Ola Lee Johnson
Mrs. Ola Lee Johnson, age 94, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Saturday, November 15, 2003 at her residence. She was born July 3, 1909 in Mt. Holly, Arkansas to William and Addie Brown-Utsey. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church serving as a Mission Sister and choir member.
She is survived by: six sons, Burnell, J.B., Raymond and Howard Johnson, all of Flint, MI, Robert Johnson of Houston, TX, and Roosevelt Johnson of Lewisville, AR; five daughters, Burnice Hunley and Emma J. Johnson, both of Flint, Mattie Gillory and Ola J. Harris, both of Houston, TX, and Juanita Meadows of Denver, CO; two sisters, Ruth Williams of Denver and Gladys Brewster of Muskegon, MI; two brothers, Archie Utsey of Denver and Quinton Utsey of Elyia, OH; thirty-seven grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Howard Johnson officiating assisted by Rev. Imond Washington and burial at Old Town Cemetery in Lewisville under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Elmer Hampton
Elmer Hampton, age 91, of Stamps, Arkansas died Sunday, November 16, 2003 in Jackson, Tennessee. He was born May 8, 1912 in Oklahoma. Mr. Hampton was a retired employee of the City of Hope, Arkansas, a Baptist and was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Hampton and a daughter, Linda Teague.
He is survived by: one daughter & son-in-law, Wanda & Jim McSwain of Jackson, TN; son-in-law, Lester Teague of Buckner, AR; four grandchildren, Chad Teague of Stamps, Tracy Jeffus of El Dorado, AR, Jim McSwain of Bismark, AR and Beverly Cook of Lawson, MO; seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the Shiloh Cemetery north of Stamps with the Rev. Charles Loyed officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Faye Nolte
Faye Nolte, age 91, of Taylor, Arkansas died Monday, November 17, 2003 at the Springhill, Louisiana Medical Center. She was born September 2, 1912 in Bradley, Arkansas. Mrs. Nolte was a member of the Forrest Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School until age 89 and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred William Nolte and by her grandson, Billy Bland, Jr.
She is survived by: one son, Fredrick William "Billy" Nolte of Jonesboro, AR; two daughters, Joan Bland and Linda Umphries, both of Taylor; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at the Forrest Grove Baptist church with the Rev. Chet Johnson officiating and burial in the Walnut Hill Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Thomas Derrill Martin
Thomas Derrill Martin, age 51, of Stamps, Arkansas died Saturday, November 15, 2003 at his residence. He was born November 4, 1952 in Magnolia, Arkansas. Mr. Martin was a member of the Forrest Grove Baptist Church, member of American Associated Petroleason Land Men and retired from Land Sales and Leasing. He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Martin and by a daughter, Melissa Ann Martin.
He is survived by: his mother & step-father, Betty Jo & Travis Mitchell of Stamps; two sisters & brothers-in-law, Cassandra and Larry Fowler of Plano, TX and Missi & Danny Smith of Buckner, AR; one niece, Michelle McMurrough of Stamps; two nephews, Tyler Rowe of Mesquite, TX and Blake Fowler of Plano; one great nephew and one great niece. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Betty Sue Box Roberts
Betty Sue box Roberts, age 69, of Stamps, Arkansas died Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at the Wadley Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born March 5, 1934 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was preceded in death by: her parents, Homer & Pearl Box; son, Donny Green ; grandson, Lee Martin; and great granddaughter, Samantha Simerly.
She is survived by: three daughters & sons-in-law, Brenda & Richard Martin of Cale, AR, Barbara Cagle of N. Little Rock, AR, and Kathy & Alan Sarna of N. Little Rock; one sister, Opal Ogle of Stamps, AR; one brother, Sonny Tennison of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Brad Martin, Donald Ray Sellers, Misty Bradshaw, Nina Sellers, Aaron Sarna and Shelby Sarna; one great granddaughter, Lora Bradshaw; ex husband and long life friend of 37 years, Kenneth Fulmer; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2003 at the Lakeside Cemetery with the Rev. Micheal Mills officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Herman (H.L.) Lester
Herman (H.L.) Lester, age 77, of Texarkana, Arkansas formerly of Lewisville, Arkansas died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at The St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born April 6, 1926 in Texarkana, TX. Mr. Lester was a farmer and a longtime resident of Lewisville, Arkansas.
He is survived by: his wife, Joan Humphries Lester of Texarkana, AR; two daughters, Cindy Lester and Donna Lester, both of Fredrickburg, VA; sisters-in-law, Deane White and Jean Ham; brothers-in-law, Nicky Humphries, Ricky Humphries and Jimmy Humphries; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Lewisville.
Harry L. Darner
Mr. Harry L. Darner, Jr. age 88 of Bradley, Arkansas passed away Monday, November 10, 2003 in a Springhill, Louisiana hospital. Mr. Darner was a retired accountant and farmer, a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Bradley 1st United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Ann Darner of Bradley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Vivian Darner of Bossier City, LA and Don and Jeanne Darner of Lake Erling, AR; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Bradley 1st United Methodist Church with the Rev. Spencer Plumley and the Rev. Royal Dodson officiating and burial in the Walnut Hill Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, AR.
John Anthony Roberts
John Anthony Roberts, age 38, of Crossett, Arkansas died Monday, October 27, 2003 at his home. He was born January 11, 1965 in Homer, Louisiana. He was a comic book dealer and collector. He was preceded in death by two sons: Jacob Daniel Roberts and Stephen Shane Roberts.
He is survived by: his wife, Tammy Coday Roberts of Crossett; three sons, John Russell Roberts of Dubberly, LA, Raymond W. Roberts of Plain Dealing, LA, and Jason L. Cox of Stamps, AR; his mother, Andrea Roberta Brimer of Dubberly; one brother, Louis Henson of Little Rock, AR; grandson, Sladen J. Cox of Hope, AR.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with burial in the Sardis Cemetery north of Stamps under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Nobia Lee Williams
Nobia Lee Williams, age 96, of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Stamps, Arkansas died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at The Christian Care Center in Texarkana. Mrs. williams was born February 14, 1907 in Stamps. She was a homemaker and a member of The Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.
She is survived by: two sisters, Ruby Nicholas and Doyce Jones, both of Stamps; one granddaughter, Robin Barton of Boca Raton, FL; four great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at The Sardis Cemetery north of Stamps with Mickey May officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
