Ethel Jackson Anderson Garner, age 92, a resident of Russellville, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born
on January 10, 1910 in Pope County to Fred and Josie (Gilbreath) Jackson. Mrs. Garner lived in Paris, Arkansas and California prior to returning to Russellville in 1985. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Olan R. Garner; a son, Col. Earl Anderson; a grandson, Mickey Butler; five brothers, Leonard, Joe, Carl, Paul and Jack Jackson; and a sister Annie Linton. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star in Porterville, California and a member of Assembly of God Church. Ethel is survived by a daughter, Dorothea "Dot" Roberts, Tulsa, OK; a daughter-in-law, Joy Anderson, Russellville, AR; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ray Jackson Dover, AR; Harold Jackson, Russellville, AR; and 3 Sisters, Floy Young, San Antonio, TX; Ruth Hottinger, Russellville, AR; Ruby Henderson, Russellville, AR.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, July 13, 2002 at the Resthaven Memorial Park officiated by Mr. Ray Jackson. Burial will be under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Spc. Shanon David Higgins, age 28, a resident of Fort Campbell, KY, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at Fort Campbell in Fort Campbell, KY. He was born
on January 22, 1972 in Atlanta, GA, to David and Barbara Higgins. Shanon died while serving on active duty at Fort Campbell Kentucky.
A graveside committal and re-interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at the National Cemetery
in Fayetteville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Full military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Bella Vista.
A. A. "Jack" Humphrey, age 79, a resident of Russellville, AR, died Friday, June 28, 2002 at his home in Russellville, AR. He was born
on September 29, 1922 in Russellville, Arkansas, to Argie Sr. and Margaret Bernice (Llewellyn) Humphrey. Jack married
Myrtle Ann Hardgrave on December 19, 1973 at Russellville, Arkansas. Mr. Humphrey was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He was a salesman with Cash Lumber Company (now known as National Home Center) of Russellville, a United States U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Humphrey is survived by his Wife, Myrtle Humphrey, Russellville, Arkansas; a Daughter, Patricia Thompson, Michigan; five Sons, Maurice Foster, Anchorage, Alaska; Michael (& Becky) Foster, Lanoir, North Carolina; Mark (& Loli) Foster, Virginia Beach, Virginia; Marvin (& Kim) Foster, Russellville, Arkansas; Melvin (& Karen) Foster, Saginaw, Texas; three Brothers, Robert (& Sylvia) Humphrey, Birmingham, Alabama; George (& Bianca) Humphrey, Clearwater, Florida; Barton Humphrey, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts; three Sisters, Rosalie Powell, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts; Joyce Humphrey, Maine; Bernice (& Larry) Kirby, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts; twelve Grandchildren; and two Great Grandchildren.

Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville, AR under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 3-5 P.M. Sunday. Minnie Johnston, age 89, a resident of Russellville, Arkansas; died Sunday, July 21, 2002 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. She was born
on May 26, 1913 in Russellville, Arkansas, to Jim and Martha (Stout) Tippit. Mrs. Johnston was a Homemaker and a member of the Four Square Gospel Church. She was the widow of Roy B. Johnston and was also preceded in death by two sons, Raymond Johnston and Bill Johnston. Minnie is survived by a Son Herman & Bonnie Johnston, Russellville, Arkansas; a Daughter, Betty & Dick Schwartz, Russellville, Arkansas; a Daughter-in-law, Kitty Johnston, Dardanelle, Arkansas; three Grandchildren, Steve Johnston, Dardanelle, Arkansas; Gary Johnston, Brandon, Florida; Stacey Lane, Honlulu, Hawaii; five Great-Grandchildren; and a Sister, Verna Olive, Dardanelle, Arkansas.

Etta Mae Keith, age 75, a resident of Shaw, Mississippi, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, while visiting her son. She was born
on June 8, 1927 in Mississippi to Joseph and Mary B. Pate and was retired employee with Ludlow Textiles in Indianola, Mississippi. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Indianola, Mississippi. Etta is survived by two sons, David Earl Keith, Indianola, Mississippi; and Thomas M. (& Janet L.) Keith, Russellville, Arkansas; one daughter, Mary Ann Kirksey, Shaw, Mississippi; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jessie Dechane; Chicago, Illinois.

