Allie Humphrey
Allie Humphrey, age 97, of Cabot, formerly of McCrory, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2002. She was a member of the McCrory Church of Christ.
She is survived by a son, Donald Humphrey of Oakhurst, Calif.; a daughter, Louise Creswell of Cabot; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, graveside, at Riverside cemetery in Mammoth Springs. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
Charles Templeton
Charles Raymond Templeton, 85, of Cabot passed away on his birthday, Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002.
He was a lifelong resident of Cabot where he was owner of Templeton IGA for almost 30 years. He had been a member of Cabot First Baptist Church for 56 years. He served his community and fellow citizens in many ways, including more than 20 years of service with the Cabot Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as chief. He was elected to the Cabot City Council and served as a director of Community Bank. He helped organize the Cabot Booster Club and coordinated blood drives for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in South Africa, Sicily and Italy during World War II. He was retired from the active reserves with the rank of Sgt. Major.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ada Templeton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Templeton of Cabot; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Paulette Templeton of North Little Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Troy Shafer of Cabot; grandchildren, Andy and Beth Shafer and Clay and Hallie Templeton; a sister, Lourene Gately of Cabot; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Cabot First Baptist Church. Interment was in Mt. Carmel cemetery.

Charles E. Campbell
Charles Edwin “Charlie” Campbell, 73, of Cabot, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002.
He was a member of the F&AM Lodge #319 in Cabot and a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of the Arkansas Retiree Association. He was retired from the United States Army, Special Forces.
He was preceded in death by two sons, John Edward Campbell on Dec. 31, 1975, and Clarence Walter Campbell on April 6, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Brigitte Halbritter Campbell of the home; two daughters, Virginia Shaver of Blacksburg, Va. and Charlotte Campbell of Cabot; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jackson Shaver of Blacksburg, Va.
Visitation is 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Services are 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at the Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
Jerry Dewayne Shirley
Jerry Dewayne Shirley, 53, of North Little Rock died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002.
He was a member of Pershing United Pentecostal Church of North Little Rock and a United States Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include his son, Jerry Shirley Jr. of Ward; mother, Faye Shirley of North Little Rock; two brothers, Melvin Shirley of Cabot, Jimmy Shirley of Sherwood; one sister, Debbie Ison of North Little Rock.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Pershing United Pentecostal Church, with burial in Gravel Ridge cemetery. North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge.
Adam Becker
Adam Becker, age 82, died Feb. 2, 2002, in Beebe.
He was born April 20, 1919, in Apatin, Yugoslavia. He was a retired steelworker and a Lutheran.
He is survived by his wife, Isabelle Becker of Cabot; daughters, Louise Crabtree of Brighton, Ill., Barbara Wolters of Cabot, Susan Aagard of Cody, Wyo.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Mathew Becker of Midway, Joe and Robert Becker of Granite City, Ill., Frank Becker of Caseyville, Ill.; sisters, Lena Hargrave of Livingston, Ill., and Anna Rosales of Swansea, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Searcy and Family Council of Beebe Retirement Center and First Lutheran Church, 8th and Rock Street, Little Rock.

Lester Mayfield
Lester Mayfield, 75, died Feb. 2, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Charlean Mayfield; daughter, Kathy Mayfield of Cabot; brother, Jimmy Mayfield of Morrilton; and two grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday at Mt. Springs Baptist Church with interment in Mt. Springs cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.
Richard Zelnick
Richard Zelnick, 81, retired Heber Springs merchant, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002.
He was a member of Heber Springs First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothea Mann Zelnick; and his children, Diane Milmont, Naperville, Ill., Richard Wayne Zelnick, Cabot, Kenneth Terry Zelnick, Russellville; brother, Troy Zelnick, Troy, Ohio; sisters, Alice Rajesky, Florida, Margaret Polak, Brookfield, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Feb. 5, at the First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by Olmstead Funeral Home.
Richard Dale Haynes
Richard Dale Haynes, age 68, of Cabot died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002.
Survivors are his wife, Patricia Haynes of the home; his son, John Haynes of Prescott, Ariz.; and two daughters, Holly Allen of Show-Low, Ariz., and Tracy McGinnes of Tucson, Ariz.; step-son, Christopher Banks of Benton; two step-daughters, Sharon McClure of Quitman and Kelly Wright of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 31, at Cabot Funeral Chapel. Interment was in Rest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
Ruth Lendermon
Ruth Trickey Bradford Lendermon, 92, of Rogers and formerly of North Little Rock, died Jan. 27, 2002.
She was born Dec. 20, 1909, in the Pleasant Hill Community of Lonoke County. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rogers.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Bradford of Rogers, Eddie Bradford of Fayetteville, and Larry Bradford of Austin, Texas; a stepdaughter, Phala Stanley of Yuba City, Calif.; one brother, Gene Trickey of Little Rock; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was Thursday, Jan. 31, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, North Little Rock. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

G.L. “Leon” Kelley, 73, Benton, died Sunday.
Survivors: daughters, Leah Stephens, Benton, Leslie Wolfe, Greenwood; brothers, Bill Kelley, Cabot, Bobby Kelley, Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Evelyn Wilson
Ruth Evelyn Wilson, age 77, died Jan. 29, 2002.
She was a member of Lonoke Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and Bible classes for 50 years and was active in Women’s Missionary Union and Bible study fellowship. She was a retired Service Representative for Southwestern Bell.
Survivors include her husband, Bill E. Wilson; daughter, Billie Sue Holt of Encinitas, Calif.; son, John Larkin Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday at Lonoke Baptist Church with interment in Concord cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.
