in Little Rock, Rick graduated from McClellan High School before attending the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. After his schooling Rick worked for 6 years with A.O. Smith Pipe Manufacturers. He then worked for his father Charles Bishop at Klean Inc., before starting his own janitorial services in 1983, First Environmental Services and the Vacuum Sweep of Arkansas. Rick loved playing with his kids, and enjoyed fishing, skiing, and camping. His love of nature was typified by his living in the country where he and his family raised chickens, cows, and goats, to mention a few. Rick was a regular volunteer at Stew Pot, past volunteer with The Optimist Christmas tree sales, and attended Highland Valley United Methodist Church. He was good listener, hardworking and compassionate, with a desire to always tinker. He claimed to be able to fix anything if he had enough duct tape and coat hangers.
Rick is predeceased by his parents, Charles Harris and Evelyn Louise Tschumi Bishop. Rick is survived by his wife, Katherine "Kathy" Ann Black Bishop of Little Rock, one son, William Bishop, three daughters; Nicole, Emily and Mary Grace Bishop all of Little Rock, two brothers; Doug Bishop and wife Debbie of Bryant, Ted Bishop and wife Becky of Paron, and one sister Julie Bishop of Little Rock and his mom and step-dad Jack Eutha Bishop Scott, step-brother, Greg Jones and wife Elizabeth, of Little Rock, and Norma Bishop of Little Rock.
There will be a visitation Thursday from 5 to 7pm at Ruebel Funeral Home followed Friday with a funeral service at Highland Valley United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Reverend Kurt Boggan. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Dr. Almen L. Barron
Dr. Almen L. Barron, 77, of Little Rock died, Sunday, November 16, 2003. He was born
in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, January 19, 1926 the son of Max and Bena Barron. He became a United States citizen in 1963. He was educated in Canada, receiving a B.S.A. degree in 1948 from the Ontario Agricultural College (University of Toronto), a M.S.A. degree in 1949 and a PhD. Degree from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario in 1953. He joined the Department of Microbiology, University of Buffalo, later State University of New York at Buffalo, in 1954 and was promoted to Professor in 1968.
He came to Arkansas in 1974 as professor and Chairman of the department of Microbiology in the College of Medicine, UAMS. The department was renamed the Department of Microbiology and Immunology shortly thereafter. He had strong interests in clinical virology and was appointed consultant to the Little Rock VA Medical Center. Until his retirement in 1991, as professor emeritus, Dr. Barron ejoyed an active career in teaching and research. Highlights included a Fulbright research scholarship in Israel, 1964 and visiting professor at Kaohsiung Medical College, Taiwan in 1982. He co-edited with Noel R. Rose: Basic Microbiology Principles and Clinical Applications in 1983 and edited "Microbiology of Chlamydia in 1988. He received the golden Apple Award Student AMA, in 1975 and 1977. He was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award, Arkansas Caduceus Club in 1990. During his career he was an active member of a number of scientific societies which included the American Academy of Microbiology, emeritus, American Society of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases Society of American, emeritus and the American Association of Immunologists. Dr. Barron had been a member of Congregation B'Nai Israel since 1974. He was also and avid hockey fan.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of fifty-four years, a son, Joshua C. Barron and his wife Tammy L. Barron and their son, Jared J. Barron, all of Bryant, Arkansas and a sister Merrill Spreng of Atlanta, GA.
A visitation will be held from 5-7p.m. Monday at the Ruebel Funeral Home. A private graveside funeral service will be held at Oakland Jewish Cemetery.

Mark Andrew Barrett
Mark Andrew Barrett of Little Rock, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 1, 2003, at the age of 48. He is survived by his mother, Glenna Choate Barrett, his father, Milton R. Barrett Sr. of Little Rock, and his brother Milton R. Barrett II, M.D and his wife Dawn B. Barrett of Memphis, TN. Other survivors include aunts and uncles, Corene Choate Carpenter and Jackson H. Carpenter of Hamburg, AR, Irma Boyd Barrett and Donald A. Barrett of Huntsville, AL, Evelyn Meeks Barrett and Homer Dale Barrett of Chattanooga, TN and numerous cousins as well as one nephew, Jacob B. Barrett of Memphis.
Mr. Barrett was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School where he was the art editor for the school newspaper. He attended Mississippi College in Clinton, MS on an Arts Scholarship. He later attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature. He worked for several years as a layout artist for Falcon Publishing in Little Rock.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 West Markham, Little Rock, AR. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Ruebel Funeral Home with Dr. Rex Horne officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 2801 Asher Ave.

Thomas Anthony Barranco
Thomas Anthony Barranco, 45of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, July 16 after a lengthy illness.
Thomas was a 1976 graduate of Watson Chapel High School, and his thirst for knowledge continued throughout his life. He was a voracious reader, lover of the written word, and student of antiquities. His quest for knowledge was fueled by his lifelong pursuit of the Truth and a desire to reach higher spiritually.
God blessed him with many gifts and talents. He was a skilled artist, developing a style much like that of Michael Angelo. He specialized in Classic Iconic Art. He possessed a great love for music and had quite a beautiful singing voice himself. He had a tender heart for animals and all of nature.
The son of the late Phillip C. Barranco, Thomas leaves behind his mother, Lois Wilson Barranco, two brothers, Philip(Shelba) of Pine Bluff and Robert (Amy) of Hot Springs and three sisters, Vanessa, Teresa and Paula, all of Little Rock. We will miss him; but we know he is happy with God on this, his Magical Mystery Tour.
There will be a memorial service held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Lakeside Methodist Church at 1500 Olive Street in Pine Bluff. The family will receive friends at 6800 Ozark, Pine Bluff following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Center, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home.
Clara Mae Alley Barnard
Clara May Alley Barnard, 100, of Dallas, formerly of Little Rock, AR, died Saturday, April 26, 2003. Survivors are three sons, Col. Martin Jay Barnard USAF, (Ret) and wife, Jeanette of Henderson, NV; Bill Barnard and wife, Marilyn of Dallas; and Lewis A. Barnard and wife, Jo Ellen of Richardson; a sister, Mary Hart and husband, Delmar of Little Rock, AR; Five grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Barnard of fifty four years, a sister, Blanche Alley, and one granddaughter.
After graduating from Little Rock High School, she attended Henderson Brown College in Arkadelphia. Mrs. Barnard was a life member and past-president of the Woman's Club of Little Rock, many book and bridge clubs and was a talented artist. She was a life long Methodist and a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held at the Mausoleum at Pine Crest Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church or The Linda B. Wade Memorial Scholarship Fund at Dallas Theological Seminary 3909 Swiss Ave. Dallas, TX. 75204 or a charity of your choice.

Arthur Bruce Buck, Jr.
Arthur Bruce (A.B.) Buck, Jr. age 86, of Little Rock, died on Wednesday, July 30th. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Davidson Buck. Mr. Buck was born
in Memphis, TN, the son of Arthur Bruce Buck, Sr. and Lola Richardson Buck. He graduated from Little Rock High School, where he was drum major and played trombone with a popular dance band. He served with valor in the Navy in World War II, and participated in the invasions of Guadalcanal, Okinawa, Southern France and Sicily. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 43 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Forrest City.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Bruce Buck (Fran) of Hope and Brantly Buck (Kate) of Little Rock, a sister, Cordelia Buck Stumberg, of St. Charles, MO, and 4 grandchildren, Philip, David, Jenny and James Buck.
Services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Walter Smith and Rev. Louann Murphy, followed by a family graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery.
