Alvina Benish
Alvina Benish, age 92, of Little Rock, died Friday, November 29, 2002. She was born
in Hazen, Arkansas later graduating from now Lyon's College in Batesville. Besides teaching school Alvina was a court stenographer and credit manager. She moved to Little Rock in the 50s. She is survived by her great-niece, Casandra Taylor of Little Rock.
There will be a graveside funeral service Wednesday at 2 P.M. at Forest Hills Cemetery
officiated by Reverend Gregory T. Luyet. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Jack A. Barrier, Jr.
Jack A. Barrier, Jr. of Little Rock died August 7, 2002. He was born
February 5, 1915 in Little Rock, the son of the late Jack and Camille Pearson Barrier.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Flora Fae "Flossie" Canant Barrier; sons John Michael Barrier and wife Phyllis of Alexandria, Virginia, and William Christopher Barrier and wife Nan Selz of Little Rock. He is also survived by granddaughters Catherine Emily Barrier and husband James Dugan of Los Angeles, California, and SevaPriya Sarah Barrier of Austin, Texas, and by his daughter-in-law, Emily C. Barrier of Little Rock. He is preceded in death by his brother William Maurice Barrier. Jack was a graduate of Little Rock High School. He was a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy during World War II in Jacksonville, Florida. His career in sales concentrated on automobiles and trucks, principally through his company, Little Rock White Sales and Service, but also included equipment, real estate, municipal bonds and wholesale flowers. He was an active member of Lions Club International, an avid golfer, a voracious reader and a loving grandfather. He retired early in 1982 from Block-Meeks Realty in order to spend more time with his granddaughters.
A memorial reception will be held at the Fletcher branch of the Central Arkansas Library, Buchanan and "H" Streets, at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 14th. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Dolores C. Falk Baker
Dolores C. Falk Baker, age 81, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002. She was born
in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Peter and Bertha French Falk. Dolores was a published short story and poetry writer and once a member of the Writer's Club in Indiana. She lived in Indiana, and Northwest Arkansas before moving to Little Rock in 1974, to be with her daughter. She was a member of Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church.
She is survived by three daughters; Donna Mize, husband Billy of Little Rock, Bonnie Hawkins, Husband Charles of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dallas Baker of Southbend, Indiana, one brother Leonard Falk wife Alberta one sister Rita Treash all of Southbend, Indiana, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
There will a memorial service Thursday, December 19, 2002 at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church. Arrangements under the direction of Ruebel Funeral.

L'Moore Fontaine Alford
L'Moore Fontaine Alford, teacher, artist, died Friday, October 18th, 2002. A Little Rock resident, she was born
in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Dr. Thomas Dale and L'Moore Smith Alford. L'Moore graduated from Groveton High School in Alexandria, Virginia during her father's time representing Arkansas in the House of Representatives. While living in Washington she was named a Cherry Blossom Princess in 1960, and in 1961 was a Country Club of Little Rock Debutant as well as being selected to the prestigious National Debutant Register in Richmond, Virginia. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority, later graduating from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with her degree in English. She taught first grade at the Cathedral School, Phillips Community College, and was once a teacher of art at the Arkansas Extended Learning Center. While living in California L'Moore studied art and acting from renounced teachers that included Agnes Moorehead, Marcel Marcau, Laurie Main and Natalie O'Hare. She performed at the U.A.L.R. theatre, and Little Rock's Community Theatre. She was owner of the Exquisite Paints doing faux finishes, and murals.
She is survived by one son Robert Wheat Goss, II and wife Robin of Minturn, Colorado, one daughter Elizabeth Fontaine Alford of Little Rock, one sister Anne Maury Alford Winanns of Little Rock and 2 grandchildren Pearl and Isabella Goss.
There will be a visitation at the Ruebel Funeral Home Sunday from 5 to 7P.M. followed by a funeral service Monday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral at 11 A.M. officiated by The Very Reverend Henry Hudson and The Reverend Canon R. Ewing Jackson. Burial will follow at Mount Holly Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Charles Mabern Adcock
Charles Mabern Adcock, age 66, of Little Rock, died Saturday, April 27, 2002. He was born
in Dardanelle, Arkansas later moving to Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock Senior High School, now Little Rock Central High School. He went on to graduate with a degree in Political Science, Languages and Literature from Arkansas Tech in Russellville. While in both high school and college he was a sports correspondent for the Arkansas Democrat. He also met and married
Dale Allen. After school they moved to Cherry Valley, Arkansas where Charlie coached and taught at the high school one year and in 1985 moved to Little Rock where he became the Sports Writer for the Arkansas Democrat until 1963 when he accepted the appointment of Commissioner of the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference. In 1974 he resigned his commission to be come a general agent for the Shield of Shelter Insurance Company.
Charlie loved all sports and especially fishing, golf, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Dale Allen Adcock of Little Rock, his mother Fannie Sue Walker Adcock of Little Rock, one son Charles Allen Adcock of Little Rock, one daughter Michelle Place and husband Kirk of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one brother Danny Adcock and wife Helen of Bryant, Arkansas, one sister Sue Frueauff of Little Rock, and 3 grandchildren, Laura Place, and Courtney and Cody Adcock.
There will be a visitation Tuesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Wednesday with a funeral service at the funeral home chapel at 1 P.M. Burial will be at the New Hope Cemetery
at 4 P.M. at New Hope, Arkansas.

