BESSIE LEE MITCHELL
Bessie Lee Mitchell, age 78, of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012. Mrs. Mitchell was born August 27, 1934, in Chinook, Montana, to Claude and Lucy Loveall. Mrs. Mitchell was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She attended Evening Light Tabernacle in Homer, LA.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jesse Lee Loveall; and daughter, Shirley Ann Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband, Boyce Mitchell of Stamps, AR; two sons, James Mitchell and wife, Elisabeth of Stamps, AR, and David Mitchell of Stamps, AR; daughter, Sharon Baxter and husband, Darryl of Stamps, AR; brother, Paul Loveall and wife, Ramona of El Mirage, AZ; two sisters, Eva Loveall of Laveen, AZ, and Claudia Rose and husband, Charles of Phoenix, AZ; ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR, with Rev. Tim Pruitt and Timothy Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Fouke, AR. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR.
Bobbie Genelle Barham
Bobbie Genelle Barham, age 68, of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at a Texarkana hospital.
She was born July 22, 1944 in Searcy, Arkansas to George Grandberry and Edna Pauline Barham.
Bobbie graduated from Stamps High School in 1963, attended college at A&M in Monticello, LA, Louisiana Tech at Ruston, LA, and was a lifetime member of Arkansas Am Vet’s Post 1994, a service organization. Bobbie was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after serving six years. While at college she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority; when leaving college Bobbie went to Minden, LA to teach at the Evergreen Presbyterian Vocational School for the mentally challenged. She was promoted to assistant supervisor of Total Girls Program in just a few short years. She participated faithfully in the Special Olympics for both boys and girls. Shortly thereafter Bobbie transitioned to Belle Chase State School, working in Vocational Rehabilitation Program, and Physical Educational with Olympics being high priority. Bobbie chaperoned student meets in New Orleans, LA, and on to nationals in Los Angeles, CA. The students enjoyed the meets, and it gave them a feeling of success.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her Father “Pete”Barham of Searcy, Mother, Pauline Ratcliff; Sister, Linda Jones Barham, and half Sister Joyce Lynn.
Bobbie had three special friends; Juanita Hickman, Marjorie Harrison, and Effie Phillips. A best special companion, four legged ‘Cricket’,my dog.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, Arkansas, under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Special Olympics, or the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
DAVID JESSE GRAVES
David Jesse Graves, age 73, of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012. Mr. Graves was born June 29, 1939, in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Graves was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Preston Graves and his sister, Shirley Irene Martin.
He is survived by his mother, Esther Graves Houston of Stamps, AR; three sisters, Esther Adelle McCoy of Shippensburg, PA; Alice Herndon and husband, Jerry of Keithville, LA; and Mary Herron and husband, Doug of Texarkana, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at 11am Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Mars Hill Cemetery with Bro. Joe David Osborne officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, AR. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR.
Edward Hampton Nicholas
Edward Hampton Nicholas, age 92, of Stamps, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 21, 2012. He was born August 1, 1920 in Patmos, Arkansas to John Victor and Pearl Nicholas. He was a member of the Church of Christ, cattleman, farmer, and owner of Sack and Save Grocery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Wife, Betty Murlene Nicholas; Two Sons, Rueben Nicholas and Nathan Nicholas, One Grandson, One Great-Grandson, Three Brothers, Three Sisters, and Three Step-Sisters.
He is survived by One Daughter and Son-in-Law: Judy and Earl Clark of Stamps, Arkansas
One Son and Daughter-in-Law: David and June Nicholas of Stamps, Arkansas
One Sister: Margaret Dennis of Magnolia, Arkansas
Nine Grandchildren, Thirteen Great-Grandchildren, and Two Step Great-Grandchildren
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Juerga Smith, and Bro. Bill Stock officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery in Stamps under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 26,2012 at the funeral home.
EFFIE MAE DAVIS PHILLIPS
Effie Mae Davis Phillips, age 86, of Stamps, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at the Homestead Manor Nursing Home in Stamps. She was born November 9, 1926 in Stamps to Albert and Nora Lee Davis.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Herbert Phillips.
Four Brothers: Marvin, Theodore, Tom, and Jeff Davis.
Three Special Friends: Annie Mae Rogers, Margie Harrison, and Bobbie Barham.
She is survived by her Daughter: Mary Ann Massey
Best friends: Virginia Covington and Family of Buckner, Arkansas
Two Nephews: Rick and Glen Davis of Trinity, Texas

ESTER LOUISE BAKER
Ester Louise Baker, age 76, of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012. Mrs. Baker was born July 3, 1936, in Stamps, Arkansas, to J.P. and Edna Beene. Mrs. Baker was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Stamps, AR. She was a registered nurse retired from Magnolia Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Baker was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents; Step-Father, Luther Alvin Harrison; her husband, C.P. Baker; son, Curtis Harrison; and sisters, Ruth Elmore and Mary Smith.
She is survived by her son, David Paul Baker and wife, Angie of Stamps, AR; four grandsons, Ryan Harrison and wife, Ivey of Henderson, NV; Lance Harrison of Stamps, AR; Collin Paul Baker and Jon David Baker both of Stamps, AR; brother, Jesse Beene and wife, Brenda of Stamps, AR; sisters, Daisy Dudley and husband, Robert of Bradley, AR, and Barbara Garrett and husband, Franklin of Texarkana, AR.
