Larry Sydney Elliott
Larry Sydney “Lil’ Haticall” Elliott, 54, of Humphrey died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003.
He was owner of Larry’s Auto Sales and had worked at Riceland Foods Inc. as a rice grader for 13 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Jo Baker Elliott; his son, Robby Elliott; his daughter, Robin Elliott Golleher; 4 grandchildren; three brothers, Starlin Elliott and Steve Elliott, both of Stuttgart, and Jimmy Elliott of Carlisle; two step-brothers, Don Warner of Stuttgart and David Warner of Clarendon; and three sisters, Joyce Larkin of Hazen, Betty Nick of Greenbrier; and Emmagean Crosset of Port Arthur, Texas
Funeral services were Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial in Frazier cemetery.
Larry Dean Clark
Larry Dean Clark, 61, died Saturday, Oct. 18.
Survivors: wife, Sharon Clark; sons, Larry and Jonathan Clark; daughter, Crystal Clark, all of Lonoke; mother, Thelma Clark; sister, Betty Kirsch both of Sherwood; brothers, Don Clark, Clarksville, Jerry Clark, Redfield, Tony Clark, McCrory.
Graveside services were Tuesday, Lewis cemetery, Hickory Ridge. Kernodle Funeral Home, Wynne in charge.
Mardell T. Harris
Mardell T. Huff Harris, 76, of Monticello died Oct. 19, 2003.
She was a retired owner of a day care and nursery and a member of Second Baptist Church of Monticello.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Harris of Monticello and Homer Wayne Harris Sr. of Star City; three daughters, Jane Allen of North Little Rock, Pat Grant of Warren and Eleanor Gibbons of Little Rock; and a half-brother, Mark Huff of Jonesboro; four sisters, Addie Schrader of Ward, Martha Davis of Pine Bluff, Betty Rodgers of St. Charles, Mo., and Joan Treece of Mesquite, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Wednesday, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home Chapel, Monticello. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
Rudy Bouwknegt
Rudy Bouwknegt, 68, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was in law enforcement for 23 years. He retired in 1994 from the Jacksonville Police Department a Detective Sergeant after 17 years of service. He received numerous awards and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal.
Survivors include his wife Carlean; sons, Rodney Bouwknegt of Ward, Ronnie Brown of Jacksonville, Lee Moore of Ward and Steven Bouwknegt of Jacksonville; daughters, Adeline Buettner and Kathleen Hauser, both of Florida, Connie Trent of Alabama, Tamela Vanover of Jacksonville and Patricia Bouwknegt of Vilonia; brothers, Willard and Frederick Bouwknegt of Michigan; sisters, Mynda Ridley of Florida and Sally Lambert of Michigan; 25 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Oct. 20, at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home followed by entombment in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
Joan S. Shackleford
Joan Swicegood Shackleford, 87, of Bee Branch, widow of Henry Wilson Shackleford, died Oct. 15, 2003.
She was born in Lonoke.
She is survived by her only child, William Wayne Shackleford of Bee Branch; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; a brother, John Swicegood of North Little Rock; and three sisters, Margaret Swicegood Douglass of Little Rock, Anna Swicegood Sniff of North Little Rock, and Virginia Swicegood Purifoy of Little Rock.
Graveside service was Oct. 20, at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth was in charge.

Marjorie May Weber
Marjorie May Weber, 94, died Oct. 17, 2003.
She is survived by sons, James Weber of Spokane, Wash. and Donald Weber of Lonoke; daughters, Dorothy Burton of Sherwood, Betty Wilson of Turlock, Calif., Pat Weber of Red Bluff, Calif., Rose Piazza and Margaret Glover, both of Lonoke, and Sandy Weber of Cabot; 22 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary service was Sunday at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke, with funeral Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church, Jacksonville.
David Hayes
David Hayes, 64, of Mulberry, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003. He was a truck driver for Penske Trucking, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his parents, Carl and Ruth Hayes; his wife, Tessa Hayes of Mulberry; daughters, Lisa Woodall, Austin and Lana Poe, Pangburn; son, Tim Hayes, Cabot; three step-children, Stephanie Hudson, Paris, Ricky and Shannon Dool, Mulberry; sister, Kay Taylor, Wilburn; brothers, Charles Hayes, Cabot, Steve Hayes, Sherrill Hayes, and Ricky Hayes, all of Wilburn; seven grandchildren.
Graveside service was Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Hight cemetery with burial at Hight cemetery, Mulberry, by Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Steven C. Gamblin
Steven Barton Calhoun-Gamblin, age 19, of Shannon Hills died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003.
He worked in Colorado doing demolition.
Survived by his mom and dad, Donald and Gladys Calhoun of Shannon Hills; father and stepmother, Fred and Rose Gamblin; sisters, Wilma Wintz, Kim Turner and Toni Gamblin; brothers, Scott and Chris Gamblin.
Services were Oct. 19, at Campground Union Church in Cabot with burial at Evans cemetery.

Rhoda K. Glover
Rhoda Fentrice Kelly Glover, 94, of Lonoke, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2002 at Parkway Health Center, Little Rock.
She was a graduate of Lonoke High School. She taught piano, voice and accordion for over 65 year in Lonoke County. Her traditional recitals were wonderful but long. Every student was spotlighted. She taught music in Carlisle Public Schools and at Arkansas State University at Beebe.
Her parents, Miles D. Kelly, M.D. and Mary Susan Hodges; her husband, Luther W. Glover; her brothers, Miles F. Kelly, M.D., Robert M. Kelly, M.D. and Rear Adm. James W. Kelly USN (ret.) preceded her in death.
Survivors are nieces and nephews, Mary Jane Taylor, guardian, of Little Rock, Betty L. Kelly, M.D. of Carson City, Nev., William P. Kelly, Sheridan, Carrie Sue Sullivan, North Little Rock, Robert M. Kelly, Jr., Waco, Texas, T. J. Miles Kelly, Hephzibah, Ga., James M. Kelly, Alexandria, Va., Miles D. Kelly, Lexington, Va., Ruth Tweedy, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Ann Marie Watson, Lufkin, Texas, and James Berry Varnell, Houston, Texas.
Graveside service was Friday, Sept. 6, at Salem cemetery, Carlisle.

Joyce Ava White
Joyce Ava White, 62, of Monticello died Sept. 2, 2002.
She was a member of Monticello Baptist Temple Church.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Randall White of Glendale and Stephen Mark White of Monticello; two daughters, Debra Lynn Cater of Monticello and Amy Regina Beaty of Stuttgart; six brothers, Billy Burris of Dermott, Earnest Burris of Michigan, Johnny Burris of Connecticut, Frankie Burris of Cabot, Lawrence Burris of Monticello and Roger Burris of Oklahoma; one sister, Carolyn Taylor of Woodlawn; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Wednesday at the Monticello Temple Baptist Church. Burial in Old Union cemetery by Stephenson-Dearman.
