Emily Carson-Curry
Emily Grace Carson-Curry, infant daughter of Stephanie Carson and John Curry of Cabot, died April 19, 2005.
She is survived by her parents, two brothers, grandparents and great-grandparents.
A graveside service was held April 23 at King cemetery.
Hazel E. Howard
Hazel Elizabeth Howard, 91, of Jacksonville, died April 23, 2005. She was born in Lonoke. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
She is survived by four children Peggy Wright of Jacksonville, Rita Holland of Alexander, Bill Howard of Jacksonville, and Carolyn Rooks of Fishers, IN; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and sister, Rachel Gresham of Little Rock.
Funeral services were held April 26, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Burial followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
William H. Hughes
William H. “Billy” Hughes, 43, of Little Rock, died April 15, 2005.
He was a clerk for Zimmerman’s Sport Center.
He is survived by his stepfather, J.C. Chaney of Jacksonville; brothers, James Lee of Cabot, Jerry Chaney of Little Rock and Robert Chaney of Jacksonville; sisters, Donna Suitforth of Cabot and Tammy Johnson of Scott.
Graveside service was April 18 at Ivy Chapel cemetery.
Glenn Willard Smith
Glenn “Smitty” Willard Smith, 70, of Jacksonville, died April 20, 2005.
He served his country in the National Guard, U.S. Army and finally retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired owner, operator and truck driver for Cal-Ark Trucking.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Doris Smith; son, Mark Edward Smith of Jacksonville; and one grandson.
Graveside services were April 25, at the Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock.
Jean Leslie Bissell
Jean Leslie Bissell, 80, of Cabot, died April 25, 2005. She attended school in Little Rock, North Litle Rock and Draughan’s Business School. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by four sons and one daughter: Robert of Chester, Conn., Rick of Guilford, Conn., Eugene of Walkerton, Ind., Michael of Bowling Green, Ky., Kethleen of Jacksonville; and one adopted son, Dan; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Thursday, April 28, in Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. She will be cremated. Memorials may be made to Aplastic Anemia Foundation.
Ralph Allen Hanner
Ralph Allen Hanner, age 51, of McRae, died April 24, 2005 in Searcy.
Survivors include three sisters: Jo Staley of Austin, Hazel Thomas of Beebe, Linda Britton of McRae; one brother Butch Hanner of McRae.
Memorial services 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Thomas Funeral Service, 713 South Second St., Cabot, AR.
Isaac Gales
Isaac Gales, age 81, went home to be with Lord April 30, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Bernice Gales; three daughters, Margaret Hanks (Wayne) of Carlisle, Linda Johnson (Allen) of Cabot, Beverly Carr (Bob) of Lonoke; two brothers, Lloyd Huggs of Carlisle and Leroy Gales of Des Arc; sister, Della Mae Waddell of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of friends and family. He was a farmer for many years before going to work for Remington Arms. He retired in 1986.
Funeral Services were held Monday at Boyd Funeral Home with interment in Center Point cemetery, Hazen.
Louis Rudolph Moss
Louis Rudolph “Rudy” Moss, 69, died April 23, 2005 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his son, Robbie; a grandson, James; and his sister, Louise. He was the son of the late W.C. and Nora Moss of Carlisle. He is survived by his wife, Delores, and his son, DeWayne Moss of Kansas City, Kan.; four brothers, James Moss of Claremore, Okla., Tom Moss of Carlisle, Tony Moss of Tulsa, Okla. and Stanley Moss of DeValls Bluff; grandchildren, Robert “Worm” Moss, Chrystile Moss, Randy Moss, David Moss and Jason Dakota Moss; two great-grandchildren, Cazjun and Blayne Moss, all of Kansas City, Kan.
A cremation service was held April 25 in Kansas.
Elsie Mae Hassen
Elsie Mae Hassen, age 88, died April 28, 2005.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Hassen of Cabot, Ray Hassen of Carlisle, Zelma Thurgood of Carlisle, Geneva Moore of Bismarck, Janie Clark of Hot Springs, Sam Hassen of Bismarck, Tion Hassen of Jonesboro and Lucy Hornbeck of Hoxie; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren, 10 great- great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday at Moore’s Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville with interment in Chapel Hill cemetery; arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Heart Association.
Millie Beggs Malnar
Millie Beggs Malnar, age 90, died April 29, 2005. She was a former resident of Carlisle and a retired employee of Carlisle High School.
Survivors include her children, Ron Malnar of Cabot, Arnell Malnar, Jr. of Casa and Ruth Cullins of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were Monday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Birta. Committal services followed in Walters Chapel cemetery at Carlisle, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
Donald O’Neal Meador
Donald O’Neal Meador, 84, died April 19, 2005 in Houston, TX.
Survived by wife, Corinne Hartmen Meador; sisters, Jean Graham, Laura Wingfield; son Dick Meador; grandchildren; step-daughter, Olivia Wood.
Coach Meador was head coach at Cabot from 1946 thru 1950, for Cabot’s first football team after World War II and basketball coach and track coach for both boys and girls. He had two trainers and no assistants; kept study hall and taught a math class – salary $2.200 a year. He returned to Cabot for a number of class reunions, the last in the summer of 2000.
Memorial services were at Spring Woods United Methodist Church, April 22. The family asks donations to the American Heart Association.

Hazel Elizabeth Howard, 91, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, April 23, 2005. She was born in Lonoke. In 1931 she married
the late William Howard and in 1944 they moved to Jacksonville. She was a member of First Baptist church in Jacksonville.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Rev. Mason Bondurant and Rev. Cliff Hutchins officiating. Burial followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

Jean Leslie Bissell, 80, of Cabot, died April 25, 2005.
She was a housewife and a Baptist.
Survivors include her sons, Robert of Chester, CT, Rick of Guilford, CT, Eugene of Walkerton, IN, and Michael of Bowling Green, KY; daughter, Kathleen of Jacksonville; adopted son, Dan; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Dorothy L. Keller
Dorothy Lorraine Keller, 58, of Cabot, died April 25, 2005.
She attended Nichols Hills Elementary, Harding High School, and Central State College, receiving her degree in elementary education.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry, of Cabot; daughter, Catherine Ann McCutchen, of Cabot, Sheryl Lynn Cook, of Broken Arrow, OK, and Susan Lorraine Kendall of Rogers; five grandchildren; and sisters, Elizabeth Prosser, Carol Magness, Mary Flaim and Alice Litteken.
A memorial service was held at Cabot United Methodist Church on April 27.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society’s programs for breast cancer research, advocacy and awareness.
