Hettie Elmore
Hettie Elizabeth Seamans Elmore, 96, of Star City died Thursday.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grady.
Survivors include a son, Charles Elmore of Carlisle; a daughter, June Abbott of Star City; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Saturday at Hamilton cemetery in Lonoke County. Arrangements were by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
Carthel Allen Griggs
Carthel Allen Griggs, 84, of Conway, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002.
She was of the Mormon faith.
She is survived by sons, Jack Griggs of Conway and Jerry Griggs of Ward; sister, Jackie Lyons of Oregon; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway with burial in Foster cemetery in Scotland.
Frank Dockery
Frank Dockery, 68, of England, died Jan. 30, 2002.
Survivors: wife, Charlene Dockery; children, Charles, Kavin, Tammy, Sashia, Valarie, and Donnell; brothers and sisters, Barbara Tilton, Betty Hills, Gloria Brooks, Chukes, Willie Casey, Lillie Spencer, Elbert, Creston Dockery, Mary Littleton.
Funeral services: Monday, Greater Second Baptist Church with burial in Lonoke cemetery. Arrangements: Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home.
Nell Kusturin
Nell Sivils Kusturin, 73, of Hamburg died Thursday.
She was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Hamburg and a former employee of Missouri Pacific Hospital in Little Rock having retired in 1976.
She is survived by two daughters, Nelda Hodges of Shannon Hills, and Cynthia Anderson of Cabot; two brothers, Rev. James T. Croswell of Marlow, Okla., and Gordy Croswell of Little Rock; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Interment was in the Hamburg cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Larry Caldwell
Larry Caldwell, age 58, died Feb. 1, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Bonita; one son, Keith Caldwell of Lonoke; two brothers, David Caldwell of Corning and Richard Caldwell of McRae.
Funeral services were Monday at the Lonoke United Methodist Church with interment in Concord cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Neva Dell Sutton
Neva Dell Sutton, age 61, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002.
She is survived by a son, Chris Sutton and wife Camille of Collierville, Tenn.; a daughter, Vicki Crump-Childers and husband Darrell of Cabot; her mother, Emily Lybrand of Sheridan; three brothers, Ronald Lybrand of Metarie, La., Howard Lybrand of Sheridan, Jim Lybrand of Benton; a sister, Nelda Butler of Benton; and six grandchildren, Kyle Childers, Kinley, Colton and Hayley Crum and Alex and Christopher Sutton.
Graveside services were Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 at Sylvania cemetery.

A.J. Pounders
A.J. Pounders, 78, of Lonoke died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002.
He was born June 20, 1923, in Malvern, Arkansas to Thomas J. and Mattie E. Pounders.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty J. Pounders; one son, Jay (Debbie) Pounders of Springdale; two daughters, Beth (Danny) Wright of Lonoke and Patsy (Jim) Goode of Cabot; four grandchildren, Mike (Christy) Pounders of Olathe, Kansas, Randy (Sarah) Pounders of Fayetteville, Rachelle Wright of Lonoke and Katy Wright of North Little Rock; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Morgan and Brock Pounders of Olathe, Kansas.
He served with the 82nd Seabees during WW II and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 40 years of service.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, at Lonoke First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Nicholas Lascaro and Dr. Jeff Pounders officiating. Burial was in Lonoke cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke.
Pallbearers were Robert Glover, James Nix, John Ross, Phillip Pounders, Andy Pounders, Jeff Hill and Charlie Travis.
Memorials may be made to the Lonoke First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
John Edward Haymes
John Edward Haymes, 85, of Austin, Arkansas died Saturday, January 5, 2002.
He was a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Blanche Sims Haymes of Austin, Arkansas; one daughter, Diane H. Griffin of Austin, Arkansas; three grandsons, Eddie and his wife, Candy Griffin of Austin, Arkansas, Keith and his wife, LeAnne Griffin of Des Arc, Arkansas, and Lynn Griffin of Austin, Arkansas; two great-granddaughters, Lauren Griffin of Ward, Arkansas and Keithlea Griffin of Des Arc, Arkansas; five sisters, Lorene Fisher of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Billie Haymes of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Virginia Hargis of South Gate, Michigan, Fern Case of Clawson, Michigan and Faye Reimers of Austin, Arkansas; three brothers, Darrow “Sonny” Haymes of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Ray Haymes of Beebe, Arkansas, and Tony Haymes of Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, May Anne Haymes, in 1945; his sister, Linnie Moran; and brothers, Truett and Tommy Haymes.
Funeral was at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Westbrook Chapel, with burial in Apple Hill cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.
Scott Garland
Scott Garland of Union, S.C., formerly of Jacksonville, died Jan. 10, 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mable Garland; daughter, Lisa Joan of Centreville, Va.; three sons, George “Chip” of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sam of Jacksonville, and John of Cabot; and six grandchildren.
He served in the Army during the Korean War, and retired from the USAF and the Veterans Administration at Fort Roots, North Little Rock. He was a member of the Hospice program, worked in the prison ministry, a counselor at the juvenile boy’s ranch, a nursing home ministry, and a hospital ministry. He volunteered in the VFW and the Vietnam Veterans Association and his church.
Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Hospice, any Lupus Chapter, or veterans’ organization.
Mildred Lowry
Mildred Guest Lowry, 82, of Little Rock died Jan. 13, 2002.
She worked as a housing specialist for the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church..
She is survived by her husband, Robert Lowry of Falls Church, Va.; a daughter, Anne L. Heyne of San Diego, Calif.; a son, Robert J. Lowry of Annandale, Va.; one brother, V.P. Guest of Cabot; and a granddaughter.
