Ruby Lucille Turnipseed
Ruby Lucille Turnipseed, age 91, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Monday, January 23, 2006 at the Homestead Manor Nursing Home in Stamps, Arkansas. She was born January 15, 1915 in Patmos, AR. Mrs. Turnipseed was a homemaker and a member of the Lewisville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Turnipseed.
She is survived by: two daughters & sons-in-law, Theda and Jimmy Perry of Lewisville and Sheila and Jerry Owens of Stamps, AR; brother, Otha H. Green of Lewisville; sister, Aline Landes of Waldo, AR; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Mickey May and Tye Barnett officiating and burial in Mt. Nebo Cemetery at Patmos, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Thomasene Jester Cook
Thomasene Jester Cook, age 70, of Bradley, Arkansas died Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the Springhill Medical Center in Springhill, Louisiana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bradley and a secretary for the Bradley Elementary School.
Survivors include: three sons, David Cook, II of Bentonville, AR, Mark Cook of Shreveport, LA, and Danny Cook of Texarkana, AR; five grandchildren, David Coy Cook, III, Remington Cook, Katie Cook, Caroline Cook, and Claire Beth Cook.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 23, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Bradley with Bro. Byron Allen officiating and burial in the Walnut Hill Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Lee Evelyn Hull
Lee Evelyn Hull, age 61, of Stamps, Arkansas died Friday, January 20, 2006 at her residence. She was born November 12, 1944 in Houston, TX. Mrs. Hull was an employee of Walmart in Magnolia, AR and a member of the First Baptist Church in Stamps. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilliary.
She is survived by: four sons, Donald Walls of Dover, AR, David Walls of Silsbee, TX, James Walls of Houston, TX, and Matthew Holcomb of Magnolia, AR; daughter, Elizabeth Walls of Evadale, TX; brother, Joe Jones of Williams, CA; twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Mike Turner officiating followed by a graveside service at 2:00 pm Monday, January 23, 2006 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Beaumont, TX.
Truman Lewish Byrd
Truman Lewish Byrd, age 76, of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. Mr. Byrd was born in Buckner, Arkansas on October 22, 1929. He retired from Southern Extrusion in Magnolia in 1975. He was a member of the Stamps Church of Christ and served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his son, Mark Byrd, his mother, Marie Byrd, father, Clyde Byrd, and one sister, Mary Turnage.
Survivors include: his wife, Velta Byrd of Stamps; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Lacy Rogers of Stamps; four sisters, Margie Couch of Magnolia, Dorothy and husband Roy Savoy of Magnolia, Betty Jo and husband Harland Rader of Sarepta, LA, and Christine and husband Larry Ray of Magnolia; five grandchildren, Kristen and husband David Reeves and Misty and Randy Byrd, all of Magnolia, and Shelly and Anthony Rogers of Stamps.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 pm on Monday, January 23, 2006 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Bro. Leon Watson officiating and burial in the Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Shirley Mae Reynolds
Shirley Mae Reynolds, age 74, of Taylor, Arkansas died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Summit Health & Rehab in Taylor. She was born October 16, 1931 in Salano Beach, California. Mrs. Reynolds was a homemaker and a member of The First Methodist Church in Taylor. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by: her husband, Jack Reynolds of Taylor; two sons, Roy Dawson of Eugene, OR and Greg Dawson of Porter, TX; daughter, Jacqueline Dison of Taylor; sister, Patricia Malloy of Grasspass, OR; fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 23, 2005 at The Taylor First Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Pulliam officiating and burial in Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Michael Hodnett
Michael Hodnett, age 48, of Stamps, Arkansas died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Magnolia Hospital. He was born August 30, 1957 in Buras, Louisiana. Mr. Hodnett was a member of the Buckner Baptist Church and employed by EZ Rental in Springhill, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Dorothy Maxine Hodnett.
He is survived by: a sister, Shirley DeLatte of Stamps; two brothers & sisters-in-law, Jerry & Judy Hodnett and Cary and Cathy Hodnett, all of Belle Chasse, LA; a host of nieces & nephews, Keith & wife, Sherrie Hodnett, John Hodnett, Ashley Hodnett, Jill & husband Jace Brooks and Tiffany DeLatte; one great-niece, Laken Hodnett.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Buckner Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Hawkins officiating and burial in Union Cemetery at Bodcaw, Arkansas.
Ivan P. Hanson
Ivan P. Hanson, age 92, of Stamps, Arkansas died Thursday, October 26, 2006 in Livingston, Texas. He was born September 16, 1914 in Hope, Arkansas. Mr. Hanson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stamps and retired from Armco Steel Production.
He is survived by: his wife, Birdie Hanson of Livingston, TX; son, Benny Hanson of Stamps; daughter, Geraldine Tagge of Livingston; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps with Rev. Mike Turner officiating and burial in Lakeside Cemetery at Stamps under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Lorene Hamiter
Lorene Hamiter, age 86, of Taylor, Arkansas died Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at the Willis Knighton Pierremont Health Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born January 31, 1920. Mrs. Hamiter was a homemaker, a Baptist, and loved flowers and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her husband John Garland Hamiter; a brother, M.C. Burns; and a sister, Jessie Papa.
She is survived by: two daughters & sons-in-law, Betty Atkins Iman & husband Clifford of Plain Dealing, LA and Johnette (Judy) Burnett & husband Cliff of Taylor; six grandchildren, Stacia Britt, Kim Wood, Rhonda Lyles, Todd Iman, Chad Iman and Lynn Iman; eleven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dixie Wilson of Hot Springs, AR; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Ernest & Dolly Hamiter of Waskom, TX.

J.C. "Kid" Turnage
J.C. "Kid" Turnage, age 72, of Magnolia, Arkansas died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at St. Michaels Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born April 4, 1934 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Mr. Turnage was retired from Arkla Gas Company.
He is survived by: two sons, Neil Turnage and Jerry Turnage, both of Magnolia; a daughter, Patricia Cutchall of Texarkana, AR; two sisters, Ivy Edman and Gertrude Huggins, both of Magnolia; brother, Edward Turnage of Lake Charles, LA; three grandsons, Jarriad, Chris and Waylon Turnage.
