Mildred Rose Westmoreland
Mildred Rose Westmoreland, age 83, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003. She was born
in Little Rock where she also graduated from high school. Mildred began her working career with Pfeifer-Blass Department Stores later the Dillard Department Stores where she became a buyer for the Jewelry, and hosiery departments, and later a clerical in the cosmetics department, retiring after 52 years of service. She lived downtown and when working at the Dillard's offices she would walk to and from work everyday, a total of 5 miles. Mildred enjoyed visiting the race-track, sewing, and walking.
She is survived by a host of friends and co-workers, and predeceased by her two brothers, Thomas and Sam Westmoreland.
There will be a memorial funeral service Wednesday, today, at 4pm at the Ruebel Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Clayton John Wells
Clayton John Wells, age 83, consulting Geologist and long time resident of Little Rock, died Saturday, December 13, 2003. Mr. Wells was a graduate of Mississippi State University, a registered professional geologist and former District Geologist of the Little Rock District Corps of Engineers. He was involved in the siting, explorations, and development of rock foundations of most of the dams White and Arkansas Rivers. As a consulting Geologist, after retirement form the Corp of Engineers, he performed foundation and safety inspections of new federal dams throughout Arkansas Missouri and Oklahoma. He was a member of the American Society of Engineering Geologists, a member of Registered Professional Geologists, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. He was a retired Major in the Army Reserves, and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, receiving the Bronze Star for combat action as a platoon commander.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Wells He is survived by two sons; Phillip John Wells of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Clayton Craig Wells of Tulsa, Oklahoma, four grandchildren; Patrick and Adam Wells of Little Rock, and Kevin Wells of Minneapolis, MN and Robert Wells of Jonesboro.
There will be a visitation at Ruebel Funeral Home Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Patrick Murray officiating. Burial will follow services with full military honors at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
Atha Williams Webb
Atha Williams Webb, age 91, of Little Rock died September 8, 2003. She was born
July 12, 1912 in Strawberry, Arkansas to the late David and Aggie Williams. She began teaching when she was sixteen and taught for several years before her marriage.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Rev. Maurice Webb; her three children, Maurice Webb Jr. of Bigelow, Kathy Webb of Little Rock, and Marcia Caplinger and husband Kelsy of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Paul Lecky III and his wife Nancy of Woodland Park, Colorado, Laura Coulter and husband John of Little Rock, and Mauri Arnold and husband Chris of Tampa, Florida. She is also survived by six great-grand children, Samantha and Matthew Lecky, Jonathan Webb Coulter, and Rachel, Katherine, and Eliza Arnold.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 11th, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeanie Burton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church, 723 Center Street, Little Rock, AR 72201.

Dorothy Rose Williams Waddell
Dorothy Rose Williams Waddell of Little Rock, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003. She was born
August 14, 1914, the eldest daughter of Marie Hanson and Alfred Fanning Williams. She lived her early years in Driver, Arkansas and graduated from high school in Wilson, Arkansas, later studying art in Memphis. She and her husband lived in Osceola, Arkansas for sixty years before moving to Little Rock. She was active in St. Matthew's Catholic Church as an organist and president of the alter guild, as well as other areas of their community. She shared her creativity and her artistic talents with all who knew her. Her passions were her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Gerald Lee Waddell. She is survived by one daughter, Gaye Anderson and husband Bob of Little Rock, one brother Robert H. Williams and wife Merle of Little Rock, 4 sisters; Alice Shippen of Yuma, Arizona, Jean Rose of Nashville, Tennessee, Jane White of Memphis, Tennessee, Marjorie Pollard of Birmingham, Alabama, 3 grandchildren; Heather Brown and husband Garrett of Fort Worth, Texas, Robert Anderson and wife Tish of Little Rock, Chris Anderson of Beaver Creek, Colorado, 5 great-grandchildren; Maggie, Kate, Brennan and Trevor Anderson of Little Rock, and Robert Shaw Brown of Fort Worth, Texas.
Arrangements of Mrs. Waddell's funeral service are to be announced. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Dr. Francis Buchanan
Dr. Francis Randall (Tony) Buchanan, of Little Rock, died Friday, June 11, 2004. He was the son of Dr. Frank Reitz and Carrie Mae Hesse Buchanan, and was born
April 25, 1917, in Thomas, Oklahoma. He graduated from Canton High School, attended Northwestern Oklahoma College, received a BS from The University of Oklahoma, and graduated from The University of Oklahoma Medical School in 1942. He served in the US Navy Medical Corp in Honolulu, Hawaii Submarine Base during World War II. Dr. Buchanan finished his internship at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. He served his residencies in surgery at St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and Illinois and Hines Veterans Hospital in Maywood, Illinois. In 1951, he moved his family to Little Rock, where he was associated with the New Veterans Hospital in the Surgery Department. He started his private practice two years later. He was a former member of the Arkansas Medical Society, American Medical Society, Southern Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, American Board of Surgery, and Southwestern Surgical College. He was a board member of Little Rock Land Company, which built the Doctor's Building and Hospital. He was a staff member of St. Vincent Hospital, Baptist Hospital, Children's Hospital, and Doctor's Hospital. He was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, where formerly served on the Board and taught Sunday school. Tony was an avid golfer with membership at Pleasant Valley Country Club. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Arkansas Hospice for their compassionate care.
