Lillie Faye High

Lillie Faye High, age 82, of Cabot, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003.
She was a psychiatric technician for over 30 years. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by her children - Robert Rector, Jacque Bartlett, Geri High, all of Cabot, Wallie Moore of California, Dolores Williams of Illinois, Robert High of Mayflower and Melba West of Conway; one sister, Bertie Gordon of North Little Rock; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Saturday, Sept. 13, at Mt. Carmel cemetery, Cabot, by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

Ralph B. Jones

Ralph B. Jones, age 78, of Little Rock died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003.

He was a retired civil engineer, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, AHTD Retirees Association and the Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Lee Tschiemer Jones; two sons, R. Christian Jones of Fairfax, Va., and Mark D. Jones of Little Rock; two granddaughters; three brothers, Alfred B. Jones of Sun City, Ariz., William T. Jones Jr. of Cabot and Walter G. Jones of Springdale; a sister, Alice Blagg of Little Rock.

Family committal service was Sept. 11 at Forest Hills Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at St. Paul United Methodist Church with arrangements by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to The Ralph B. Jones Memorial Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund, University of Arkansas College of Engineering, c/o Kellie Knight, 4183 Bell Engineering Center, Fayetteville, Ark., 72701, or to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock, Ark., 72207.

Ruth R. B. Doyle

Ruth R. Browning Doyle, 89, of Conway, died Monday Sept. 8, 2003.
Survivors are her son, Dr. W. David Doyle of Conway; two daughters, Ruth Anne Fulmer of Conway and Mary Louise Nisbett of Lonoke; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 10, at the First United Methodist Church with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Park.

The family requests that donations be made to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, Kan.
Arrangements by Roller Mc-Nutt, Conway.

Harvey Smith

Harvey Smith, 78, of Beebe, died Sept. 9, 2003.
He was of the Baptist faith, a building contractor, poultry raiser, truck driver and farmer. He helped start First State Bank and served on its Board of Directors. He was also a constable and a member of the American Agriculture Movement. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, having served on the USS Maury DD401.
He is survived by his daughter, Renee Holder of Beebe; a brother, George Smith of Tupelo, Miss.; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday, Sept. 12, at Westbrook Chapel with burial in 16th Section cemetery, Austin.

Roscoe White

Roscoe White, 81, of Cabot, formerly of Independence, Ky., died Sept. 9, 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Clois; daughter, Kay Veach of Little Rock; son, Steve White of Greenville, S.C.; and two granddaughters.
Funeral service was Sept. 12 at Cabot Funeral Home Chapel.

Avene Smith

Avene Smith, age 91, of DeWitt died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003.
She taught in the rural schools of Arkansas County, was a member of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Cora Mae Coffelt of Carlisle.
Graveside services were Friday at Almyra cemetery by Essex Funeral Home.

Walter L. Baker

Walter L. Baker, 72, of Jacksonville died Sept. 11, 2003.

He retired after 21 1/2 years in the United States Air Force, was a Veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. After his military career he became vice president of Operations of The Prefab Transit Company.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dayle C. Baker; five sons, Gary W. Baker of Jacksonville, Charles R. Baker of Austin, Mark K. Baker of New York, Patrick H. Baker of Jacksonville, Bryan A. Baker of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 15, in the chapel of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home, with burial in Baker cemetery in Hardy.

June Virginia Jordan

June Virginia Jordan, 48, of Sherwood, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003.
She is survived by one son, Danny B. Huey Jr. of North Little Rock; two daughters, Tamra M. Cotton of Jacksonville and Briget J. Holloway of Cabot; father, Freeman Teeters of Ohio; mother, Lola May (Howington) Teeters of Michigan; two brothers, Jim Teeters of Ohio, Jonathan Teeters of Michigan; two sisters, Ramona Rankey of Michigan and Lola Teeters of Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 17, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, with interment at Roselawn Memorial Park, Little Rock.

Joseph C. Nahlen

Joseph C. Nahlen, 84, of Little Rock, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003.
A veteran of WWII, he was stationed in Alaska during his tour of duty. He worked for many years as a driver delivering ice cream for Swift & Company, and later worked for Andy’s Dairy Freeze for over 20 years. He was a member of Our Lady of The Holy Souls Catholic Church, he was an usher for many years.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Berkemeyer of Austin; four brothers, Andrew Nahlen, Tony Nahlen, Clarence Nahlen, and T.J. Nahlen, all of Conway; four sisters, Sr. Josita Nahlen of Fort Smith, Gertrude Siebenmorgan, Anna Gunderman, and Theresa Nahlen, all of Conway; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Sept. 16, at Our Lady of The Holy Souls, with burial in Calvary cemetery. A Rosary was held Sept. 15, at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Chapel, Little Rock.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of The Holy Souls, or to Multiple Sclerosis National Society, Arkansas Division, 1100 N. University, Little Rock, Ark., 72207.

Ben I. Becker

Ben I. Becker, 89, of Helena, died Saturday in Cabot.
He was a retired insurance agent, member of American Legion.
He is survived by a son, Ken Becker of Cabot; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons.

Graveside services were Monday, Maple Hill cemetery, directed by Roller-Citizens.

Roy K. Jeffery

Roy K. Jeffery, 47, of Cabot died Sept. 10, 2003.
Graveside service was Sept. 13 at Trinity cemetery. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home was in charge.

He was a graduate of West Point and retired in 1999 as a major from the U.S. Army. He was a Mason.

Survivors are hismother, Patsy Jeffery of Bono; sisters, Oneta Wilson and Karen Jeffery, both of Bono.

Memorials may be made to the M.A.D.D. or St. Bernard’s Hospital.
