John Peter Simone
John Peter Simone of North Little Rock died June 19, 2003, at the age of 70.
He was a staff sergeant for 23 years with the Air National Guard. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors are his wife of 16 years, Evelyn Simone; stepson Jason Cates of Cabot; son, Larry Simone, and daughter, Tina Simone, of North Little Rock; two daughters, Mary McGriff of Star City and Veronica Simone of Little Rock; and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 21, at Immaculate Conception Church, North Little Rock, with interment at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Hilda Bailey
Hilda Bailey, 79, died June 18, 2003.
She was a lifelong resident of Keo.
Survivors: three sons, James Bailey, Mabelvale, Larry Bailey, Cabot, and Michael Bailey, Keo; five daughters, Mary Harris and Ruby Maggard, Furlow, Linda Morrison, Fort Smith, Darlene Burrow, Benton, and Joann Shaddon, North Little Rock; three sisters, Reva Glover and Audrey Steveson, Conway, and Joyce Phillips, Carlisle; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Roy Lee Garland
Roy Lee Garland, age 72, of Cabot died Tuesday, June 17, 2003.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in both the Navy and Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Beazley Garland; his mother, Nellie Garland of Austin; three sons, Richard Garland of Cabot, Marvin Garland of Vilonia and Gregory Garland of Cabot; one daughter, Cheryl Flor of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Donald Garland of Tupelo, Jimmy Tommy Garland and Charles Garland, both of Austin, and Larry Garland of Scranton; one sister, Bobbye Jean Theiring of Cabot.
Funeral was Friday, June 20, at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Beebe cemetery.
Mildred V. Welch
Mildred Virginia Cates Welch, age 81, died June 16, 2003.
She is survived by her son, Hal Welch of Carlisle; a sister, Jean Boyette of Oklahoma.
Graveside services were held at Carlisle cemetery with arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
Ruby Frances Holt
Ruby Frances Holt, 58, of Sheridan, died Sunday.
She taught school in Sheridan for 20 years. From 1986 until 1990 she owned and operated Keep and Teach Day Care in Sheridan.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; three sons, Scott Holt of Newport, Va., Shea Holt of Little Rock, Shawn Holt of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, Gary Goode of Wright, and Harry Goode of Sheridan; six sisters, Georgia King of Sheridan, Ann Davis of Carlisle, Nancy Buckingham of Bryant, Joy Leatherwood and Kay Whitehead of Hot Springs, Teddy Carr of Searcy.
Services were June 21, at Buie Funeral Chapel, Sheridan.

W.J. McCarley
W.J. “Dick” McCarley, 76, died June 18, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Ada; son, Dickie McCarley of Cabot; daughter, Leanne Prichard of Heber Springs.

Jack Lowman Bodie
Jack Lowman Bodie, 79, of Little Rock, died Friday, June 20, 2003.
He was a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force and participated in a pilot exchange program with Great Britain’s Royal Air Force. He served as Squadron Commander in the RAF, and was chosen to fly in the London coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. He retired from the USAF as a Lt. Colonel. Since returning to Arkansas in 1963, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member at First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. In addition, he was Chairman of the Southeast Arkansas Blood Drive, served on the board of Southeast Arkansas Arts and Science Center, had leading roles in community theater productions, founded the Pine Bluff Chapter of Christian Business Men’s Council, was a Youth Home board member, and President of the Diamond State Chapter of the Society of Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America. He retired after 30 years as a broker with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Bodie Allison of Cabot, Jan Bodie Danner of Little Rock, Bill Bodie of Little Rock, and Beth Yocom of Hope; a brother, Morgan William Bodie of Garland, Texas; and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held June 23, at Grace Presbyterian Church.
Full military burial was held at the Arkansas State Veterans cemetery North Little Rock.

Marcia J. Cunningham
Marcia Jean Love Cunningham, 56, of Little Rock, died June 21, 2003.
She was born in Carlisle and was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Leslie Cunningham of Little Rock; her son, Evan Cunningham of Mayflower; four grandchildren; one brother, Ray Love of Little Rock.
Funeral was June 23 at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen.
Raymond E. Myers
Raymond Eugene Myers, 21, of Jacksonville died June 15, 2003.
He is survived by his mother, Theresa Bonner of Kissimmee, Fla.; father, James Patrick Myers of Florence, Ariz.; brother, J.P. Myers of Jacksonville; grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Bonner of Northport, Fla.; grandmother, Mary Beth Myers of Jacksonville.
Funeral services were Monday at Huson Funeral Home Chapel, Sherwood, with interment in Flynn cemetery in Humnoke.
Edward L. Heatherly
Edward Lynn Heatherly, 64, of Orange, Calif., formerly of Newport, died June 18, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley; his mother, Gail McLaughlin Heatherly of Tuckerman; brother, William King Heatherly of Cabot; sister, Marcia Sivils of San Ramon, Calif.
