Gerald "Buddy" Lee Waddell

Gerald "Buddy" Lee Waddell, age 87, of Little Rock, died icon Saturday, January 13, 2001. He was born icon in Osceola, Arkansas where he graduated from high school. Having served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II he later became a retail merchant owning and operating Waddell Jewelry and Gift of Osceola which he maintained for over 30 years. While in Osceola he was very active at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Rotary Club International, Kiwanis Club, The United Way, and the Osceola Country Club. In 1998 he and his wife moved to Little Rock residing at Pleasant Hills Retirement Community. In Little Rock he was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church. Buddy was thought of as a kind man. His hobbies were helping others, and being with his grandchildren, and it was often said that he never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Rose Williams Waddell of Little Rock, one daughter Gay Anderson and her husband Bob of Little Rock, one sister Anna V. Hudson of West Memphis, three grandchildren Heather Brown, Robert and Chris Anderson, 4 great-grandchildren, Maggie, Kat, and Brennan Anderson and Robert Shaw. There will be Mass of Christian Burial at Christ The King Catholic Church at 11 A. M. Tuesday, followed by burial at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Catholic Church of Osceola, Arkansas 72370, or The Monsignor Allen Trust Fund, Our Lady of The Holy Souls School, 1003 North Tyler Street, Little Rock 72205.

Ross Bingham Vandever

Ross Bingham Vandever, 85, born icon July 30, 1915 in Fredonia, Kansas, son of the late Charles DeWitt and Dora Bell Bingham Vandever, died icon Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at his home. Mr. Vandever graduated from high school in Kansas and attended Kansas State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, graduating in 1937. He worked for Orbit Valve Company in Little Rock, retiring in 1980 as a Vice President and Chief Engineer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy where he was a pilot, flying in the South Pacific. Mr. Vandever was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Josephine E. Vandever of Little Rock, two sons, William R. Vandever of Ward, Arkansas, James S. Vandever of Little Rock, two daughters, Linda J. Maxwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Laura L. Bingham of Denton, Texas; a brother, Rollin Vandever; grandchildren, Carolyn Maxwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, William Ross Vandever, II and Allison Vandever both of Ward, Ryan Bingham and Alissa Bingham both of Denton.

Services will be Friday, June 8, 2001 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Vic Nixon. Inurnment will be Monday, at 11:00 AM in Fredonia Cemetery, Fredonia, Kansas by Timmons Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Family requests that memorial contributions be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 2222, Little Rock, Arkansas 72203.

Lacrecia Ann Marie Uptain

Lacrecia Ann Marie Uptain, age 4 years, of Little Rock, died icon Friday, July 6, 2001. Lacrecia was born icon in Little Rock December 17, 1996. She will be missed and loved dearly by her family. She will always be their sunshine and precious angel. She is survived by her parents Dale Uptain, Jr. and Charlotte Chism Uptain both of Little Rock, one brother Steven Uptain of Little Rock, her maternal grandparents Patricia Button and Jurda Holland, her paternal grandmother Virginia Trice, and she was predeceased by her paternal grandfather Carl Trice, Sr. who died icon in 1997.

There will be a formal visitation today (Sunday) from 4 to 6 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Monday by a service in the Chapel of the funeral home at 9 A.M. officiated by Pastor George Strickland. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Lora E. Thibeault Turgeon

Lora E. (Thibeault) Turgeon, 82, of 45 Singletary Road, died icon in her home on Thursday, May 10, after a long illness. She leaves her husband of 56 years, Paul A. Turgeon; two sons: Paul A. Turgeon, Jr. of Northbridge, MA, and Bernard J. Turgeon of Little Rock, AR; a daughter, Denise A. Kilfoil of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Norma C. Benoit of Worcester, MA; 3 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A sister, Ann M. Thibeault of Millbury, died icon in 1995.

She was born icon in Worcester, a daughter of the late Alphonse S. and Evangeline M. (Brouillard) Thibeault, on August 15, 1918. She was a lifelong resident of Millbury and graduated from Millbury High School in 1938.

Mrs. Turgeon co-owned and assisted in the operation of Turgeon Funeral Homes of Millbury and Northbridge for many years.

She served the town of Millbury as secretary of the Board of Selectman, secretary of the Rationing Board during World War II, as an assistant Tax Collector, and as a Registrar of Voters for many years.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish, it Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, and its St. Anne's Guild. She was a member of the parish choir, and the parish council for many years. She was a member of the Millbury Women's Club, the Franco-American Progressive Club, Millbury, and the Cercle Jeanne Mance, Worcester.

The funeral will begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 15, in Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 10 Waters Street. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, May 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm Members of the St. Anne's Guild will meet at 7:30 pm on Monday, May 14, in the funeral home to conduct their ritual. Information support by Ruebel Funeral Home.

Grover C. Tuley, Jr.

