Garland H. Taylor
Garland Herald Taylor, age 87 of Cabot, died Jan. 12, 2005.
He was ordained and pastored for the Church of the Nazarene from 1944 through 1957. He then joined the Bible Missionary Church, where he pastored until 1982.
He is survived by Ida, his wife of 64 years, four sons, Neal, Curtis, David and Joseph, two daughters, Linda Smith, Mildred Kyle, 23 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Vetrol Sanger, Faye McCullough and Maxine Goodwin.
Funeral services were Jan. 18, at Bible Missionary Church, Cabot, with Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in charge.
Dana Lynn Hone
Dana Lynn Hone, 41, of Ward, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005.
She was an RN in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Memorial Medical Center in North Little Rock.
Survivors include her husband, Bert Hone Sr. of Ward; two stepsons, Bert Hone Jr., Joshua Hone, both of Maumelle; one stepdaughter, Sarah Daniels of Searcy; her father Harvey Murphy of Pocahontas; sister Dawn Bowman of St. Louis, Mo.
Services were Monday in Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home and burial was in the Masonic cemetery in Pocahontas.
Fred M. Freeman
Fred Monroe Freeman of Landis, died Jan. 11, 2005 at the age of 86.
His primary occupation was raising beef cattle and strawberries. He also worked at the area stave mills. In 1965, he began working for the Arkansas State Highway Department and worked there until he retired in 1981. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a former Justice of the Peace, and active member of the Searcy County Democrat Committee, and a member of the Strawberry Growers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Auga; and two daughters, Sharon Massey and Peggy Ragland of Marshall; one son, Danny Freeman of Conway; two sisters, Rose Gray, Ark.; one brother, Glen Freeman of Cabot; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Jan. 14, at the Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall with burial in the Memorial Garden cemetery in Marshall.
Jerry H. Price
Jerry H. Price, of Cabot, age 76, died Jan. 10, 2005.
No services were held. The body was cremated and will be buried in Springfield. Arrangements were made by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills.
Charles Skaggs
Charles Skaggs, 87, of Cabot, died Jan. 10, 2005.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a retired nurse’s aid.
He is survived by children Edna Odom and C.W. Skaggs ; two grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements were by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.
Atha G. Holland
Atha Guyneth Holland, 88, of McRae died Jan. 10, 2005.
She was a member of 16th Section Union Church.
She is survived by two sons - Allen Holland of North Little Rock and Harry Holland of McRae; one daughter - Ludie Jones of Lonoke; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchil-dren; one brother, Dallas Hughes of North Little Rock; three sisters - Adavene Ward of Quitman, Melva Middleton of Peoria, Ill., and Ragene Stark of Heber Springs.
Funeral was Thursday, Jan. 13, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Weir cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, P.O. Drawer 222, Little Rock, Ark. 72203.
Carroll Anson Fraser
Carroll Anson Fraser, age 82, died Jan. 5, 2005. He is survived by his wife Della Fraser; one son, Eric Anson Fraser and his wife Jeanneane of Maumelle; a brother, Mario Fraser and wife Mary and one sister, Faotta Collins, all of Searcy; three grandchildren, Eric Fraser, Jr. and wife Hayley of Texas, Laura Andrews and husband Daniel of Sherwood and Rachel Allen & husband Derek of St. Frances and great-grandchild, Colton Fraser. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Concord United Methodist Church with interment in Concord cemetery, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to Concord United Methodist Church.
Effie Pearl Wheeler
Effie Pearl Wheeler, 89 of Little Rock died Jan. 8, 2005. Mrs. Wheeler was born in the Sixteenth Section community. She recently went to live with her brother, Hubert Lee Pool. She was a life-long member of Sixteenth Section United Methodist Church. She is survived by her grandson; sister, Ruby Mae Marshall of Walls, Miss., her brothers, Raymond Pool of North Little Rock, Hubert Lee Pool of Little Rock, and her stepson, Joe Wheeler of Salado.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12 in the Chapel of Cabot Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Singh officiating. Burial will follow in Sixteenth Section cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Troutman, Joe Gunter, Jimmie Austin, Jim Merkel, Charles Stocks, and Noble Rees.
Elmer L. Mahoney
Elmer Lewis Mahoney, age 87, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005. He was a self-employed construction worker and a farmer. He was the general contractor that built Russell Chapel Nazarene Church where he was a lifetime member. He is survived by three sons, George Mahoney, Elmer Mahoney, Jr. and Paul Mahoney all of Cabot; one daughter, Nina Mahoney of Cabot; two brothers, Bill Mahoney of Cabot, Walter Mahoney of Ward; one sister, Pauline Gregory of Jacksonville; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Russell Chapel Nazarene Church with Rev. Steve Zumalt officiating. Burial followed in King cemetery. Pallbearers were George Mahoney, Seath Mahoney, Jacob Culbertson, Noah Culbertson, Sam Shepherd and Tommy Mahoney. Cabot Funeral Home was in charge.
Coy Audrol Taylor
Coy Audrol Taylor, 69, of Beebe, died Jan. 9, 2005. He was born in Pumpkin Bend. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic and was stationed in Germany 1957 through 1959. He was a machinist by trade.
He is survived by Vera Remley Taylor; three daughters, Rita of Beebe, Libby Gosvener of Jacksonville and Teresa Weston of Cabot; three sons, Micheal Douglas of Beebe, Arnold Taylor of Beebe and Audie Taylor of Beebe; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Eddy of Cabot, Sue Stewart of Beebe and Wanda Moore of Indianapolis, Ind.; five brothers, Grady Taylor of North Little Rock, James Taylor of McCrory, Elvin Taylor and Jerry Baker of Cabot and Doyce Baker of Ingalls, Ind.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005 at Westbrook Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Carmel cemetery.
Alfred E. Huggs
Alfred E. Huggs, age 61, of Crossroads Community, Carlisle, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005. He was retired from Hazen Tec, a member of Hickory Plains United Methodist Church and a Navy Vietnam Veteran. An active volunteer in the Crossroads Community, he was a charter member of Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Prairie County Sheriff’s Auxiliary.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda Berry Huggs; daughters, Lyndilyn Clark of Crossroads and Janice Evans of Lonoke; one grandson; three brothers, Lloyd Huggs of Carlisle, Issac Gales of Lonoke, Leroy Gales of Des Arc; two sisters, Mattie Faye Shay and Della Mae Waddell of Oklahoma.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Gospel Mission Church, Des Arc, with burial in Hickory Plains cemetery. Arrangements by Westbrook Funeral Home.
