cemetery at Limestone under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Argus Stone, Robert Stone, Kenny Stone, Travis Stone, Richie Stone, Timmy Stone, Michael Carney, Jamie Carney, Casey Campbell, Brandon Campbell, Eli Stone, Preston Stone, Dustin Adams and Tanner Wade.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