Dr. Buchanan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Edwards Buchanan of Little Rock, three sons: Dr. Frank Randall Buchanan and wife Patricia of Eugene, Oregon, Charles Millard Buchanan of Denton, Texas, and James Douglas Buchanan of Charlotte, North Carolina, 8 grandchildren: Tricia, Ryan, Louisa, Laura, Amy, Stephen and Ehren Buchanan, and Heidi Chackle, 2 great-grandchildren: Colby and Alex Chackle, a sister Carolee Abshire of Georgetown, Texas, sister-in-law Bobbie Buchanan of Sacramento, California, a brother-in-law Harry Haigler of Canton, Oklahoma, a brother-in-law Charles Edwards and wife Nancy of Texarkana, Texas, brother-in-law Duffy Martin and wife Juanita of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Ruebel Funeral Home.

Anale Newton Yarbrough
Anale Newton Yarbrough, 81, who was Director of Volunteers & Development at Camp Aldersgate from 1983 to 1986, Administrative Assistant in Attorney General Jim Guy Tucker's office from 1972 to 1976, Special Assistant to Congressman Tucker in Washington from 1977 to 1978, Overseas Director for American Field Service in Thailand from 1967 to 1972, a member of the AFS/USA Board of Directors from 1987 to 1990, and served AFS in Arkansas in many volunteer capacities for over thirty years, died of cancer on February 18th 2002 at her home in Little Rock.
Anale Yarbrough was born
in Hope and grew up in Hope and Little Rock. She graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1938 and from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1940. After years spent in Dallas and in Southeast Asia, she and her husband moved to historic Butterfield Place at the base of Pinnacle Mountain in 1972, where they hosted innumerable gatherings of friends, until they returned to Little Rock in 1998. She was an active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, a member of Arkansas Press Women and the National Federation of Press Women, and a member of Governor Bill Clinton's Advisory Council on Volunteerism. She was most recently a volunteer at the Clinton Library Archives, senior spooner and spiritual director at the wall constructed at Lee and Ash, and a signer of the Statement of Concern against the war in Iraq which appeared in the Democrat Gazette on February 13th.
Anale Yarbrough was a fifth generation Arkansan. Her parents were Basil E. Newton and Annie Forney Newton of Hope and Little Rock. Her sister, Alice Newton Gray, Director of the Little Rock Public Library, died in 1979. Her husband of 58 years, William C. Yarbrough, died in 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Yarbrough Jr. of Austin Texas and Ken Yarbrough of Flagstaff Arizona, a daughter, Anne Yarbrough of Washington DC, her adopted son Surin Pitsuwan, M.P., of Bangkok Thailand; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to a memorial service at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church on Friday, February 21st, at 10:00 a.m. with a reception at the church afterward. Private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made in Anale's memory to American Field Service USA/198 Madison Ave, 8th floor/ New York NY 10016; Camp Aldersgate /2000 Aldersgate Rd/ Little Rock 72205; or to Heifer Project International/ 1015 Louisiana St/ Little Rock 72202. Patricia Ann Willingham
Patricia Ann Willingham of Little Rock went to be with her creator on Saturday, January 18, 2003. She was born
on September 14, 1934, in Oklahoma City to Jim and Frankie Cable Willingham. She attended Oklahoma State University where she was a majorette. Patricia was an avid sports spectator, loved to play bridge, bowl, and fish, however her greatest love was her “baby girls”. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, D.D. Horton and her husband, Jerry, and Tami Fisher and her husband, Danny, all of Little Rock. She was known as “Gran” to her grandsons, Jared and Greg Horton and Stuart and Sam Fisher. She is also survived by a nephew, Rick Proffitt, of Oklahoma City and three great aunts. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Willingham Proffitt McCord. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday in the Chapel at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeffery Warrick officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Baptist Health Foundation.
Margaret (Peg) Jane Davis Williams
Margaret (Peg) Jane Davis Williams died on July 13, 2003 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Peg was born
October 30, 1913 on the Davis Farm in Stronghurst, Illinois. She was an elementary school teacher in Decatur, Illinois until she retired in the late 70's. She returned to teaching part time in Little Rock as an ESL tutor.
She was an active member, until her death, in the Second Presbyterian Church of Little Rock. She participated in the hand bell and Church Choir. Along with passion for people and music she enjoyed ballroom dancing.
A Memorial has been established at the Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock 72227 designated to the Church Choir. A memorial service under the direction of Ruebel Funeral home will be announced at later date.
Mary Elizabeth "Betty" White
Mary Elizabeth "Betty" White, 59, of Little Rock, died February 13, 2003. She was born
on March 10, 1943 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of the late R. P. and Juanita Scruggs. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. She is survived by a daughter, Ashley Fisher and her husband Sterling, a grandchild, Will; a brother, Jack Scruggs and his wife Carolyn and two loving nieces, Kelli Ann Goolsby and Tracy Lynn Pearson; a sister, Marcey Scruggs; and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home.
