Donald W. Pattermann

Donald W. Pattermann, 85, of Lamar died Friday, June 19, 2009, at his home.

A native of Winfield, Ill., he was a son of the late William and Katie Wolff Pattermann, served three and one-half years in the U. S. Marines in World War II with duty in Okinowa, former owner of a trucking and feed business, retired carpentry and contracting employee, and preceded in death by one sister, Irma Spiess of Florida.

Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Ione Komes Pattermann; two daughters, Cathy Pattermann of Van Buren and Marcia Miller and husband, Billy, of Lamar; three sons, Jeff Pattermann and wife, Kim, of Russellville, and Kevin Pattermann and wife, Kathie, and Greg Pattermann, all of Clarksville; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. William Wewers officiating. The body was cremated. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Johnson County Health Department Hospice, 1219 South Rogers, Clarksville, AR 72830 or Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Building Fund, 103 East Main Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Elizabeth Daniel

Elizabeth (Forrest Ann) Daniel, 72, of Summit Lake, Wash., died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Wash.

She was born in Raymond, Wash., to Phillip and Loleta Trimble McCully, former resident of McCleary, Garden City and White Star, Wash., 1956 graduate of Elma High School, former employee of the Elma School District, member of McCleary United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls, and lay minister for the Pe Ell United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie and Lenora; and two brothers, Dennis and Glen.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Daniel; three daughters, Loleta (Rick) Keel of McCleary, Wash., Leslie (Roy) Vessey of Summit Lake, Wash., and Teena (Tommy) Mathis of Houston, Texas; and two sons, Billy Daniel of Elma, Wash., and Stanley Daniel of Olympia, Wash.; one brother, Phillip McCully of McCleary, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Frances Daniel, Nita Daniel Lewis, and Wanda Daniel Pearson, all of Johnson County.

Funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma, Wash. Burial was at McCleary cemetery.

Memorials may be made to McCleary United Methodist Church, 426 S. 3rd Street, McCleary, WA 98557.

Hettie E. English

Hettie Elizabeth English, 83, of Hagarville died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a daughter of the late Guy Freeman and Pearl Thomas Freeman Standridge and member of the Lee's Chapel Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her husband, Loyd English; two daughters, Sharon Kay Wilkins and husband, Arlin, of Lamar and Donna Griffith and husband, Johnny, of Coal Hill; two sons, Eddie English and wife, Beverly, of Subiaco and Jerry English and wife, Janice, of Clarksville; two sisters, Imogene Robbins of Hagarville and Virginia Charlene Chesser of Clarksville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at Roller- Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger and Rev. Robbie Jackson officiating. Burial was in Annie's Chapel cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Derrick Wilkins, Clifton Wilkins, Ronnie (Herb) Chavers, Bart English, Jason Daggs, and Joey Griffith.

Honorary pallbearers were John Griffith and Robert Zinn.

James R. Martin

James R. (Mansy) Martin, 85, of London died Friday, June 19, 2009, at his home.

He was a son of the late Nin and Maxie Ruble Martin, native of London, United States Navy veteran of World War II, retired employee of AP& L after 20 years of service, member of London First Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Rye.

Survivors include his wife, Dortha Martin; one daughter, Bonita Mueller and husband, Johnny, of London; one son, James Martin of London; two grandchildren, Heather Mueller and Shaun Martin, both of London.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Danny Green and Rev. Gary Willcutt officiating. Burial was at East Point cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Dennis Lowe, Maxie Longing, Bo Parker, Johnny Johnson, Stephen Bocksnick, and Monte Estes.

Honorary pallbearers were Slim Parker, Glen Brown and Lloyd Esters.

Memorials may be made to Pope County Hospice, 404 North El Paso, Russellville, AR 72801.

Geneva P. Dahms

Geneva Phillips Dahms, 85, of Hot Springs died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Hospice Home Care Center in Little Rock.

She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Burl and Jeanie Nelson Phillips, graduate of Clarksville High School, attended the University of the Ozarks, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Lutz.

Survivors include her husband, Rinehold O. Dahms; two sons, Jerry Dzierlinga of St. Charles, Ill., and Danny Walker of Sycamore, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, at Oakland cemetery with Rev. Larry Horne officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Jackie Dale Swafford

Jackie Dale Swafford, 49, of Pettigrew died Friday, June 19, 2009, near Boston.

He was a native of Oark, son of the late Robert Dempsey Swafford, logger, Baptist, and was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Gene Swafford and one niece, Marissa Swafford.

He is survived by one son, Cody Swafford of Pettigrew; mother, Elizabeth Sarah Criss Swafford; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Billy Swafford of Pettigrew and Joe and Missy Swafford of Crosses; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Betty Byers of Pettigrew, Rita and Rick Grigsby of Hunt, Louise and Junior Ashlock of Clarksville, and Cindy and David Shepard of Coal Hill; 15 nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and great-nephews; one great-great-niece, and the mother of his child, Christy Meadors of Hindsville.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, at the Cave Mountain Church with Larry Johnson, minister, officiating.

Burial was in Cave Mountain cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.

Active pallbearers were Rick Criss, Donnie Grigsby, Ray Dowdey, Red Moses, Jody Dowdey, and Gaylen Dowdey.

Honorary pallbearers were Foye Kay Johnson, brothers-in-law, and friends.

George M. Patterson

George M. Patterson, 84, of Clarksville passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, at his home. He was born July 17, 1924, in the Redlick Community in Johnson County, Arkansas, to the late George and Louise Patterson. He was a World War II Marine Veteran who fought in the campaigns of Saipan, Tinian, and was wounded on Iwo Jima. As a result, he was awarded the Purple Heart. Later, he moved to Wichita, Kansas where he retired from Boeing Aircraft and the Wichita City Airport. He was also a master electrician and a devout member of the Clarksville Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bessie (Gordon) Patterson and his parents.

He is survived by his devoted friend, Wanda Low, of Clarksville, Arkansas; his brother Jim Patterson and his wife, Karen, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Betty Reggia of Roanoke, Virginia and Bertie Grober and her husband, Vince, of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is also survived by lifelong friends Debbie Smith and her husband, Randy, of Kansas; four nieces; and five nephews.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2009. The funeral service was at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel, in Clarksville, with John Ballard and Todd Rabalais officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Vernon cemetery, in Clarksville.

Pallbearers were Mike Patterson, Michael Grober, Wayne Grober, Bryan Shelly, Barry Morterud, and Jordon Smith.

Members of the Wednesday Night Dairy Freeze Group served as honorary pallbearers.
