M. D. Lendermon
A special son, Maxson Dow Lendermon of Cabot was born on Jan. 24, 2004, already in the arms of Jesus.
He will be greatly missed by his mommy and daddy, Darren and Karen Lendermon of Cabot; grandparents, Russell and Kaye Lendermon of Cabot, Dow and Becky Currier of Little Rock; great-grandparents, Bob and Bo Gibbs of Cabot; aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
On Sunday, Feb. 1, a gathering of family and friends honored his life at Forest Hills Memorial Park, North Little Rock.
Memorials may be made in Maxson’s honor to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or St. Vincent’s Perinatal Bereavement Program.

James W. Berta
James William Berta, age 46, of Lonoke, died Jan. 24, 2004.
Survivors include a brother, Raymond Berta Sr. of Lonoke.

Brenda Gronwald
Brenda Gronwald, 58, Pine Bluff died Wednesday.
Survivors son, Joe Gronwald, Magnolia; daughter, Tina McDaniel, Pine Bluff; sister, Louise Waggner, Cabot; five grandchildren.
Memorial services were Jan. 31, at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son. Private burial, Lost Creek cemetery, Sheridan.
Glyndora Adams
Glyndora Adams, age 75, of Cabot died Jan. 30, 2004.
She attended McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Robert; three daughters, Cynthia Turner, Doreen Ballard, Pam Brockway, all of Cabot; son, Darol Adams of Lincoln Park, Mich.; four sisters, Gertrude Parker, Elizabeth Lipscomb, Corasue McMillian, Nelda Farnsworth, all of Tennessee; two brothers, Charlie Potts of Tennessee, Ormand Potts of Virginia; seven grandchildren; seven great-grand-children.
Funeral services were Feb. 2, in the chapel of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home, with entombment in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
Jerald E. Talley Jr.
Jerald E. Talley Jr., 24, of Ward died Jan. 29, 2004.
He was a Service Tech at North Point Ford and a driver for Pathfinder in Jacksonville.
Survivors include his wife and companion of nine years, Crystal Talley; daughters, Haley Breanna Talley and Hannah Cheyenne Talley; one brother, Timothy M. Wolfe; two sisters, Geneva C. Hopkins and Rheba L. Morgan.
A celebration of his life was held Feb. 3. Interment was in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Ozell McCall Welch
Ozell McCall Welch, age 67, of Ward, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004.
She was retired as co-owner of Welch’s Grocery and retired from Price Cutter Foods at Cabot. She was a member of Ward First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Julius Welch; two sons, Jerrell Ray Welch of Charlotte, N.C., and Jimmy Leon Welch of Winston Salem, N.C.; one daughter, Paula Ann Koch of North Fort Myers, Fla.; her mother, Pauline McCall of Ward; two brothers, O.B. McCall of Ward and H.L. McCall of Hickory Plains; one sister, Laverne Cato of Germantown, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Feb. 3, 2004, at Ward First Baptist Church with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Beebe.
Mark Steven Bailey
Mark Steven Bailey, the son of William M. (Bill) Bailey and Shirley E. (Ax) Bailey, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the age of 46 years. He was born at Searcy, Arkansas on February 13, 1957.
Mark was the owner of MS Trucking Company of Cabot, Arkansas. A graduate of Cabot High School, where he played football and ran track for the Panthers. As a hobby, he owned and enjoyed training and working with quarter horses and racing dirt cars. With a friendly and outgoing personality, he never met a stranger and had made many friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Tina Elaine Bailey Sparks; grandparents, Hubert and Leola Bailey and Joe and Mamie Ax. He is survived by his children, Drew Bailey and Bobbi Jo Bailey; parents, Bill and Shirley Bailey; loving companion, Judy Cossey; brothers, Joe Allen (Donna) Bailey, Porter (Darlene) Bailey and Wayne (Kim) Bailey; nieces and nephews, Billy Jo, Nick, Heather, Brandi, Nicole and Jeremy; several aunts and uncles and his many friends.

Funeral service was Tuesday at Victory Baptist Church with interment in Mt. Carmel cemetery by Cabot Funeral Home.
H. I. ‘Shorty’ Everetts
Henry Isaac “Shorty” Everetts, age 70, of Ward, Arkansas, died Friday, January, 30, 2004. He was a member of the Apple Hill General Baptist Church. He was retired U.S. Air Force Veteran where he served twenty years. He was a veteran of Vietnam and a retired postal worker for the North Little Rock Post Office.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Parvin Everetts of Ward; two sons, Jeff Everetts of Batesville and Mark Everetts of Cabot; three brothers; three sisters; grandchildren, Dawn Everetts, Chad Everetts, Robert Everetts, Emily Everetts, and Andrew Everetts; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Everetts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Charles and Ruth (Shafer) Everetts and four brothers.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral was 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Apple Hill cemetery, Ward.
George Rahn
George Rahn, 91, of Cabot, AR, died Sunday, February 1, 2004. He was born in Russia and immigrated to the US in 1920.
Mr. Rahn retired from the Panama Canal Company in 1971, after 36 years of government service in Europe, the Middle East, Alaska, Central America, and various U.S military facilities, and he also served in the Army Air Corps in France Field, Canal Zone. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Rahn; his son, Bryon Rahn and his wife, Nancy, of Cabot; his daughter, Denise Whittington and her husband, Wayne, of Blythewood, SC; 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Lena Hogan, of Harrisburg, PA, and a host of family and friends.
A memorial service for the family was held at Cabot United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Cabot United Methodist Church, 203 S. Pine Street, Cabot, AR 72023. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
Mavis R. Douglas
Mavis Robins Douglas, 95, born Christmas Day 1908 and died February 1, 2004 at Sherwood Convalescent Home. She was preceded in death by husband, Clarence and son, Gerald Douglas. Survivors include daughter, Thelma Jean Moore of San Francisco, CA; sister, Doris Thompson of NLR; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cabot since 1941.
Visitation was Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral Service was 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Cabot Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Sumner cemetery. The family requests memorials be sent to First Baptist Church of Cabot. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
Rutha Mae Burton
Rutha Mae Burton, 91, died Jan. 22, 2004. Survivors include daughters, Willie Mae Woods Stuart of Carlisle, and Jessie Lee Woods Williams of St.Louis, 18 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services, were Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, St. Mark Baptist Church. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.
