Irene Phillips Smith
Irene Phillips Smith, 83, of Magnolia, died March 20, 2004.
She was a seamstress for Shanhouse and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors are three daughters, Peggy LeMay of Jonesville, La., Alice Shinn of Hot Springs and Wanda Peterson of Magnolia; two sons, Robert Phillips of Jacksonville, and Larry Phillips of Cabot; two step-daughters, Sue Warner and Charlotte Anderson both of Magnolia; two brothers, Raymond Warner of Magnolia, and Austin Warner of Benton; one sister, Dorothy Warner Cinnamon of Fort Smith; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were March 23, at Lewis Chapel with burial at Shiloh cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Magnolia or the American Heart Association.
G. M. Trumpfheller
Georgia Mae Trumpfheller, 80, of Cabot died March 18, 2004.
She is survived by son, Elmer Trumpfheller Jr. of Cabot; daughters, Wanda Ward and Mae Merrill, of Cabot; brother, Elmer Johnson of Russellville; sisters, Elizabeth Hamblin of California, Alice Bratton of Atkins, Jewel Lawhorn of Pottsville, Pearl Norris of Atkins; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was March 22, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Jacksonville, with interment at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
Joseph A. Zarlingo
Joseph Anthony Zarlingo of Plumerville died March 19, 2004.
He was a Korean Navy veteran, an Honorable Justice of the Peace, and past Commander of Post #39 in Plumerville. He served as principal at Cabot High School and at Jacksonville Junior High School. He was superintendent of Plumerville, Ola, Perry-Casa, Leadhill, and Springhill School near Hope. Mr. Zarlingo attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Center Ridge.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Knoff Usery Zarlingo; sons, Mike Usery, Patrick Usery, and John Zarlingo, all of Plumerville; daughters, Judy Moore of Cabot, and Jennifer Jones of Plumerville; brothers, Ernie Zarlingo of Smithton, Ill., and Pasco Zarlingo of West Memphis; sisters, Rebecca Zimmerman of Oppelo, and Bennie Latimer of Morrilton ; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Rosary was March 22, at Harris Chapel. Funeral service was March 23, at Harris Chapel with burial at St. Joseph’s cemetery near Center Ridge by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Oscar A. Burnett
Oscar A. Burnett, age 81, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, March 18, 2004.
He was the retired owner and operator of O. B. Repair in Jacksonville. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a Baptist. He was a charter member of the Jacksonville VFW.
He is survived by two sons, Eddie Howell of Baltimore, Md., and Terry Howell of Jacksonville; one daughter, Arvena Gene Frazier of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral was March 22, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Sylvania cemetery, Ward.
Clifford E. Burrow
Clifford E. Burrow, 82, of Cabot, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004.
He retired from the Air Force with 28 years of service. He was of the Baptist belief and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was a 30-year member of the Eagles Club.
He is survived by one son, Gary L. Burrow of North Little Rock; one daughter, June K. Burrow of North Little Rock; one stepdaughter, Lorita Heatherly of Cabot; one sister, Cleo McConkey of Little Rock; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Friday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Walnut Grove cemetery.
Grover C. Sparks
Grover Cleveland “Pete” Sparks, 95, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Jacksonville, died March 17, 2004.
He was a member of Bayou Meto Baptist Church and a retired rancher in Cabot.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Edith Juanita Sparks; two sons, Gilbert Carmical of Sherwood, and Russell Sparks of Palmdale, Calif.; daughter, Jeannie Ballard of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, Jim Gann of Arkadelphia; and sister, Lonnie Sandlin, of Leesburg, Fla. 14 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday at Bayou Meto Baptist Church. Burial was at Sumner cemetery. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home.
Joe Wayne Ebbs
Joe Wayne Ebbs of Sheridan, was born May 23, 1924, and died March 15, 2004.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II in Okinawa and Iwo Jima and also fought on land with the United States Marines. He was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church, was a member of the V.F.W. and was a retired gas station owner.
Survivors: sons, Danny Joe Ebbs of Carlisle, Jerry Don Ebbs of Little Rock, Michael Wayne Ebbs of Benton; daughters, Sandy Lunsford of Sheridan, Samantha Lester of Bauxite; brother, Hicks Ebbs of Memphis; sister, Hilda Mae Smith of El Dorado; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were March 18, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Burial was in Memorial Gardens cemetery, Sheridan. Arrangements by Memorial Gardens Funeral Home of Sheridan.
Walter Herbert
Walter Herbert, 76, of Ward, died Thursday.
Survivors: daughters, Peggy Hawthorne, Ward and Idella Herbert, Maine; son, Tony Herbert, Massachusetts; stepchildren, Andrew Jackson Jr., Ward and Marsha Dehart, Perry, and several grandchildren.
Graveside service was Friday, at Coffeyville cemetery by Bald Knob Funeral Home.
Illamae Hodges
Illamae Hodges, 86, of Austin died March 15, 2004.
Survivors are husband, Coy; son, Loyd; sisters - Opal and Bertha; brother, Leon; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Friday in Sumner cemetery. Huson Funeral Home, Sherwood, was in charge.
