HERBERT E. RUSSELL

Herbert E. Russell, age 87, of Magnolia, Arkansas, passed away, Sunday, March 10, 2013. Mr. Russell was born March 1, 1926, in Falcon, Arkansas, to Elmore and Verna Marlar Russell. He was the owner of Rustex Oil, Inc., SH&J Drilling Corporation, and Fred Stewart Trucking Company. Mr. Russell was a supporter of the Republican Party.

Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his parents; and two siblings, Dorothy Waters and Arthur Russell.

He is survived by three children, Wayne “Bubba” Russell of Magnolia, AR; Marie Vickers and husband, Billy of Magnolia, AR; and Betty Storar and husband, Jimmy of Shreveport, LA; sister-in-law, Betty K. Russell of Magnolia, AR; six grandchildren, Russ Storar, Sharon Wiggins, Todd Vickers, Bryan Russell, Brad Russell, and Chris Russell; and six great grandchildren, Cody Russell, Lexi Russell, Zack Wiggins, Klein Vickers, Bryce Vickers, and Blaine Vickers.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR, with Bro. Mickey May officiating. Interment will follow at Columbia Cemetery in Waldo, AR. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.

Mrs. Julia Louise Strong Easter

Mrs. Julia Louise Strong Easter, 84, of Waldo, AR passed away March 17th at her residence in Waldo.

She was born April 16, 1928 in Waldo, AR to Fred Strong & Cora Bell Baldwin. She attended Waldo Elementary School and later graduated from Magnolia High School. She won 1st place in spelling in the Columbia County Literary and Oratorical Contest She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree from Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, AR and later received her nursing degree from California State University. She was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Waldo, AR. She was employed as a nurse for the V.A. Hospital in California for 20 years and with the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock, AR for 10 years where she retired.

She is preceded in death by: her parents.

Survivors include: many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22nd at 11:am at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR with burial following in the Smith Cemetery in Waldo, AR

Under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.

Officiating will be Rev. Phillis Hamilton.

Visitation will be Friday 10:am-until service time only.

LANTZ WEAVER

Lawson Lantz Weaver, age 41, of Stamps, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Lantz was born January 31, 1972, in Lewisville, AR. His loving nature and sense of humor brightened the lives of all who knew him.

Lantz Weaver was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Mackey Weaver; grandparents, D.F. Turner III and Lottie Mae Turner; and Troyce and Ethel Shankles; and his step-mother, Dixie Beasley Weaver.

He is survived by his wife, Dana Griffin Weaver of Stamps, AR; mother, Jewel Turner Jaudon of Shreveport, LA; father, Lawson Weaver and wife, Patty of Gulfport, MS; three sisters, Morgan Jaudon and Chelsea Jaudon of Shreveport, LA; and Hali Weaver Frangiosa of King of Prussia, PA; brother, Aaron Jaudon of Shreveport, LA; uncle, D.D. Turner of Stamps, AR; in-laws, Lonnie and Shirley Rogers; brother and sister-in-law, Michael Rogers and Debbie Barton; beloved friends and adopted family, Cathy Conlin Duvall and Linda Conlin; Mark Jaudon; Willis Carter; and Robert Carter; and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR, with Bro. Donnie Edwards and Bro. Ernie Sorrells officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.

Mrs. Mary Lee Green

Mrs. Mary Lee Green, 77, of Stamps, AR passed away March 25th at her home.

She was born July 20, 1935 in Magnolia AR to Marvin Green, Sr. and Willie Mae Anderson-Green.

Her pass employment was with Firestone Manufactory in Magnolia, AR, Alan White Company in Stamps, and CNA assistant for In-Home Services. Her hobbies were fishing and playing dominoes.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, three brothers, and one grandchild.

Survivors include: Three sons; William Charles Ivory of Dallas, TX, Ricky Fuller of Grand Prairie, TX, and Carnell Fuller of Buckner, AR. Four daughters; Ms. Carolyn Fuller of Stamps, AR, Mrs. Charlie Mae Whitfield of Grand Prairie, TX, Ms. Essie Mae Fuller of Dallas, TX, and Ms. Virginia Fuller of Texarkana, AR. One brother; Marvin Green, Jr. of Dallas, TX. One sister; Mrs. Era Lee Torrence of Dallas, TX. Fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday , March 30th at 11:00 am at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR., with burial to follow in the Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, AR.

Under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.

Officiating will be Rev. Frankie B. Mitchel.

Visitation will be Friday 11:am-5:pm at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR.

Alma Rene Montgomery

Mrs. Alma Rene Montgomery, born January 5, 1919, known for her smile and laughter, passed peacefully in her Sherwood, Arkansas home on March 1, 2013, cared for by her only daughter Zina Horne and caregiver Josephine Scruggs with services provided by Odyssey Hospice.

Mrs. Montgomery loved the Creation. Zina fed the birds on the back patio so Mrs. Montgomery could watch them from her dining table. Bluebirds were a part of the family. Favorite pass times were reading her Bible and watching her willow tree blow in the wind.

Mrs. Montgomery spent most of her life in Taylor, Arkansas in a home built by her father. A portion of her career included serving Columbia County as tax assessor. Her life on the farm shared by her brothers, sister and parents were her most vivid memories.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Odis Montgomery, parents Willie and Allie Souter, her brother Arthur Souter and his wife Gisele, brothers Alvin Souter, Ernest "Buddy" Souter, sister Evangeline Knight and her husband Curtis, sister in law and brother in law Evelyn and Dennis McMullan, and sister in law Julia Ann Montgomery, niece Tandy Lowery.

She is survived by her only child Zina Montgomery Horne, husband Art Horne of Sherwood, granddaughter Brooke Sandlin and her husband Scott, great grandson Noah of Little Rock, Arkansas, granddaughter Brandi Fields and husband Dan of Memphis, brother Latson Souter, of Minden, Louisiana, brother Voyne Souter and wife Julia of Milledgeville, Georgia, sister in law Sybil Souter of Magnolia, sister in law Patsy Souter of Magnolia, Betty Souter of Tyler, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Welcome Cemetery under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home.

CORPORAL RODNEY WILSON “WIL” BURTON

Corporal Rodney Wilson “Wil” Burton, age 23, of Trent Woods, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013. He was born January 20, 1990, in Texarkana, Texas, to Rodney R. and Yleeta Burton.

Cpl. Burton joined the Marine Corps in July 2008, as a Consolidated Automated Support Systems Technician. He deployed with the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16 to Afghanistan in 2010. His awards include the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and two Navy Unit Commendation ribbons.

Cpl. Burton was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Raymond “Hooks” and Ann Burton; and maternal great-grandfather, Thomas E. Brady.

He is survived by his parents; wife, Brittany Vaughn Burton of Louisville, KY; maternal grandmother, Belinda Crews of Springfield, MO; maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Brady of Bisbee, AZ; sisters, Hannah Powell and husband, Jamie of Greenbrier, AR; Callie Coe Davis and husband, Jon of Springhill, LA; and Nicole Burton of Las Vegas, NV; three nephews, Gunner, Trigger, and Kenneth James “KJ”; one niece, Soraya; special friend, Amy Arthur of North Carolina; and numerous close family and friends.

Cpl. Burton will be given a service with military honors at 2 pm Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the Bradley Baptist Church in Bradley, AR, with Bro. Aaron Legget and Bro. Todd Pickard officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Bradley under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, AR. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Bradley Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 877-832-6997, the Semper Fi Fund, 760-725-3680, or other military charity organizations.
