Sandra Kay "Sandy" Pearce Latture
Sandra Kay (Sandy) Pearce Latture of Little Rock, died October 24, 2004 following a courageous, 12 year battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Paul Latture, executive director of the Little Rock Port Authority; a son Paul III and his wife Jennifer of Jackson, Tennessee; a son Brian and his wife Allison of Dallas; two granddaughters, Abigail Latture, 6, and Claudia Latture, 3, both of Jackson, Tennessee; her mother, Margaret Carlene Pearce of Little Rock; a sister Jennifer Ann Johnson and her husband Tim of Little Rock; and a nephew, Taylor Johnson, 14, of Little Rock; and an aunt, Alice Lorraine Bowden of Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Dale Pearce.
Sandy grew up in Fort Smith, graduating from Northside High School. She met her husband, Paul, as a teenager at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith. Their first date was when she had to work at a concession stand at a high school football game. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
Sandy loved sports; she was an avid Razorback football fan, attending as many home games as possible with Paul. Health permitting, she attended soccer, football and basketball games of her granddaughters and nephew.
She loved traveling and that was good because she moved to Denver, Tulsa, Lake Charles, back to Little Rock, Joplin, Wichita Falls, Texas, Jackson and then back again to Little Rock, with her husband whose Chamber and economic development career took him to those cities. But Arkansas was always home and to Sandy, there was no place like home.
She enjoyed playing bridge and as a young girl, one of her favorite memories was going to Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma, with her family. She was a happy, giving and loving person, with the greatest love being her family, especially those two granddaughters. Sandy was a fashion consultant for Doncaster for ten years in Little Rock, and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Little Rock. A lifelong Methodist, she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Little Rock.
