Wade Cook

Wade “Dub” Cook, age 75, of Jacksonville died Dec. 23, 2004.

He retired from the United States Air Force and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lou; two daughters, Cindy A. Brewer, Sharon A. Cook; two sons, Michael A. and Cody J. Cook; two granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.

Graveside services were Dec. 27, at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Cabot. Arrangements by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

John E. Knoedl

John Everett Knoedl, 81, of Little Rock died Dec. 20, 2004.

He is survived by one sister, Patricia Granberry, of Oppelo; two sons, John Paul Knoedl, of Houston, David Keith Knoedl, of Benton; two daughters, Carol Stephanie Smith, of Kimberly City, Mo., and Karla Kathryn Bellisle, of Cabot; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was a World War II Army veteran, having served with the 736th Field Artillery Battalion and a lifetime member of VFW Post 9095. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. His career and passion was saw milling.

Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Park. North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge.

Wallace B. Shillcutt

Wallace Brantley “Wally” Shillcutt, 75, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 23, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Tull Shillcutt; two sons, Michael Wallace Shillcutt of North Little Rock and Daniel Brantley Shillcutt of Cabot; two grandsons; two stepdaughters, Karla Tull Aron of Laramie, Wyo., and Jennifer Tull of Little Rock.

He served in the Navy in World War II. He retired as a master electrician after 55 years of service with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 295. He was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church and was a regular attendee of Christ Episcopal Church.

A celebration of Wally’s life was held Dec. 28, 2004 at North Little Rock Funeral Home, with burial in Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock.

Rickey Dean Allen

Rickey Dean Allen, 32, of Cabot died Wednesday.

He is survived by his parents, Otis and Shirley Shaw of Hidgen; son, T.J. Allen of Heber Spring; brothers, Billy and Donnie Allen of Little Rock; sister, Tammy Fitzwater of Witts Springs.

Services were Monday, Bee Branch Baptist Church, Bee Branch. Interment: Bee Branch cemetery. Heber Springs Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

John David Porter

John David Porter, 33, died Dec. 22, 2004.

He was an electrician by trade, and an Eagle Scout.

Survivors include his parents, Johnny and Ida Faye Porter of Lonoke; brother, Shane Porter; sister, Audra Porter Williams.

Services were Monday at Gateway Fellowship Church in Lonoke with interment in Brownsville cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Bertha M. Anderson

Bertha M. Anderson died Dec. 19, 2004.

Survivors: two daughters, Bernice Parham of Hot Springs and Judy Lewis of Lonoke; two sons, Ronald of Carlisle and Robert of North Little Rock; 21 great-grandchildren.

A homegoing celebration was held Dec. 23 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Carlisle. Services entrusted to Premier Funeral Home, Little Rock.

Meldon Williams

Meldon (Trent) Williams, age 58, died Dec. 23, 2004.

Survivors include his son, Raymond Williams of Lonoke, mother, Myrtle Williams of Jacksonville; stepdaughters, Brenda Philo and Rebecca Hodges of Vilonia, Diane Head and Vicki McCarty of California; brothers, Gaylon Williams of Malvern and Doran Williams of North Little Rock; sisters, Gloria Bradly of North Little Rock and Debi DuFur of California; two grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with interment in Hamilton cemetery, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

Martha L. West

Martha Louise West of Cabot was born September 29, 1905 in Beebe, AR, to Matilda Hickman and Finley Worthington. She passed away December 27, 2004 at the age of 99. Mrs. West was a life long resident of Little Rock until she moved to Cabot in 1992. Sher is preceded in death by her husband Elbert Cecil West and a sister Sue W. Park of Cabot. Survivors are a nephew, J.M. Park of Cabot, also a niece Mrs. Joe Park (Sarah).

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2004, at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander with Rev. Ray Vining officiating. Arrangements by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock. Earl D. Dollahite

Earl Douglas Dollahite, 62, of Austin, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, after a long battle with diabetes and cancer. He was a tool and die maker for 40 years until he retired due to illness in 2001. He was a Baptist and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sylvia Spence Dollahite; his daughter, Donna of Austin; another daughter, Gabby Korter of Hildon, Germany; three grandchildren; four sisters, Lillian Hawkins, Mary Lee Keen, Ila Higdon and Betty Keen.

Visitation will begin noon Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Victory Baptist Church, Cabot with burial in Sylvania cemetery.

Frank E. Graves

Frank Earnest Graves, age 82 of Ward died Dec. 28, 2004. He was retired with 28 years of service from the Dysart School District, Peoria, Ariz. A WWII Veteran of the United States Army, he fought in Germany and received a purple heart for his service. He is survived by his wife, Gurstal Skaggs Graves of Ward; son, Rev. Gary Graves of Lonoke; daughter, Brenda Johnson of Austin; five sisters; one brother; two grandsons; three great-grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 30 in the Chapel of Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Johnson and Rev. Gary Graves officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Arkansas State Veterans cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Graves, Jr., Steven Graves, Doug Johnson, Heath Sweeten, Craig Austin, and Clarence Byrd. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29 at the funeral home.

Charley B. Simpson

Charley Barrett Simpson, born Aug. 12, 1913, died Sept. 3, 2004.

He was a Navy veteran of WWII and a retired painter.

Survivors include three sons, Booker Simpson of Alexander, Limuel Simpson of Lonoke and Hurston Simpson of Little Rock; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death is his wife of 51 years, Willene Jacobs Simpson; and a daughter, Sara Carey.

Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 6, at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke, with the committal service in Bayou Meto cemetery, near Lodges Corner.
