on November 22, 1931 in Bradford, Arkansas, Mr. Patterson was the only son of the late Dewey Patterson and Opal Scantlin Patterson. He graduated from Bald Knob High School and attended Arkansas State Teachers College before serving his country in the Navy during the Korean War, where he was decorated for action in the invasion of Inchon in 1950.
After the war he entered the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he was treasurer of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He received a B.S. in Business Administration.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Lackey Patterson, his sons Joe Patterson, Jr., and Chris Patterson, both of Houston, Texas, and his son Larry and his wife, Marie, of North Little Rock. His twin grandsons, Brandon Govan and Carter Alexander, born
earlier this year, were the great joy of his life. He leaves behind a number of relatives, and many friends.
Joe was a natural salesman. In the course of his career, he was associated with the Frank Lyon Company of Little Rock and the Mischer Corporation of Houston, Texas. For the last 15 years, he has been a contract salesman for the W.L. Roberts Company in Memphis. He always had the gift of good humor and charm, and that sparkle in his eye that made him welcome when he called on his clients.
Joe was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Little Rock, where he was president of the Boanerges Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23 at Ruebel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday October 24 at Trinity United Methodist Church with interment
following in Roselawn Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Boanerges Sunday School Class.

Marian Thorpe Flake
Marian Thorpe Flake, age 93, of Little Rock, died, Wednesday, March 5, 2003. She is survived by her sister Helen Hoke of Little Rock, a brother Clifford Thorpe of Little Rock, a son Morgan Flake of Little Rock, three daughters, Sue Kochel and Husband Guy of Jonesboro, Ruth Healy and husband Joe of Little Rock, Trisha Norton and husband Bob of Benton, 6 grandchildren; Kerri Garrison, Kristy Kirby, Charles Kochel, Mike, Kevin, and Brian Norton, and 6 great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service Saturday, March 8th at 1 pm at First Presbyterian Church officiated by Reverend Howard Gordon.

Julia Jane Norton Flack
Julia Jane Norton Flack of Little Rock and Heber Springs, died at her Eden Isle home on June 13, 2003. She was born
April 27, 1934 in St. Louis, MO to Amelia and Richard Norton. During her eight-year battle with ovarian cancer she remained very active and always focused on the positives in life, especially family and friends. Her courage and strength in facing her illness was a true inspiration of the human spirit to everyone who knew her.
Jane grew up in Blytheville, Jonesboro, and Little Rock. She was chosen as a 1952 Greater Little Rock Rose Festival Princess and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1952, where she was a member of the Southernaires Club. She attended Hendrix College in Conway and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Jane was actively involved in her community through out her life. She was president of the 20th Century Club and Arkansas Children's Hospital Auxiliary. She served on the board of C.A.R.T.I. and was an active volunteer with St. Vincent's Infirmary Reach for Recovery program for victims of breast cancer. She was a member of the Marketers Investment Club, Scattered Seeds Garden Club and the Country Club of Little Rock. In 1980 she co-founded New Traditions, a women's clothing boutique, where for 15 years, she helped to develop it into a thriving Heights Institution.
Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Dr. James V. Flack of Eden Isle and Little Rock; her son, Dr. Jim Flack of Houston, TX; two daughters, Laura Flack of Austin, TX, and Cathy Murphy and her husband Warren Murphy of Little Rock; and three grandchildren, Jay, John and Mark Murphy. A sister-in-law, Mary Bess Flack Mullholan of Hilton Head, South Carolina, also survives her.
"Lady Jane" as many knew her, loved cooking, entertaining, gardening and interior decorating. She was a woman of quiet elegance, poise, beauty and kindness who will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.

Janet C. Fason
Janet C. Fason, 52, of Searcy, died on Monday, September 29, 2003. The Loving mother of one son and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother Catheryn Sandmon of Woodson, her son Chris Lewis and wife Lisa of Indianapolis, Indiana, grandchildren, Taylor and Lane Lewis of Indianapolis, Indiana. May she rest in peace.
There will be a visitation on Thursday October 9, 2003 at Ruebel Funeral Home at 10:00 am with a service following at 11:00 am in the Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Hurd officiating. There will be a graveside service at 2:00 pm in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Beebe following the service in Little Rock.

Nora Ruth Herrick
Nora Ruth Herrick, age 81, of North Little Rock, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 22, 2003. She was born
on November 7, 1921 to the late Frank and Nora Booth. She was a nurse with the U.S. Navy, where she met her husband of 53 years, the late Chaplain Carl Walter Herrick. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a loving mother, sister, wife, and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by her four children, Frances Herrick Middleton, Walter Carl Herrick, David Herrick, and Mark Phillip Herrick. She is also survived by one sister, Gracie Leavitt of Safford, AZ. She was preceded in death by her brother, Burl Booth and her sister, Zola Booth.
There will be a visitation from 7:00-9:00 Tuesday evening at the church in North Little Rock. The funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (901 Kierre Road) at 10:00 AM, Wednesday with Bishop Gregory K. Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Kathryn Elise Henson
Kathryn Elise Henson, 14, of Little Rock, died Monday, September 1, 2003 on Lake Quachita. Kathryn was born
in Little Rock to Doug and Vicki Yarberry Henson. She graduated from Christ Lutheran School and was a freshman at Lutheran High School. She enjoyed drama and loved wakeboarding and other activities at the lake. Kathryn is survived by her parents, her sister, Lauren, grandparents, James and Frances Yarberry of Hot Springs Village and James and Nell Henson of Blytheville, AR, uncles and aunts, Janice and Steve Littrell of Blytheville, Paul Henson of North Little Rock, Pam Zabicki of Little Rock, Eddie and Suzanne Yarberry of Turlock, CA, Jim and Nancy Yarberry of Lake Jackson, TX and cousins, Jessica, Beth, Vicki, Denise, Jennifer and Danny.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ruebel Funeral Home with funeral services following on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Lutheran High School.
