Josephine Pearl

Josephine Pearl, age 77, of Ward, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005.
She is survived by one son, Aubrey L. Pearl of Little Rock; one daughter Lynnette Anderson of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepson Bobby J. Pearl of Cabot, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at New Horizon Baptist Church with burial in Butlerville cemetery under the direction of Westbrook Funeral Home.

Harold E. Jones

Harold Eugene “Dopie” Jones, of Cabot, went to be with his Savior, Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the age of 87. He was born April 19, 1917 in Vanndale, Arkansas to Preston and Elma Jones. He came to live in Cabot when he married Mary Elizabeth Kerr of December 23, 1940.

He served his country proudly in the Army during World War II from May 6, 1942 until September 23, 1945. He was a mason and an active supporter of the Lonoke County Democratic Election Commission having served many years as an election official. He served eight years as an alderman for the city of Cabot in Ward 2 and was the chairman of the committee for numbering the homes in Cabot. He was an avid fisherman; a Boy Scout leader; a coach for the Little League Baseball team for six years. Harold was a charter member of the VFW and helped raise money for the Veterans Park by going around with a few others carrying a car on a truck to sell chances at $1.00 a ticket. Someone from Augusta won the car. Harold retired from the Cabot Fire Department after twenty years. He also retired from the V.A. Hospital at Fort Roots after twenty years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary of the home; daughter, Dian Evans and Darv; two sons, Eugene and his wife Sue Jones and John Jones; a brother, Larry Jones and his wife Betty of Wynne, Arkansas. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and three great-granchildren. He will be sorely missed by his family.

He is preceded in death by a son Ronald Keith Jones; three brothers of Wynne and one sister of Memphis.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Cabot with interment in Mt. Carmel cemetery. Visitation was 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at the funeral home.

Wanda Glen Martin

Wanda Glen Martin, 78, of Cabot, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005. She was a member of the Cabot Church of Christ, a retired school teacher and member of The Red Hat Society.
She is survived by a son, Robert W. Martin of Cabot; a sister Mabel Cook of Jackson, MS, two grandchildren, and a great grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with burial in Falcon cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home-Stamps.
Memorials may be made to Cabot Church of Christ.

Michael Ray Peeks

Michael Ray Peeks, 33, of Lonoke died Feb. 23, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Terry; daughters, Amber and Elizabeth of Lawton, OK; stepsons, Justin and Joshua of Lonoke; sisters, Becky Porter and Debbie Cole of Lonoke; and brother, Bobby Peeks of DeWitt.

Funeral services were held Feb. 26, at Brownsville Baptist Church with interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lonoke.

Ella Leola Roberts

Ella Leola Crook Roberts, 90, of North Little Rock, died Feb. 24, 2005.
She was of the Nazarene faith.

She is survived by her daughters, Lemeta Roberts Skipper of Cabot, and Helen Roberts Jones of Port Royal, SC; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was held Feb. 28 at Lost Creek cemetery in Sheridan.

Dorothy I. Rose

Dorothy I. Rose, 64, of Hensley died Feb. 24, 2005.
She was a member of Lone Pine Missionary Baptist Church and was a supervising seamstress at the Arkansas Lighthouse for the Blind.

Survivors include sons, Anthony W. Rose of Sheridan, Thomas Clark Rose and Billy W. Rose both of Hensley; six grandchildren; brothers, Farrel Rockwell, Bill Rockwell and Garland Rockwell, all of Humnoke; sisters, Rosie Carter of Humnoke, Violet Jones of Wabbaseka, Louise O’Neal of Cabot, Betty Underwood of Carlisle, and Elaine Kimsey of Stuttgart.

The funeral service was Feb. 28, at Lone Pine Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Miller officiating.

Interment was in Orion cemetery at Hensley.

Troy Lynn Carpenter

Troy Lynn Carpenter, 49, of California died Sunday, February 27, 2005. He was born September 7, 1955. He is survived by two daughters, Tramra L. & Threresa L. Carpenter of Norman, Oklahoma; one granddaughter; his mother, Betty Dotore and Tony of Austin; father, Louis Carpenter and wife Winona; and brother, Wayne Carpenter and wife Vera, all of Lonoke; three sisters, Emma Lee Carpenter of Oklahoma, Martha Jane Sanders of Jacksonville and Joyce Ann Pittman of Lancaster, California. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation, 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pamela Williamson

Pamela Walker Williamson, 47, of North Little Rock died Feb. 20, 2005.
She is survived by son, B. Norman Williamson, Jr., of North Little Rock; parents, Leola and Henderson Cooney of Lonoke; sisters, June Richardson of Edgewood, KY, Vernistene Golden of Arlington, TX; brother, Carl Andre Cooney of Jacksonville.

Funeral services were held Feb. 26, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, in Lonoke.

Curtis Gurley

Curtis Denton Gurley, 89, of Biscoe died Feb. 23, 2005.
He was a member of Biscoe Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by daughters, Carolyn Prince of Biscoe and Gail Newell of Cabot; brothers, Earnest Gurley of Biscoe, and Marvin Gurley of Memphis, TN; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Feb. 25, 2005 at Biscoe Assembly of God Church, with Bro. Mark Kirkpatrick and Dr. Floyd Ray officiating. Burial followed in Biscoe cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Biscoe cemetery Fund.

John H. Bopp

John H. Bopp, 69, of Cabot, died on Feb. 24, 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Bopp of Cabot; daughter, Cynthia L. Preston of Delray Beach, FL; sons, Robert A. Bopp and Richard L. Bopp, both of Cabot; brother, Philip G. Bopp of Powell, TX; sister, Vivien L. Curtis of Ferndale; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 28, 2005, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Chapel in North Little Rock and interment followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Grace Community Church, building fund, in Cabot.

Lois C. Parker

Lois C. Parker, age 79, died Feb. 23, 2005. She is survived by four sons, Robert Parker and Danny Parker of Dover, Leo Parker of Clinton and David Parker of Meridian, Miss.; three daughters, Patsy Parnell Of Russellville, Sissy Duvall of Dover and Brenda Christopher of North Little Rock; one brother, Eugene Spears of Lonoke and two sisters, Hazel Donahue of California and Lucille Breashears of Hot Springs; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke with interment in Sumner cemetery.
