William Dewey Minter, Jr.
William Dewey Minter, Jr., age 71, of Texarkana, Texas passed away Sunday, October 12, 2003 in San Antonio, Texas while attending a Navy reunion. He was born June 26, 1932 in Plainview, Texas. Mr. Minter was preceded in death by a son, Roland Minter.
Survivors include: his wife of 47 years, Patsy (Pat) Minter of Texarkana, TX; one sister, Geraldine Whitt of Harrison, AR; four brothers, Burl Minter, Milton Minter and Herman Minter of Simms, TX, Troy Minter of Ft. Smith, AR; two grandchildren, Michael and Melissa Minter of Red Lick, TX; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with the Rev. Andy Hawkins officiating assisted by Rev. Steven Minter followed by burial in the Shiloh Cemetery north of Stamps under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, AR.
Dewaine Cannon
Dewaine Cannon, age 55, of Taylor, Arkansas died Thursday, October 9, 2003 at his residence. He was born September 24, 1948 in Taylor. Mr. Cannon was an iron worker and was a 35 year member of the Local 591 Ironworkers Assoc.
He is survived by: his wife, Patty Cannon of Taylor; one son, Danny Cannon of Taylor; two daughters, Tammy Cannon and Hollie Cannon, both of Taylor; parents, Otis and Laverne Cannon of Taylor; one brother, Billy don Cannon of Taylor; one sister, Linda Harwell of Village, AR; five grandchildren, Megan McDonald, Daniel Dobbins, Jessica Dobbins, Coleman Dobbins, and Gracie McDonald.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2003 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Taylor with the Rev. Todd Pickard officiating and burial in the Forest Grove Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Imogene Rose Crank
Imogene Rose Crank, age 90, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Homestead Manor Nursing Home in Stamps, Arkansas. She was born September 7, 1913 in Patmos, Arkansas. Mrs. Crank was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church, old Lewisville.
Survivors include: one son & daughter-in-law, Gayther and Jana Crank of Lewisville; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with the Rev. Lane Garner officiating and burial in the Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Clyde F. Beavers
Clyde F. Beaver, age 69, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at a Texarkana hospital. He was born August 15, 1934 at magnolia, Arkansas. He was a retired employee of Hanson Aggregates Eagle Mills Plant and was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.
He is survived by: his wife, Mrs. Ruthie L. Beaver of Lewisville; four daughters, Beverly Beaver, Julia Peterson, Wanda Barnes and Clide Gill, all of Lewisville; three sisters, Earnestine Price of Stamps, AR, Verna Burdette of Minden, LA, Dorothy Jean Hampton of Texarkana, AR; one brother, George Langston of Stamps; nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. David Walters officiating and burial at Cross Roads Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
George Jurls
George Jurls, age 79, of Magnolia, Arkansas died Sunday, October 5, 2003 at the meadowbrook Lodge Nursing Home in Magnolia. He was born June 10, 1924. Mr. Jurls was a retired salesman for Fleet Tire Company and was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by: a son, Jimmy Ray Jurls; a brother, Ernest Jurls, Jr.; and by a sister, Juanez Cook.
He is survived by: four sons, George Eddie Jurls of McNeil, AR, Gary Jurls of Buckner, AR, Thomas Jurls of Plain Dealing, LA and Danny Jurls of Camden, AR; two daughters, Margie Nell Custer and Patricia Ann Jurls; two step-daughters, Joyce Baxley and Joyce Rena Jurls; two brothers, Delbert Jurls and Eddie Harris; three sisters, Jean Poindexter, Sue Dixon and Betty Harris; ex-wife, Margie Wilhite; fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Jimmy Wayne Hicks
Jimmy Wayne Hicks, age 38, of Chidester, Arkansas died Sunday october 5, 2003 at the Ouachita Medical Center in Camden, Arkansas. He was born March 17, 1965 in Lewisville, Arkansas. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Campbell.
He is survived by: one son, Joshua Hicks of Hampton, AR; daughter, Denise Hicks of Hampton; parents, Lonnie & Barbara Hicks of Chidester; three brothers, Billy Hicks of Springhill, AR, Kelly Campbell of Lewisville, AR and Bobby Hicks of Nash, TX; five sisters, Debra Miller of Prince Fredrick, MD, Barbara Jones of Stamps, AR, Dana Alsobrook of Chidester, Tina Lyons of Hope, AR and Kristi O'Dell of Waldo, AR; girlfriend, Cindy Lambert of Chidester; and several nieces and nephews.

Jean Galloway
Jean Galloway, age 87, of Stamps, Arkansas died Sunday, October 5, 2003 in Mesquite, Texas. She was born August 29, 1916 in Centerville, Arkansas.
Mrs. Galloway was the owner & operator of the Galloway Insurance Company in Stamps for many years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, member of the BPW Club, Women's Study Club, The Regional Library Association, member of the Literacy Council in Stamps. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Galloway and by a son, Bobby Stark.
She is survived by: one son & daughter-in-law, Peter & Sherilyn Galloway of Mesquite; two grandchildren, Brandon and Preston Galloway.

Edward Winnis McKamie, age 79, of Falcon, Arkansas died Friday, October 3, 2003 at his residence. He was born August 15, 1924 in Falcon. Mr. McKamie was a 36 year employee of De Lone Oil Company - he enjoyed the beauty of nature surrounding him. He was a member of the Falcon Church of Christ and was preceded in death by: his parents, Retha Cox & Robert McKamie; sister, Evalene; brother, Denton; and daughter, Elsie McKamie.
Survivors include: wife of 57 years, Frances McKamie of Falcon; daughter Gloria McKamie of Fayetteville, AR; brothers, Donald McKamie of Falcon and Wallace McKamie of Borger, TX; sister, Lurene Pierce of Falcon; four grandchildren, Courtney & Brannon McKamie Silkwood, Eddie McMahen, Kelly Bunch; four great grandchildren, Colton, Kendall, Jordan & Joshua; 40 nieces & nephews.

Marie (Recee) Rogers, age 64, of Buckner, Arkansas died Thursday October 2, 2003 at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born November 4, 1938 in Nevada County, AR. Mrs. Rogers was a homemaker and attended the Sardis Methodist Church.
She is survived by: her husband, Merrill Rogers of Buckner; one son & daughter-in-law, Ricky & Julie Rogers of Stamps, AR; two daughters & sons-in-law, Rhonda & Tony Robinson of Conway, AR and Teressa & Andy Bollinger of Slidell, LA; one brother, Harold Richardson of Emmet, AR; three sisters, Louise Wallace, Inez Randle and Ruth Edwards, all of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren.
