Minister Lonnie Burton
Minister Lonnie Burton, 71, of Lewisville, AR passed away December 14th at Springhill Medical Center in Springhill, LA
He was born November 3, 1941 in Waldo, AR to Sam Burton & Mary Lee Eason-Burton. He attended Waldo Public Schools. He worked with various churches in the Canfield and Bradley area. He was serving under the ministry of Reverend George Harris, the pastor of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church and Community Church in Bradley, AR.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, (2)brothers: Floyd & Eugene Burton, (3)sisters: Pernella Moss, Helen & Marie Burton, (1)son: Randy Burton, and (1)grandson: Bruce Lee Marshall.
Survivors include: His wife: Mrs. Ella Mae Burton(Canfield, AR); (3)Sons: Lonnie Burton(Dallas, TX), B.B. Burton(Hope, AR), & Sammy Burton(Bradley, AR); (3)Daughters: Mrs. Helen Roy & Mrs. Betty Marshall both of Lewisville, AR, and Ms. Mary Smith(Friendship, AR); (3)Sisters: Ms. Essie B. Flowers(Hope, AR),Ms. Faye Taylor(Bradley, AR), & Ms. Thelma Wise(East Chicago, IN); (1)Brother: Lee Artis Burton(Canfield, AR); 8-Grandchildren, 4-Great Grandchildren; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 22nd at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bradley, AR with burial following in the Smith Cemetery in Waldo, AR.
Under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
Officiating will be Rev. George Harris.
Visitation will be Friday 11:am-4:pm at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR.
ROBERT RATCLIFF
Robert Ratcliff, age 73, of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Mr. Ratcliff was born March 25, 1939, in Oak Grove, Louisiana.
Mr. Ratcliff was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Ratcliff; one step son; one step-daughter; one brother; and two sisters.
He is survived by his step-son, Richard Belk and wife, Mary of Stamps, AR; brother, Byron Ratcliff of Colorado; grandson, Brian Belk and wife, Tonya of Greenbrier, AR; granddaughters, Theresa Cowling and husband, Gary of Texarkana and Tracey Keever and husband, Mike of Austin, TX; and other relatives.
A Visitation will be held from 1-3pm Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, Arkansas.
Evangelist Shirley Renice Alvarez
Evangelist Shirley Renice Henderson Alvarez, 48, of Buckner, AR passed away December 7th at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA.
She was born December 25, 1963 in Lewisville, AR to Bobby Lee Henderson, Sr. & Annie Mae Biddle-Henderson.
She graduate from Stamps High School in 1982. After graduation she joined the United States Navy. She attended College of the Sequoias in Visalia, CA and graduated May 27, 1994. She was the owner of Shirley’s Place in Stamps, AR, part owner of Nothing But Soul in Stephens, AR and co-owner of In Style Fashions in Lemoore, CA. She was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Lewisville, AR where she accepted her call to evangelism.
She is preceded in death by: her father: Bobby Lee Henderson, Sr. and a brother: Eric Henderson.
Survivors include: (1)daughter: Ms. Priscilla Alvarez(Dallas, TX); mother: Annie Mae Briggs(Stamps, AR); (2)brothers: Bobby Lee Henderson, Jr.(Buckner, AR) & Cedric Briggs(Waldo, AR); (4)sisters: Mrs. Mary Ann Davis(Stephens, AR), Mrs. Henrietta Curry(Texarkana, AR), Mrs. Teresa Johnson(Stamps, AR), & Linda Gaither(Longview, TX); A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 16th at 1:00pm at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR with burial following in the Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, AR. Military honors will be performed at the graveside.
Officiating will be Rev. Roderick Trotter.
Visitation will be Friday 11:am-4:pm at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR.
WILLIAM DAVID WOOLEY
William David Wooley 79, of Stamps, Arkansas passed away on December 16, 2012 at the Lifecare Specialty Hospital in Homer, Louisiana after a lengthy illness.
David was born January 2, 1933 in North Little Rock, AR the only child of the late Ples and Ruby Wooley. He was a 1950 graduate of North Little Rock High School. He earned a degree in Business Administration from Southern State College in 1956, now Southern Arkansas University, where he was a tackle on the Mulerider Football team 1952 to 1956.
He was employed by the Halliburton Company for eleven years, after which he returned to SSC and earned a BSE in Physical Education in 1968. In 1971 he received his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Henderson State University.
David served in the Stamps and Lewisville High Schools as teacher, coach, counselor and as psychological examiner until his retirement. Still very interested in sports he worked as a football referee, a baseball umpire and a timer in track and field events.
David was owner and operator of the “House of David” which built country furniture and many other wood products. He was a vendor at First Monday Trade Days in Canton, TX for 35 years.
David was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stamps, the Minute Man Sunday School class, the Columbia-Lafayette Chapter of Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. He was a 33rd Degree Mason with El Dorado Lodge #13, and a member of El Karubah Shrine Temple of Shreveport, LA, where he served in the clown unit as “Buttons” participating in many parades and fundraisers for the Shriner’s Children's Hospital of Shreveport, LA.
David is survived b:y his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Wooley of Stamps, two daughters Susan Chitwood of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Sara Wooley of Longview, Texas, one granddaughter, Linsey Williams and husband Travis of Coweta, Oklahoma and three nephews David, Bill, and Joe Simpson, and a host of friends across the entire Ark-La-Tex region.
Visitation will be Tuesday December 18, 2012 at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Arkansas from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday December 19, 2012 in the Smith Funeral Home at 10 am, with interment following in Delight Cemetery in Delight, AR.

Mrs. Daisy Lea Leaks Hall, 68, of Lewisville, AR passed away December 20th at St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, TX
She was born September 8, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA to Malvin Leaks & Mae Ola Hector-Leaks. She graduated from Garland High School in Garland, AR. She was employed by Wishan House and Klipsh. She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder James E. Jackson.
She is preceded in death by: her parents
Survivors include: her husband: Eddie M. Hall(Lewisville, AR); (2)daughters: Angela Johnson(Carrollton, TX) & Synthia Hobbs(Navarre, FL); (2)sons: Darrel L.
