BEN BETHANY JR.
Ben Bethany Jr., age 85, of Stamps, Arkansas passed away Friday November 25,2011 at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas. Mr. Bethany was born October 10,1926 in Shreveport, LA to Bennie Bethany and Elma Barton Bethany. Mr. Bethany served in the United States Navy and was retired after 42 years with the Cotton Belt Railroad. Mr. Bethany loved woodworking and blue grass music.
Mr. Bethany was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Dana Duke.
Mr. Bethany is survived by his wife of 64 years Merna Bethany of Stamps, Arkansas.
Son: Ken Bethany of Stamps, Arkansas
Daughter: Deborah and husband Jimmy Hendricks of Bossier City, Louisiana
Sister: Anita Chesser of Shreveport, Louisiana, Jennie Dean Vines of Vivian, Louisiana
Grandchildren: Don Nicholas and wife Sabrina of Minden, Louisiana, Chris and wife Terri Nicholas of Cabot, Arkansas, Kim and husband Ryan Raup of Conway, Arkansas, and by 7 great grandchildren.
Nephews: Donald Hopper, Rickey Kennedy of Bradley, Arkansas, Boyd L. Stewart of Plano, Texas. Kim Stewart of Katy, Texas

Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Monday November 28,2011 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Hooton officiating with burial to follow in the Lakeside Cemetery in Stamp, Arkansas under the direction of the A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Arkansas. Visitation will be Sunday November 27,2011 from 6-8pm at the Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Wadley Hospital ICU Doctors and Nurses and a special thanks to Dr. Blankenship and his staff Deena and Stacy at the Lewisville Dialysis Center.

Michael Bret Cannon
Michael Bret Cannon age 44, of Taylor Arkansas passed away Saturday November 12, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Cannon was born May 5, 1967 in Springhill, LA to Phillip Michael and Marilyn Richardson Cannon. Mr. Cannon was employed for the City Taylor as a supervisor for the Taylor Water Department.
Mr. Cannon is proceeded in death by his father. And Grandparents, Clovis and Daphine Cannon, and Dale and Gladys Burleson.
Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife Susan Cannon of Taylor, Arkansas.

Funeral Services will be held Monday November 14, 2011 at Forest Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Taylor, Arkansas with Bro. Jerry Evans, and Bro. Joe Stacks officiating with burial to follow in Taylor Cemetery, Taylor, Arkansas

MAVIS IONE HIGDON
Mavis Ione Higdon, age 71 of Bradley, Arkansas passed away Thursday November 24,2011 at LSU Hospital in Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Higdon was born June 19,1940 in Bradley, Arkansas to Clifford and Myrtle Jester Higdon.
Mrs. Higdon was preceded in death by her parents daughter Carol Beach and by one brother Ralph Morris Higdon.
Mrs. Higdon is survived by her Son: William Leimkuhl of El Dorado, AR
Daughter: Louise Miller of Hazelfull, Kansas
Sisters: Peggy Sims of Taylor, AR and Gracie Heacock of Arkadelphia, AR
13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 2pm Monday November 28,2011 at Stateline Cemetery with Bro. Easley officiating under the direction of the A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Arkansas. Visitation will be Sunday November 27, 2011 from 6-8pm at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Taylor, Arkansas.
Mary Grimmett Powell
Mary Grimmett Powell, age 82, of Magnolia, Arkansas, beloved by Christ, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Magnolia Hospital. She was born February 19, 1929 in Montgomery County, Mississippi to Benjamin A. Austin and Carrie Channell Austin.
She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and served faithfully as long as she was able.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Bobby Grimmett and Raymond (Rip) Powell.
She is survived by one son: Dr. Michael A. Grimmett and wife Debbie Grimmett of Wortham, Texas. Two grandsons: Benjamin F. Grimmett of West Monroe, Louisiana and Matt Grimmett of Bentonville, Arkansas. One sister, Dorothy and husband Lewis Ward of French Camp, Mississippi. One nephew Thomas Ward and family of French Camp, Mississippi, and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Stamps, Arkansas with Bro. Chris Lucy officiating under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Homes, Inc. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital, American Heart Association, or Antioch Baptist Church.
MARTHA ALMETA SHORT RICKETTS
Martha Almeta Short Ricketts, age 90 of Stamps, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 28, 2011. She was born September 23, 1921, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to the late Henry and Allie Morris Short of Waldo, Arkansas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 35 years in Stamps, AR.
Ms. Ricketts was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ricketts, parents, brothers, Bob Short and J.W. Short, and her sister, Lela Short Smith.
She is survived by her two daughters, Alice Ann Anderson and Ellen McMurrough of Stamps, Arkansas; one son, Warren Ricketts and spouse, Nancy of Winnfield, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Kalene Flowers, Louis Welch and spouse Monique, Neca Stockwell and spouse, Wesley, Stephanie Carter and spouse, Stan, Lucretia Anderson, Liz Fredereck and spouse, Les, Debbie Humphries and spouse, Mike, Cathy Frederick and spouse, Warren III, Kris Ricketts and spouse, Amy, Isaac Ricketts and spouse, Melissa; 20 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren and a Special Friend, Jo Gwen Phillips.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at 10 am at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR. Burial will follow at Shiloh Lamartine in Waldo, AR, with Bro. Joe Brown and Bro. Charlie Warren officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, from 6-8 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers are Jerry Ammons, Danny Smith, D.L. Monk, Rick Smith, Harley Tatom, Isaac Ricketts, Jared Carter, and Kris Ricketts.
