Irene Smith
Irene C. Smith, 92, died icon Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Kindred Hospital in Arlington, Texas.
She was born icon Aug. 24, 1914, in Long Island City, N.Y. She was a longstanding member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church. She worked in advertising in New York City, for the U.S. Civil Service in Korea, and the U. S. Forest Service in Russellville. She was a former active member of the Arkansas League of Women Voters, the Pope County Extension Homemakers, and the London Family Community Education Club. She initiated and directed a Pope County paper recycling project throughout the 1970s.
She was the widow of Lt. Col. Thomas A. Smith.
She is survived by daughters, Catherine Pretty of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Shirley Gurpinar of Arlington, Texas; a son, Whitley A. Smith of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; sisters, Dorothea McGandy of Somerset, N.J. and Ruth Ryzner of N. Dartmouth, Mass.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She moved to the Russellville area in 1955 with her husband, Tom, and their three children. They involved themselves in community and local affairs, and raised Angus cattle at their ranch in London for many years.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Humphrey Chapel by the Rev. Evelyn Hornaday. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Veterans Administration National Cemetery icon at Fort Smith.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at All Saints’ Episcopal Church.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Humphrey Funeral Service.

Rick Williams
Richard “Rick” Williams, age 52, of Morrilton, died icon Friday, March 2, 2007 at Saint Anthony’s Healthcare Center.
He was born icon Feb. 9, 1955 in Kansas City, Mo., and was a construction worker. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Wesley Williams.
Survivors include his wife, May Williams; eight sons, Shawn, Patrick and Jason Williams, all of Pennsylvania, Ritchie, Michael, Christopher and Justin Watkins, all of Atkins, and Trent Williams of Morrilton; his mother, Nadine Williams of Russellville; two sisters, Raymella and Greg Petty of Benton, and Ramona Williams and Lynn Ferguson of Russellville; two nieces, Karissa and Krista Petty of Benton; and several grandchildren, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service and burial will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville, officiated by Rev. Ray Boyd. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Judy Murphy, Pope County Memorial Chairman, 126 Lakeview Circle, Russellville, AR 72802.

Bill N. Coble Sr.
Bill N. Coble Sr., 71, of Jonesboro died icon Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at his residence.
He was the owner and operator of Bilco Tile Company and the Brookland Bearcat Drive Inn. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church and the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge. He loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Coble of the home; a son and his wife, Bill Jr. and Debbie Coble of Russellville; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and David Head of Brookland; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Adams Coble Parish of Jackson, Tenn.; a sister and her husband, Rita and Jay Foster of Bethany, Okla.; six grandchildren, Kimberly Head Paslay and her husband, Chris, Bobbi Head Green and her husband, Jake, Billy Coble III, Melanie Coble, Eric Coble and Kacy Coble; and two great-grandchildren, Jesse Paslay and Lilyan Paslay.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Coble.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Billy Coble, Eric Coble, Jake Green, Chris Paslay, Curt Parish, and Gerald Cheshier.
Honorary bearers will include the men of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church and fishing, hunting, and coffee drinking friends.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church building fund or the Alzheimer's Association.

Bud McElroy
DARDANELLE - L.D. “Bud” McElroy, 78, of Dardanelle died icon Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Baptist Medical Center.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Alonzo Mefford
CLARKSVILLE - Alonzo “Lon” Ervin Mefford, 76, of Hartman died icon Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at his home.
He was born icon Dec. 15, 1930, owned Mefford’s Upholstery Shop for more than 40 years and served 31⁄2 years in the Air Force, with most of that time in the Philippines. He was author of “God’s Laws: Your Blessings.” He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Ervin and Lettie May Jolly Mefford; brothers, Worth, Aubrey and Carroll Mefford; and a great-granddaughter, Allie Elizabeth Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Reicks Mefford; sons, Donnie Mefford of Russellville, Lonnie Mefford of Ozark and Ronnie Mefford of Clarksville; daughters, Bonnie O’Dell of Tucson, Ariz., Connie Mefford of Dover, Jannie Dudley of Ozark and Linda Gray of New Windsor, Md.; brothers, Robert Mefford of California, Boyd Mefford of Arizona and Don Mefford of Knoxville; stepchildren, Walter Stevens of Coal Hill and David Stevens of California; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Roller-Cox Chapel with Steve Kukla officiating. Music will be by Steve and Bonnie Kukla. Burial will be in Lamar Cemetery icon by Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers:
Active - Aubrey “Buz” Mefford, Mike Mefford, Donald Mefford, Mark Rinke, Dion Henson and Eric Harris.
Honorary - Joe Gillespie, Ernie Faust, Fred DeAryan, Aaron Henins and Ralph.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lon Mefford Memorial Fund, Regions Bank.

Jason Rainey
CLARKSVILLE - Jason Wayne Rainey, 36, of Benton died icon at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton.
He was a restaurant manager, a 1989 graduate of Lamar High School, a 1995 graduate of Arkansas Tech University, a licensed real estate agent, funeral director and phlebotomist.
Survivors include his parents, James Rainey of Knoxville and Shirley Russell Rainey of Clarksville; his partner, Jay Reid; his grandfather, Glenn Rainey of Knoxville; a brother, Rick Galvin of Mayflower; a sister, Jamie Rainey of Clarksville; a half-brother, Gregg Rainey of Lamar; a half-sister, Missy Dahlem of Clarksville; and a nephew, Dawson Rainey of Clarksville.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today at Hartman Cemetery. Arrangements are by Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Bess Warnsing
DANVILLE - Bess Ann Warnsing, 85, of Plainview died icon Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Dardanelle Nursing Home.
She was born icon April 5, 1921, at Corning, Ark. She was a retired pastor and charter member of Full Gospel Church in Plainview. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Warnsing.
Survivors include stepchildren, Wayne and Betty, Gene and Connie, Larry and Alice, David and Kathy, and Don Warnsing; cousin, Ruth Walker; spiritual granddaughters, Eva Houston and Paula Jones; 11 step-grandchildren; and 22 step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Trinity House of Prayer with Pastor Mike Gullet officiating.
Cremation arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.

Jose Alvarado
CLARKSVILLE - Jose Manuel Gutirrez Alvarado, 62, of Clarksville died icon Tuesday, Feb. 13.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elpida Gonzales.
Survivors include sons, Luis Gutirrez of Mexico, Jaime Gutirrez of Tulsa, Okla., and Manuel Gutirrez of Mexico; daughters, Bertha Gutirrez and Petra Gutirrez of Mexico; parents, Jose Luis Gutirrez and Mo Dominga Alvarado; siblings, Amelia Gutirrez Alvarado, Maria Ampara Gutirrez Alvarado, Alcanio Gutirrez Alvarado and Eularia Gutirrez Alvarado; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Burial will be in Mexico.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
