Goldie Lyons
Goldie Bonita Lyons, 80, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, in Texas.
She was born
Goldie Bonita Crites, Aug. 18, 1926, at Gum Log in Pope County to Kirksey and Sarah (McAnulty) Crites. She was married
Jan. 1, 1944, to William Allen Tredwell, with whom she had two children, Carolyn Jane Hargrove of Lubbock and Debra Kay Kirk of Lubbock. She married
William Cleo Lyons May 5, 1967, and was preceded by him in death in January 1996. She married
Hugo Diego in July 1997. She was a member of South Plains Church of Christ.
She is survived by her two daughters; two granddaughters, Leslie Pendergrass of Lubbock and Tina Lively of Albuquerque, N.M.; and four great-grandchildren, Brooke Pendergrass, Cory Martin, Dakota Coursey and Chase Lively.
A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Resthaven Chapel with Bob Reynolds officiating.
Quinn Page Jr.
ATKINS - Quinn Page, Jr., 82, of Atkins, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
He was born
July 17, 1924, at Treat, to Quinn and Lottie Underhill Page. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, of the Assembly of God faith, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Glenn Page; four sisters, Dolly Mathis, Clara Hayes, Euva Newton and Artie Page; and three brothers, Bill Page, Jack Page and Eugene Page.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lucille Page of Atkins; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Hickman of Atkins; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Bonnie Page and Kenneth and Vela Page, all of Russellville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jewell Mathis of Russellville, Cledith and Glen Latham of Russellville, and Faye and W.A. McAnulty of Pottsville; six grandchildren, James and Stacey Darter of Atkins, Cory Moore of Atkins, Scott and Nathan Page of Russellville and Heather Dunaway of London; a great-grandson, Devin Dunaway of London; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at the Shinn Chapel officiated by the Rev. Roy Chisum and the Rev. William Hickman. Burial with military honors provided by the Rogers- Rye Post 2283 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be in Pisgah Cemetery
near Pottsville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Page, Earl Page, Philip McCutcheon, Steven McCutcheon, Tommy Bowden and Freddy Bowden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dale Barton, M.D., James and Stacey Darter, Corey Moore, Nathan Page, Scott Page, Heather Dunaway, and Phillip Wilson.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
James Thompson
ATKINS - James Leonard Thompson, 87, of Atkins, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.
He was born
July 28, 1919, in Conway County, Ark., and was the son of the late Eugene and Hettie Williams Thompson. His wife, Helen Thompson, and two brothers, Tom Thompson and William Lee Thompson, also preceded him in death. He was retired from ConAgra.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann and Steve Moreland of Atkins and Peggy and Garry White of Atkins; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Pisgah Cemetery
with the Rev. Jeff Cheatham officiating. Arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service.
Stephen Vaughn
Stephen Vaughn, 21, of Dardanelle, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
The son of Lawrence Vaughn Jr. and Cheryl Lynn Terry Roberts, he was born
May 18, 1985, in Russellville. He was a musician and was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Elton Johnson.
He is survived by his father, Lawrence Vaughn Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Dardanelle; his mother, Cheryl Roberts and husband, David, of Dardanelle; one brother, Christopher Vaughn of Russellville; two sisters, Chelsea McNeely and husband, Mike, of Dardanelle, and Lauren Roberts of Dardanelle; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Shirley Vaughn of Dardanelle, and Joyce Prichard of Russellville; maternal grandparents, Loyd and Marguerite Terry of Dardanelle, and Euel and Elizabeth Roberts of Russellville; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; one nephew, and many friends.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Humphrey Chapel in Russellville with Brother Wylie Jones officiating. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery
at Dardanelle under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Fern Wood
DANVILLE - Fern Lee Wood, 65, of Danville died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
She was born
Jan. 12, 1941, at Chickalah Mountain to Newman Ethridge and Lillie Jean Horn Sugg. She retired after 30 years as an administrative assistant to the county supervisor of Farmers Home Administration-Rural Development and she was a member of Danville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Bill Bob Wood of Danville; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandra Wood of Rogers; sisters, Mildred Allen of Belton, Mo., and Pauline Patton of Charleston, Mo.; grandson, Ronnie Vaughn of Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Kaden, Allison and Madison Vaughn, all of Rogers.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Danville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Sullinger and the Rev. Benny Harmon officiating. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Wednesday.
Doris Roach
Doris Eva Wylie Roach, age 73, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Russellville Nursing Center.
A daughter of the late Homer and Florence Turnbow Wylie, she was born
June 30, 1933, in Cabot. She was a Baptist and was retired from AVI (Arkansas Valley Industries). She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Roach; a brother, Lowman Wylie; and two sisters, Thelma Roach and Donie Goforth.
Survivors include a brother, F.E. “Pete” Wylie of Cabot; and several nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Judkins officiating. Burial will be in the Linker Cemetery
at Dover under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mildred Pearson
DARDANELLE - Mildred Pearson, 80, of Mount George died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville.
Arrangements will be announced by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle.
Jeff Doherty
Jeff Doherty, age 47, of Russellville, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at the National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs.
A son of the late Floyd and Marvine Mosley Doherty, he was born
Jan. 28, 1959, in Fordyce. He was an avid reader, and was formerly employed at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center and the JCPenny store in Russellville, and was the minister of the former Clarksville Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Alana Doherty; a brother, Michard Doherty of Camden; and two sisters, June Doherty of Ada, Okla., and Carol Rodgers of Chidester, Ark.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at the Shinn Chapel officiated by Bill Groff. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, by Shinn Funeral Service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Arlon Bean, Floyd Guiling, Mike Hughes and the men of Boulder Avenue Christian Church.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
