Jeanne Bingham
Jeanne Bingham, 81, of Pottsville, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
She was born
March 15, 1926, at East Providence, R.I., to James Elyhue and Ethelyn Amelia Betz Orr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Orr; a sister, Roberta Ellis; a son, Bruce D’Amico; a grandson, Billy Bishop; three granddaughters, Margie Slate, Brandy D’Amico, and Kim Radford.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Courtney D’Amico of Snellville, Ga., and Kim D’Amico of Ola; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jody and Bill Brown of Pottsville and Robin and Teddy Slate of Hackett; a daughter-in-law, Darlene D’Amico of Alma; a brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Kathy Orr of Westerly, R.I.; a sister-in-law, Inez Orr of Westerly, R.I.; a sister, Peggy Mason of North Stonington, Connecticut; 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the South New Hope Assembly of God with the Rev. C.R. Young officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery
near Pottsville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Kim D’Amico, Jody Brown, Robin Slate, Charles Pitts, Bill Brown, Teddy Slate, Shane D’Amico, and Paul Colston. Honorary pallbearers will be John D’Amico, Dr. Kelly Meyer, James D’Amico, Justin D’Amico, Devin D’Amico, Ronnie Robinson, Brent Yates, Bobby Shull, Logan Tedford and Bob Brown.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the Area Agency on Aging; Ms. Bingham’s caregiver, Viola Chronister; Dardanelle Hospital and Dardanelle Family Clinic.
Sheila Brimer
Sheila Kay Brimer, 54, of Conway died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at home.
Born April 18, 1953, in McPherson, Kan., she was a graduate of Russellville High School and Arkansas State University in Beebe. She served in the Marine Corps for three years, the Army Reserve for 12 years, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Brimer.
She is survived by her mother, Beatrice Brimer; a sister, Sharon G. Brimer, both of Russellville; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Arkansas State Veterans’ Cemetery
in North Little Rock.
Arrangements are by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
Esther Carter
Mary Lou Esther Carter died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Mitchell’s Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born
Oct. 27, 1908, in Yell County to David and Rosa Dean Gray. She was a homemaker and member of Gum Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edd Carter; her parents; sister, Elsie Gray Carter; and two brothers, Frank and Everett Gray.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Rosalie and John Wear of Oppelo; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Mamie, Lanny and Alicia, and Lelon and Joylyn Carter, all of Dardanelle; brother and sister-in-law, George Earl and Rebecca Gray of Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thurman and Sue Carter of Atkins; grandsons and spouses, Brad and Sondra Wear, Todd and Sharon Carter, Scott and Ashley Carter, Chad and Angie Carter, Brandon and Lisa Carter, and McKenzie Carter; granddaughters and spouses, Johnna and Bobby Duncan, Jennifer and Tim Golman, and Lana and Jeff O’Dell; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Chris George officiating. Interment
will be in Shepherd Cemetery
with arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight.
Pallbearers will be her six grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her three granddaughters.
Gladys Keener
Gladys M. Keener, 74, of Atkins died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at the Atkins Nursing Center.
She was born
December 6, 1932, in Pope County, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Dick and Irma Gibson Holloway. She is survived by four sons and a daughter-in-law, Rick and Patty Shrives of Pottsville; Brian Shrives of Grants Pass, Ore.; Randy Shrives of Russellville; Gary Shrives of Coalinga, Calif.; one sister, Dorris Vieira of Atkins; 4 grandchildren, Heather Dornan of Russellville; Odis Shrives of Russellville; Ashley Shrives of Grants Pass and Brett Shrives of Grants Pass.
Funeral Service and burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Bells Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6:30-8 tonight.
Gertrude Pitts
Gertrude E. Pitts of Lamar died June 21, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville. Arrangements will be announced later by Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Carolyn Jo Shamblin
Carolyn Jo Shamblin, 54, of Hackberry, La. died June 19, 2007 in a Sulphur, La. hospital. She was born
Jan. 21, 1953 in Tulsa, Okla. She was a native of Ola and a resident of Hackberry.
She is survived by her companion of 17 years Roger Standridge of Hackberry, La.; son, Thomas Raymond Shamblin of Clarksville; two daughters, Betty Hawks of Hackberry, La., and Christina Sue Mahan and husband Richard of Ola; father, Floyd Raymond Aultman of Centerville; three brothers, David Ray Aultman of Easthampton, Mass., James “Tinker” Thomas Aultman of Southampton, Mass., Robert “Bobby” Aultman of Lawton, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel in Sulphur, La.
Ernest Duvall
Ernest W. Duvall, 84, of Longview, Texas departed this life for his Heavenly home on Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Longview.
He was born
Jan. 15, 1923, at Atkins to Homer and Mary Ray Duvall. He served honorably during World War II and following his discharge from the service he was self employed at several jobs prior to being employed by Brown and Root before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Jay Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vern and Henry Duvall; and two sisters, Launa Wilkerson and Sue English.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Usrey Duvall of Longview, Texas; a brother, Sam Duvall of Russellville; a sister, Betty Pate of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007, at Rest Haven Memorial Park with Pastor Don Rose officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
The family will receive friends from 8:30-10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Larry Freeman
Funeral services for Larry Freeman, 67, Fairmont, Minn., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Interment
will take place at Nashville Cemetery, rural Truman, Minn. Larry died Thursday, May 3, 2007, in Kansas City, Mo., as a result of an automobile accident.
Visitation will be held 3-7 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007, at Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman and one hour before the services in the church.
Larry Lee Freeman was born
on Sept. 9, 1939, in St. James, Minn., to Allen and Juanita (Boren) Freeman. He attended school in St. James through the 10th grade and then graduated from Truman High School. Larry farmed with his father in rural Truman. On Oct. 26, 1957, Larry was married
to Irene Miller. They had four children. On Feb. 14, 1980, Larry was united in marriage to Marlys Johnson Prafke. Larry worked various jobs in the Truman area. He retired from North Central Public Service (Ferrell Gas). Larry was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and the Truman, St. James and Fairmont Gun Clubs. He was one of Minnesota’s top rated shooters and has won many trophies and awards for trapshooting. His interests included trapshooting, ATVing in the mountains, hunting and fishing and helping family with projects. Larry loved spending time with his family, friends and his dogs. Larry and Marlys spent their winters in Arkansas with family and friends. Larry will always be an inspiration to his family and friends and will be remembered as an honest, hardworking mentor and a man true to his word.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marlys of Fairmont; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barb Freeman-Caven and husband, Perry, of Ceylon, Minn., and Lori Barchenger and husband, Bruce, of Fairmont; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and his wife, Janice, of Jackson, and Dan and his wife, Mary, of Fairmont; one stepdaughter, Lori Hartwig of Truman; three stepsons, Scott Prafke and wife. Kari. of Elk Mound, Wisc., Brad Prafke and wife, Holly, stationed at Okinawa, Japan, and Kevin Prafke and wife, Kristi, of Welcome, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Ferguson and husband, Charles, Gail Roesler and husband, Jerome, and one brother, David Freeman and wife, Toni, all of Arkansas.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Amber Barchenger.
Charity Wilkins
CLARKSVILLE - Charity Wilkins, 57, of Clarksville died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at her home.
Born Feb. 2, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Aberlee Anderson. She had been a hair stylist in Clarksville for the past 30 years.
Survivors include two stepdaughters and a host of friends.
The body was cremated. Cremation arrangements are by Hardwicke Funeral Home.
