Ethel Roberson of Cabot died Aug. 12, 2004.
Funeral was Aug. 14, at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth. Burial was in Pinecrest.
Cynthia Gail Rouse
Cynthia Gail Doepel Rouse, 47, of Benton died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004.
She was a seamstress and employed as a secretary at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She was a member of several square dance clubs and recently received her national certification as a square dance caller. She had been a substitute Sunday school teacher and was church secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stuttgart from 1975-76. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in DeWitt.
Survivors are three sons, Jonathan Heath Robertson, Christopher Scott Robertson and Nicolas Brook Robertson, all of Ward; her parents, Herman and Carolyn Doepel of Stuttgart; one sister, Deborah Reynolds of Almyra; one grandson.
Funeral services were Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stuttgart with burial in Ulm Zion Lutheran cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home, Inc. of Stuttgart.
The family suggests memorials to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 903 E. Second, DeWitt; St. John’s Find Us Faithful Fund, 205 E. Fifth, Stuttgart; or the donor’s choice.
Betty Ann Cook
Betty Ann Cook, 70, of Lonoke died Aug. 11, 2004.
Survivors are her brothers, Phillip of New Mexico and Joe of Maryland; sisters, Mary of Virginia, Katherine of Florida and Barbara of Tennessee.
Graveside service was held at Sunset Memorial Garden by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Arkansas Hospice.
Loyd Doyle Dyson
Loyd Doyle Dyson of North Little Rock, died June 23, 2004. He is survived by one son, Larry Dyson; two daughters, Eddy Lois and Lisa; one sister, Esther Turney; and several grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Graveside service was Sunday, June 27, 2004, at Dunkard cemetery.
Lillie M. Simpson
Lillie Manning Simpson, 85, of Sherwood, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004.
She was a charter member of First Assembly of God Church, North Little Rock.
Survivors include: four daughters, Betty Fortner of Vilonia, Wanda McCraw of Sherwood, Flora Smith of Sherwood and Linda Harness of Cabot; sisters, Bonnie Robinson of Lumberton, Texas, and Valrie Johnson of Beebe; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was Friday, June 25 at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Edgewood cemetery.
Leola Drayer Carroll
Leola Drayer Carroll, age 70, died June 25, 2004. Survivors include sons: Harry Carroll, Sammie Carroll, Jr., James Carroll, Mark Steve Carroll and Victor Carroll; daughters, Dorothy Hunter, Jannie Davis, Judy McElwee, Barbara Baggies and Peggy Washington; step-children, Kaye Ward and Amy Carroll; one brother, Roy Coleman; five sisters, Reola Coleman, Viola Coleman, Cubitha Miller, Jewell Shephard and Mahalie Williams; 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke. Burial will follow in Lonoke cemetery.
W. ‘Bill’ Tilghman
William “Bill” Tilghman, 80, died last week. He is survived by 3 children, Kenneth Tilghman of Clarksville, Tenn., Robert Tilghman of Azle, Texas, and Diane Owens of Lonoke, 1 sister, Jennie Crouch, Winn, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Tilghman was in the Army from Dec 11, 1941 until Oct 21, 1945. He then enlisted in the Air Force May 28, 1948, retired May 1, 1964. He retired as a staff Sgt. Advanced to Tech Sgt. On March 13, 1974; He was awarded the Citation and Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service while assigned as a B-58 crew chief, 43rd Organizational Maintenance Squadron 43rd Bombardment wing at Carswell Air Force Base, Ft Worth, Texas, from Nov 15, 1959 until March 31, 1964. He was a resident of Lonoke for 29 years and an active member of American Legion Post 200.
Funeral Service was Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lonoke, with interment at Brownsville cemetery.
Troy Edwin Myers
Troy Edwin Myers, age 66, of Beebe, Arkansas, died Sunday, June 27, 2004. He was a retired building contractor. Troy was an Army paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Carlisle, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Myers; two sons, Stephen and wife Marilyn Myers of Lonoke and Kevin and wife Becky Myers of Cabot; two stepsons, Wade Taylor of Ward and Keith Taylor of Cabot; two daughters, Leslie Myers of Little Rock and Susan and husband Kenny Bolen of Cabot; one stepdaughter, Sandy and husband Robert Bolin of Cabot; seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Chasity, Kepi, Chase and Lehman Myers, Terry and Tim Bolen; two step-grandchildren, Amanda and Jenna Bolin; and two great-grandchildren, Jadyn and Kaylee Bolen. Sara Lynn Steelman
Sara Lynn Steelman, age 47, of Little Rock went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, June 22, 2004. She was born August 16, 1956 in Texarkana, Texas, the daughter of Harold and Carolyn Corley Steelman. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock and an employee of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Harry and Emma Steelman and her maternal grandparents, Vernard and Mary Lelia Corley.
In addition to her parents she is survived by a son, Jason Corley Fields and his wife Teresa, grandson, Tyler Fields; a daughter, Amy Fields; a brother, Hal Steelman and his son, Houston; Kyle Scruggs whom she loved as a son; her cherished pet, Nebo; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2004 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel (224-8300) with Dr. Ed Simpson and Rev. Jimmy Wallace officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Mary Alice Mayer
Mary Alice Mayer, age 96, of Cabot, formerly of Memphis, died Saturday, June 26, 2004. She was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dr. Raymond F. Mayer; one son, Bob Mayer of Ward; three daughters, Carolyn Arnold of Lakeland, Fla., Mary Gibbs of Nesbitt, Miss., and Becky Gribble of Germantown, Tenn.; one sister, Elizabeth Walther of New Orleans, La.; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Cabot United Methodist Church. Interment was Tuesday in Memorial Park, Memphis, Tenn., by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Memorials may be made to Cabot United Methodist Church, 2003 South Pine, Cabot, AR 72023.
Madie Marie Milam, age 82, of Beebe, died Friday, June 25, 2004. She was a member of Country Chapel Church.
Survivors are her son, Billy Milam of Beebe; her daughter, Irma Sarringer of Higginson; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Linnie Mae Beavers of Ward. Family received visitors at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe Sunday. Funeral was Monday, June 28, 2004, at Country Chapel Church, Sylvania, with burial in Old Austin cemetery.
J.C. Taylor
J.C. Taylor, age 64, of Vilonia, died Saturday, June 26, 2004. He was a member of El Paso First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Johnson of Woodlawn, Rebecca Mitchell and Roxie Andrews both of Vilonia; three sons, Johnny Taylor of El Paso, Bobby Taylor and Steve Taylor both of Romance; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six sisters and two brothers.

Joe Calvin Shannon
Joe Calvin Shannon, age 95, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, June 27, 2004. He was a veteran of World War II and served in England for four years. He retired after many years as a rural postal carrier.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Vernie Griffin Shannon; one son, Michael Champlin and two grandchildren.

Marca Lynn Hodges Lee, 50, a 1972 Carlisle High School graduate, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2004, at an Arlington, Texas hospital.
Marca was born, June 27, 1953, in Dallas, TX. Survivors are Shannon Lee, daughter, Michael Lee, son, both of Grand Prairie, TX; grandchildren, Michael and Samantha Lee, both of Grand Prairie, TX; parents, John and Margaret Hodges of Wilmer, AR; sister, Judith Coats of Cabot, AR; brothers, Lewis Hodges of Wilmer, AR, and John Hodges of Stuttgart, AR; and a special cousin and friend, Cheryl Stephenson of Arlington, TX.