R. D. "Dave" McCaslin, age 67, a resident of Russellville, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at his home. He was born
on March 27, 1935 in Scotland, Arkansas, to Robert and Cordelia Gross McCaslin. He retired from Firestone after working for over 20 years. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in Alaska. Dave served in the Arkansas Army National Guard, Dardanelle Unit for 22 years, retiring in 1995. He loved hunting and fishing and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Mr. McCaslin is survived by his wife Janet Fields McCaslin, Russellville, AR; 2 sons & a daughter- in-law, Jimmy Allen McCaslin, Russellville, AR; Don Gordon & Jamie McCaslin, Russellville, AR; a daughter, Brenda Kay McCaslin, North Little Rock, AR; 1 grandson, Phillip McCaslin, Russellville, AR; and a sister & brother-in-law, Sue and Ellis Gilmore, Plumerville, AR.

Charles Ray "Charley" Rankin, Jr., age 54, a resident of Russellville, AR, formerly of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Friday, July 5, 2002 at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. He was born
on December 25, 1947 in Fayetteville, AR, to Charles Ray Sr. and Dorotha Lorene (Karnes) Rankin. He married
Sharon L. Simpson on March 27, 1982 at North Little Rock, AR. He was an Associate Engineer with Arkansas Nuclear One. He was preceded in death by his parents & grandparents. He attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, and Capitol Junior College, in Little Rock. He was a three time President of Arkansas Baptist Conference of the Deaf; a founder of the National Deaf Street Rodders Association; Founder, Member, Past President, and Reporter of River Valley Association of the Deaf; a member, Sunday School Teacher for the Deaf Ministry, and Deaf Ministry Leader at Grace Baptist Church in Russellville. He served two mission trips to Honduras teaching Hondurans to interpret sign language, how to sign stories, and built a church which includes a beautiful cross he made by hand from left over lumber. He also instructed sign language classes at A.T.U.. He was a member of the River Valley Rodders and the Valley Antique Automobile Club. He loved fishing and hunting. Charley is survived by his wife, Sharon Rankin, Russellville, Arkansas; three sons, Charles Ray (& Beth) Rankin, III, Arlington, Texas; Brett Edward (& Lisa) Rankin, Coleville, California; Olin Jason Rankin, Russellville, Arkansas; one daughter, Victoria Ann (& William) Rankin-Hilleman, Rockwall, Texas; one brother, Steven Harold Rankin, Little Rock, Arkansas; as well as seven grandchildren.

Ellen Mariah Bowden Roberts, age 82, of Crow Mountain, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2002, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. She was a lifetime resident of Crow Mountain. She was
born March 12, 1920, on Crow Mountain, to the late Oscar and Mae (Jordan) Bowden. She was retired from International Shoe Company and was a housewife. A 50 year member of the Mars Hill Cumberland
Presbyterian Church and the CPW where she served as class teacher and officer. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #2283. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Jones and Myrtle Bowden. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Doyle Roberts. They were married
on September 4, 1937. Also surviving are two sons & one daughter-in-law, Alvin Nelson Roberts of Crow Mountain, Richard & Ruby Roberts of Dover, AR; two daughters and one son-in-law, Martha & William Jones and Jo Alvey all of Crow Mountain, Arkansas; four grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law, Rusty Jones, Michael & Shawn Alvey, James & Sally Alvey all of Crow Mountain and Steve Alvey of Russellville, Arkansas; three granddaughter & grandsons-in-;aw, Pamela Alvey Puckett & C.H., Mary Jones Bolen & Stephen, Marsha Jones Oels & Keith, all of Crow Mountain. Six great-grandsons, Jacob Oels, J.D. Oels, Kaleb Oels, Reed Alvey, Josh Alvey all of Crow Mountain and Jesse Alvey of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

on April 18, 1918 in Russellville, AR, to James and Elizabeth (Simpson) Sparks. He married
Pearl Harris on July 9, 1939, at Russellville, Arkansas. Mr. Sparks was a retired Truck Driver with the Pope County Road Department and was a member of the Harmony Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Ann Sparks; eight brothers, Elmer, Elbert, Ellis, Emmitt, Leslie, Ira, Jimmy and Vernon Sparks; four sisters, Laudra McAnulty, Beulah Sparks, Roma Jackson & Jewel Craig.
