Betty J. Hoskinson
Betty J. “Ya-Ya” Hoskinson, 54, of Jacksonville died Feb. 13, 2002.

Survivors are her mother, Lilla Smythe, originally of Ward; two brothers, Joe Smythe of Searcy, and James Smythe of Batesville; son, Steven Lewis Hoskinson of Jacksonville; daughter, Melissa Beckham-Northington, Ft. Hood, Texas; and a grandson.

Funeral was private.

Aileen Lashley
Aileen J. Sentell Lashley, 88, of North Little Rock and Fairfield Bay died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002.

Born in Ward, she was a registered nurse for 41 years. Twenty-six of those years were spent at the North Little Rock VA Hospital at Fort Roots, where she retired in 1976. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Markham, of Hensley.

A graveside gathering was held Saturday, Feb. 16, at Roselawn cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Care Link Meals on Wheels, 706 W. 4th St., North Little Rock, Ark. 72114.

Jack D. Schoemaker
Jack D. Schoemaker, 79, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002.

He was a retired construction estimator, a member of Lifeline Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Schoemaker; children, Jack E. Schoemaker, Jill Stacy, Jeri Treadway of Little Rock, Joy Ort of North Little Rock, Janice Daniell of Arkadelphia; stepsons, Cliff Rives of Ward and Ben Rives of Perryville; ten grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Taylor of Little Rock and LaRose Dobbs of North Little Rock.
The funeral service was held Feb. 15, at Lifeline Baptist Church. Burial was in Little Rock National cemetery. Arrangements by Roller-Drummond Southwest.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Andrew Coffelt
Andrew Coffelt, age 88, died Feb. 13, 2002.

He was retired from Layne Arkansas Co. He served many years as a volunteer for the Carlisle Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Cora Mae Coffelt; children, Rosa Mae Evans of Stuttgart, Delores Robinson of Arlington, Texas, Homer Coffelt of Lonoke and Elmer Coffelt of Carlisle; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Inez Carpenter and Drewsilla Brown, both of Carlisle.

Services were Friday at Carlisle United Methodist Church with interment in Hamilton cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Memorials may be made to the Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department.

Edna Saurenman
Edna “Polly” Fielding Saurenman, 83, of Conway died Feb. 14, 2002.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Edna Ruth Lievsay of Winterville, Ga., Linda Carol Fielder of Jonesboro; one son, William Morris Fielding, Jr. of Cabot; one sister, Winnie Bailey of Willisville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and three foster great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to The Arkansas Hospice, 2200 Fort Roots Drive, North Little Rock, Ark.

John J. Madar
John J. Madar, 78, of Hazen died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002.

He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Slovak.

He is survived by five sons, Larry of Hazen, Chuck of Stuttgart, and Johnnie, Billy and Terry all of Carlisle; one daughter, Cheryl Briggs of Hickory Plains; three brothers, Paul, Steve, and Andy Madar; one sister, Veronie Fisher; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Rosary was Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen. Funeral services were Saturday at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Slovak with interment in the Slovak cemetery. Arrangements were by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

Edythe Trubey
Edythe Tolbert Trubey, formerly of Malvern, died Feb. 18, 2002 in Cabot.

She was born Dec. 4, 1905, to Louis Jackson and Della Hicks Tolbert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elsworth N. Trubey.

She is survived by a sister, Loreen Tolbert McCarter of Bossier City, La., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is a graduate of Carlisle High School, a licensed beautician for many years, and a charter member of the Stuttgart Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was owner/operator of a beauty shop in Dallas, Texas, in her younger years.

She was a member of and held many offices in the United Methodist Women in Rochester, Wash. Later she was a member of the Malvern United Methodist Church, the Smith-Young Circle, and the Malvern City Beautiful Garden Club.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke, with interment in the Carlisle cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Malvern United Methodist Church, Hamilton United Methodist Church, or the Hamilton or Carlisle cemetery Funds.

Lillie Arsula Riggs
Lillie Arsula Riggs, 97, of Jacksonville died Feb. 19, 2002.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a volunteer for the Jacksonville Senior Citizens Center. She was retired from Capitol Wholesale in Little Rock.

Survivors include sons, James E. Riggs Sr. of Mountain Home, Rev. John D. Riggs of Durant, Okla., and Joe C. Riggs of Cabot; a brother, Leonard Hamilton of Battle Creek, Mich.; a sister, Mickie Hoffman of Wichita Falls, Texas; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at noon, Feb. 21, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, North Little Rock.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 401 N. First St., Jacksonville, 72076.

Ella M. Zimmerebner
Ella M. Zimmerebner, 81, of Little Rock died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002. She was a Catholic.

She is survived by five daughters, Mary Ellen Kirchner of Little Rock, Lana Troxler of Fort Smith, Sue Dulany of Cabot, Augusta Lynn Merritt of Hot Springs and Sandy Ragsdale of Mustang, Okla.; a sister, Alma Henderson of Bryant; a brother, Joe Elliott of Little Rock; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Rosary service was held Thursday at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Southwest Chapel. The funeral service was Friday at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Southwest. Interment was in Calvary cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 N. University, P.O. Box 3822, Little Rock 72203 or to a charity of the donors’ choice.
