Roland E. Worden
Roland E. Worden of Jacksonville died Jan. 9, 2004, at the age of 69.
He served as a Crew Chief on a C-130 during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1974 as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Worden; a daughter, Jo Ellen Allen of Jacksonville; a son, Douglas Worden Ward; twin brother, Richard Worden; brothers, Lee Worden, Paul Worden and Wayne Worden, all of upstate New York; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were Jan. 13, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, North Little Rock, with interment at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Raymond C. Dawson
Raymond C. Dawson, age 74, of Lonoke died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004.
He was a deacon of Oakdale Missionary Baptist Church in Lonoke and a retired construction superintendent after 36 years from Matson Construction of Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Sue Coleman Dawson of Lonoke; daughter, Donna Johnson of Searcy; brother, Charles Dawson of Bryant; four sisters, Modean Kee of Hazen, Marcelle Raper, Margie Vail, and Joyce Floyd all of Stuttgart; and two granddaughters.
Funeral services were Jan. 11, at the Center Point Baptist Church. Interment was in Center Point cemetery.
Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen was in charge.
Memorials may be made to the Oakdale Missionary Baptist Church in Lonoke or the Center Point cemetery.
Lester Lee Davis
Lester Lee Davis, Sr., 53, died Jan. 11, 2004.
Survivors; children, Lee and Randy Davis, Tina Batty, Beebe, Tammy Davis ,Ward, two grandsons, eight granddaughters, his mother Tiny Goodman of Cabot, brothers, Gene, Joe, Buddy and Raymond Davis and Jr. Thurmond and one sister, Lois Hicks.
Graveside Service, 2 p.m. Thursday at Butlerville cemetery, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
Morgan Hope Cook
Morgan Hope Cook, infant daughter of Dale and Natalie Cook, born Dec. 17, 2003, died Jan. 9, 2004.
Survivors other than her parents are her twin sister, Madelyn; a sister, Allison; grandparents, Trieber and Brenda Jones and Frank and Glenda Cook; great-grandparents, Elsie Phillips and Glen and Elsie Lee.
Graveside services were Jan. 12 at Sumner cemetery, by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Lyda Combs Little
Lyda Combs Little died Jan. 9, 2004.
She is survived by seven sons, Cornelius Seals and Orgus Seals of Mallie, Ky., Arley Little and Bobby Little of North Little Rock, Jerry Little, Cabot, Larry Little, Little Rock, Teddy Little, McCrory; four daughters, Rignita Jones and Lou Dallas, McCrory, Clarita Sturdivant, Mammie, Ky., and Florine Couch, Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Verda Smith; 33 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Sunday, Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home, McCrory. Interment, Woodman cemetery, McCrory.
Laura Lassett
Laura Lassett, 52, of Lonoke died Jan. 10, 2004.
She worked at the Boston Mountain Educational Corp. as a psychology examiner. She was a member of the Lonoke UMC.
Survivors are her husband, Bill Lassett of Lonoke; a son, Josh Lasett of Lonoke; sisters, Micki Paddock of Middlebury, Vermont and Iris Colton of Montgomery, Ala.; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service was held Jan. 13 at Ferguson Memorial Chapel at UCA in Conway.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society, Family Crisis Intervention Group, Hospice or “The Human Fund.”
Dorothy Sprague
Dorothy “Dottie” Sprague, 71, of Cabot died Jan. 6, 2004.
She was a non-denominational minister.
Survivors are daughters, Ida McLean and Geneva Renee Sprague of Cabot; a sister, Mary Wofford of Fort Smith; brothers, Ben Loudermilk of Washburn, Mo. and Charles Loudermilk of Michigan; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Friday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with interment in Hartford Memorial Park in Hartford.
Elma Howard
Elma Howard, 85, died Jan. 11. 2004.
Survivors include her children, Janice Clark, Dorothy Rhodes, Oakland, Calif., Hedyl Wesley, Tucker, Erma David, North Little Rock, Henry Howard, England, Willie Baker, Lorenzo and Scid Howard Jr., Oakland, Calif.; brothers, Vanvall and Lincoln; sisters, Wilma, Eloise and Melene; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
Family hour 6-7 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Mortuary. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Baptist Church, Lonoke by Rev. Scipio Brown, under the direction of Robinson Mortuary, 1527 East Broad, North Little Rock.
Bernard Ray
Bernard Ray, 96, of Cabot went home to be with the Lord Thursday, January 1, 2004. He was born February 18, 1907 in Ethel MS. Bernard moved from Ethel to Wheatley, AR, in 1930 to pursue a career in banking. In Wheatley he met and married
Pauline McCarty, a school teacher, and they owned and operated a meat market until 1942. In 1943 Bernard moved his family to Cabot. He worked 13 years at Redmond Motor Company in Jacksonville.
Bernard and son Franklin founded Bernard Ray Insurance in 1966. He worked as a tax consultant and real estate broker and was a Shriner, a 32 Degree Mason, and member of Cabot Lodge No. 319. For years he was active in the Cabot Chamber of Commerce and was a member and past-president of Cabot Lions Club. Mr. Ray was Sunday School Secretary for First Baptist Church of Cabot for many years and was currently a faithful member of Briarwood Baptist Church. Friends remember him for his beautiful tenor voice, gardening skills, and most importantly, his sense of fairness and commitment to the Lord.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Pauline; son Franklin B. Ray and the late Gail Ray of Horn Lake, MS; daughter, Paula Sherrill and husband Gene of Wildwood, MO; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Service was held Monday, Jan. 5 at Briarwood Baptist Church with burial in Mt. Carmel cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
Patricia A. Higgs
Patricia A. Higgs, age 69, passed away from this life on January 1, 2004. She was a retired beautician that had worked at Riley’s Oak Hill Manor in North Little Rock and served as an instructor at Arthur’s Beauty School in North Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Geraldine Deaton of Clarendon; brothers, Bobby and Robert Deaton, both of Clarendon; Jimmy Stephens of Holly Grove; and sister Era Simpson of Clarendon.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, currently residing in Lonoke; sons and daughters-in-law: Dewey and Melba of Austin; Robert and Beth of Fayetteville; Kirby and Karen of Mayflower; and Mark and Cheryl of Cabot; sister, Joyce (J.W.) Booker of Clarendon; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 4 from 2-5 p.m. at Cabot Funeral Home. Graveside Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5 at AR State Veteran’s cemetery, NLR. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
