Marie Carter Echols
Marie Carter Echols, 91, of Monticello died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003. She was a sales clerk and a member of Wood Avenue Presbyterian Church in Monticello.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Echols of Conway and Ron Echols of Monticello; two daughters, Ann Dew of Jackson, Miss., and Jan McLemore of Warren; one brother, Jerry Carter of Little Rock;; two sisters, Lola McDaniel of Cabot and Dean Cargill of Little Rock; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Wednesday at Setphenson-Dearmon Chapel. Burial in Oakland cemetery in Monticello.
Ethel Agan
Ethel Agan, 75, of North Little Rock, died Feb. 17, 2002. She attended Community Chapel in North Little Rock.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Muth of Morena Valley, Calif., W. H. “Butch” Agan of Starke, Fla.; three sisters, Beatrice Taylor and Faye Ricker, both of North Little Rock, Georgia Hunthrop of Cabot; five grandschildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Rest Hils Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Phillip J. Sheridan, Jr.
Phillip J. Sheridan, Jr., 52, of Cabot, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne Sheridan of the home; his mother; four sons, Phillip Karl Sheridan of Berlin, Germany, Mark David Sheridan of Berlin, Germany, Dennis Bayles, Jr. and Scott Timothy Bayles, both of Ward; one daughter, Kristy Adcock of Cabot; three sisters, Lynda Sapp, Pat Vescio and Judy Watson; one brother, Mike Sheridan; seven grandchildren.
Funeral was Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Cabot Funeral Chapel.
John Elliott
John Elliott, 81, Dover, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003.
Survivors are children, Jaquiline Sleeth, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, David Elliott, Nelson, British Columbia, Canada; three grandchildren; step-children, Dianne Rose and Karen Castleberry, Dover, Dale Powers, Cabot and Donald Powers, Conway.
A private memorial was held. Arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle.
Dean L. Morrow
Dean L. Morrow, 66, of Ward, died Feb. 20, 2003. He was retired from the United States Air Force and a retired school bus driver for the Cabot School District.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Emma Morrow; daughters, Wendy Michelle Morrow and Sonja Marie Morrow, both of Ward; a son, Michael Sean Morrow of Cabot; a brother, Duane Morrow of Moore, Okla.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 N. University, Little Rock, Ark. 72203.
Services were Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at the Jacksonville Baptist Temple. Interment was in Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Steve Hooks
Steve “Bill” Hooks, 76, of Conway, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003.
He was a retired truck driver, an Army veteran, a member of VFW, the Masonic Lodge, and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Steve Hooks of Cabot; two daughters, Robyn McCann and Kay Waters, both of Cabot; one sister, Virginia Brown of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral was Saturday at Oak Bowery Baptist Church with burial at Oak Bowery cemetery.
Ruth L. Poindexter
Ruth Lavby Poindexter, 69, of Lonoke, died Feb. 19, 2003. She is survived by Jimmy Poindexter of Carlisle, and Bonnie Schumaker of Waveland, Ark.
Funeral service was Monday, Feb. 24, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Pinecrest Memorial Park cemetery.
Torri L. Wright
Torri L. Wright, age 76, of Benton died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2002. He was an operator at Alcoa, member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, president of the Arkansas State Fox Hunter’s Association, president of the Saline County Fox Hunter’s Association, charter member of Wright’s Deer Camp and served in the U. S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jo Coburn Wright of Benton; two sons, Danny of Lonoke, Curtis of Hot Springs; three sisters, Gladys Nalley, Martha Eta McNeil and Christine Elrod, all of Benton, four grandchildren.
Funeral was Monday at Sharon Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Sharon cemetery.
Robert Shelton Ware
The world’s loss was Heaven’s gain on February 24, 2003 when Robert Shelton Ware went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dardyn Shelton Ware; his mother, Kathryn Ware; and his brother, Brian Leslie Ware.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Smith Ware of the home; one daughter Typhne Ware Spencer & her husband, Craig; one son, Kristopher Ware; grandchildren, Katelyn and Chase Spencer; two sisters, Dr. Barbara A. Ware of Dallas, Texas and Karen Tillman and her husband Barry and their four children, of Richardson, Texas.
He was a graduate of North Texas University, a Master Mason, and Regional Sales Manager with DSI, a division of American Media.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers; please make donations to the American Heart Association in his name.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 27 at Cabot Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Internment will follow at Mt. Springs cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
E. Inez M. Givens
Earle Inez Montgomery Givens, 81, went to be with her Lord February 19, 2003. She was a resident of Carlisle, Arkansas and formerly of Sulpher, Louisiana. She was a retired schoolteacher, a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Sulphur, Louisiana and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Carlisle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Stanley Givens and a brother, James Estus Montgomery.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Kenneth) Bacque of Westlake, Louisiana and Georgette (Charlie) Hall of Carlisle, Arkansas; three brothers, Emery Montgomery of Bronson, Texas, Elmer Montgomery of Boyd, Texas and Andy Montgomery of Provencal, Louisiana, one sister, Evon Graves of Sulphur, Louisiana, a sister-in-law, Winnie Givens Murray of Shreveport, Louisiana and five grandchildren, Chantel Harrington, Christian & Kenny Bacque, Michael Thurber and T.J. Hall.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 22 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Burial followed in Old Bellwood cemetery, Bellwood, Louisiana.

Alice Rawe
Alice Rawe, 93, of El Paso, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2003 at her home.
She was born May 3, 1909, the daughter of Charlie and Ethel Dennis Evans. She is preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Joe Rawe.
She is survived by three sons, John Rawe of El Paso, AR, Charles A. Rawe of El Paso, AR and Same Rawe of Cabot, AR; four daughters, Ethel Loyer of Virginia Beach, VA, Nellie Cleveland of Sherwood, AR, Alice McKenzie of Arizona City, AZ and Mable Alexander of BelAir Beach, FL; two sisters, Katherine Dixon of Greenwood, AR and Myrtle Harris of Michigan; one brother, Arthur Evans of Jacksonville, AR.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and several great, grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Wednesday, February 19 at the Cabot Funeral Chapel.