Mr. Grover C. Tuley, Jr. 85, of Little Rock, AR died icon Sunday, April 8, 2001. He was born icon in Obion, Tennessee. As a boy Mr. Tuley loved to build amateur radios and went on in life to do service work on radios, TVs and electronic organs. He could repair just about anything that had wires and most enjoyed his work on church organs, doing work for Colaianni Piano and Organ Co. as well as other individuals around the state. He retired in 1986. While a young family man he lived in Miami, FL and served in the Civil Service.

He was married icon to Gladys Ross Tuley, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Patricia Burkin of Fayetteville, Janice Heflin, of Arlington, TX and Jerry Tuley of Albuquerque, NM, brother, Jimmy Tuley, of Little Rock, and ten grandchildren.

There will be a visitation from 9-10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. His body will be cremated and burial of remains will be at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

James William "Bill" Wood

James William "Bill" Wood, age 87 of Little Rock, died icon Sunday, August 11, 2001. He was born icon in Clarksburg, West Virginia. His family moved to Texas in 1920 and resided in Fort Worth. Bill Wood moved to Little Rock in 1941. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, retiring after 37 years with Wittenberg, Delony and Davidson Architect firm. He was a past president of the Mid Southern Watercolorist Association and his paintings are represented in numerous corporate and private collections. Mr. Wood was an avid golfer until age 80 and served two terms as president of the local Bi-Weekly Golfer's Association. During World War II he served in the 880th Battalion of the Air Born Engineers from 1942 to 1946. Staff Sergeant Wood saw duty in Asia, Pacific, New Guinea Theatres and was involved with the Philippine Liberation. He was a longtime member of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Wood is predeceased by his wife Mary Davidson Wood who died icon in 1990. He is survived by two daughters Melissa Ann Wood and husband Stephen Coffeen of Davis, California, Paula W. Highfill of Little Rock, brother John Paul Wood and wife Elizabeth of Fort Worth, Texas, sister-in-law Irene Davidson, nephew Randy Davidson of Rogers, Arkansas, one grandchild Robert Todd Highfill and one great-grandchild Robert Todd Wood, Jr.

A graveside service will be held on August 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Westover Hills Presbyterian Church.

Sirvetus "Si" Womack, Jr.

Sirvetus "Si" Womack, Jr. of Quitman, AR passed away Thursday, March 8, 2001. Si was born icon September 29, 1926 in Murfreesboro, AR. Si graduated from Murfreesboro High School. He and his family moved to Little Rock in 1942. He served in the U. S. Navy from October 1944 to April 1946, attended Little Rock Junior College and was employed with American Air Lines, Ralston Purina Co., and Coopers Communities at Cherokee Village. He left Cherokee Village for Fairfield Bay in it's infancy. Si started as a salesman and was elevated to Vice President of sales. He retired from Fairfield Bay as Director of Public Relations. Si was a Charter member of Fairfield Bay Rotary Club, former Vice President of the Russellville Jaycees and a member of the Lions Club. Si was a big Razorback fan, volunteering to work with the Razorback Foundation, and Booster Club for several years supporting the hogs enthusiastically , attending most of the bowl games.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Belle Womack, a sister and brother-in-law, Benny Sue and Paul Galsendo of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his only child Susan Gail Womack Tunnison. Si was a member of the Greenbrier Church of Christ and was a Sunday School teacher,. Visitation will be held from 3-5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2001 at the Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham in Little Rock followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Greenbrier Church of Christ with Mr. Bob Turner officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Geneva Jones Winters

Geneva Jones Winters, age 84, of Little Rock, died icon Wednesday, August 15, 2001. She was born icon in Little Rock. She later graduated from Conway Baptist College receiving her Masters degree in education. She taught elementary school but enjoyed most the Kindergarten level of which she devoted most of her time, retiring after twenty five of service, in 1981. Geneva was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher's Sorority, Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority, and a member of the Arkansas and Little Rock Retired Teacher's Association.

She is survived by her son Larry F. Winters and wife LeAnne of Maumelle, Arkansas, 2 grandchildren, Drew and Stacey Winters, 5 nieces Sue Bustion of Rolla, Missouri, Ann Clark of Toronto, Canada, Ellen Long of Fripp Island, South Carolina, Carol Holcomb of Little Rock, one nephew Paul Jolly of Bethesda, Maryland. and a longtime friend and caregiver Gladys Adair.

There will be a visitation with family Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. at Ruebel Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service Friday at 10 A.M. at the funeral home chapel officiated by Dr. Rex Horne. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or the Geneva Winters Scholarship Fund At the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Elgenia Ford Gray Williams

Elgenia Ford Gray Williams, 61, of Paris, Arkansas, died icon Friday, September 21, in Little Rock. She was the daughter of the late Rogers and Mary Elgenia Ford Gray of Paris. She taught English at Paris High School for 26 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paris. She is survived by two daughters, Christy Williams Werner and Misty Leigh Williams; and a granddaughter, Meredith Grace Werner, all of Little Rock.

Family visitation will be Sunday from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at Roller Funeral Home in Paris. Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, at First Baptist Church in Paris followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