Lillian Louise Schum Gentry
Lillian Louise Schum Gentry, age 77, died late Tuesday (December 17, 2002), afternoon in Little Rock. She was born
in Ivesdale, Illinois to Matilda and Beno Schum. Lillian was one of eleven children raised and schooled in the Catholic faith. Her husband John, sister, Jeanette Schum, and brother, Carl “Shorty” Schum predeceased her.
Lillian left school early to help provide for her younger siblings. She met and married
John Gentry in 1942. She was a military wife and lived many places with her husband, making friends easily at the different stations of duty. She and her husband adopted their only daughter and child, Beverley (Bobbie) while stationed in Germany. Her role as mother and wife gave her great joy and she devoted herself to this endeavor. Lillian loved to cook for family and friends. She was a devoted grandmother and delighted in being with her grandchildren. She lovingly embroidered crib blankets for each child, giving them lasting keepsakes.
Lillian was devastated when her “Johnny” died nine years ago. She suffered as a widow from grief as well as chronic illnesses, the ravages of aging, and physical disabilities. She voiced little complaint throughout her years of struggle.
Mrs. Gentry is survived by one child, Beverley Foster and her husband Doak, and her beloved grandchildren Annie and Joseph all of Little Rock. Eight remaining siblings, as well as many nieces and nephews, also survive her.
Heartfelt thanks to her devoted in home caregiver Bonnie Brand and long term caregivers and nurses that loved her as their own. Mrs. Gentry was cared for during her last years by compassionate physicians, Dr. Sue Ulmer and Susan Santa Cruz. Her family was blessed by their presence.
Having received her last sacrament and being in spiritual peace, Lillian will be cremated and interred with her husband in the National Cemetery
in Springfield, Illinois where a private memorial service will be held at a later time.

Beulah Smith Flinn
Beulah Smith Flinn, age 99 of Little Rock, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002. She was born
in Hamburg, Arkansas. She was the widow of J. D. Flinn. Mrs. Flinn was a past member of the First Baptist Church of Memphis, past member of the 19th Century Club of Memphis, and the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs.
She is survived by two nieces Sue Smith Tanner of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Lynne S. Young of Battle Creek, Michigan, one nephew Sam R. Smith of Little Rock, and a grand niece, Mary Hays Warmbrodt of Allison Park, Pennsylvania.
There will be a graveside service Monday, May 6th at 1 P.M. at the Memphis Memorial Park officiated by Reverend Tanner.
Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Retirement Center, 2701 Aldersgate Road, Little Rock, 72205.
Norfleet Cranford Fleming
Norfleet Cranford Fleming, age 85, of Little Rock, died December 6, 2002 at Presbyterian Village. Predeceased by husband Lige and two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Fleming is survived by sister Lucille Batte of Jackson, Mississippi; brother Lynn Cranford of Greenville Mississippi; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Neill Sloan of Lake Village; son and daughter-in-law Vic and Susan Fleming of Little Rock; grandchildren Caroline Sloan, Mary Martha Henry and husband Jason (and great-grandson Jay), and Ted Fleming, of Little Rock, Nancy Sloan of Jackson, Mississippi, and Elizabeth Fleming of Arlington, Virginia.
Mrs. Fleming was born
in Seminary and spent most of her life in Jackson and Greenville, Mississippi, before moving to Little Rock in 1996. She served for many years as an assistant in the Mississippi Senate and was an avid golfer, with a hole-in-one to her credit.
Visitation will be at Ruebel Funeral Home Sunday, 2 to 4 P.M., and at Wright & Ferguson in Jackson Tuesday, 1 to 2:30 P.M., with a 3 P.M. graveside service at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock or Presbyterian Village.
Robert Mills Feild
Robert Mills Feild, of Little Rock, died Monday, November 4, 2002, at Arkansas Hospice, St. Vincent Doctor's Hospital of alzheimers and prostate cancer. He was born
on January 17, 1921 in Little Rock to Russell Hunter and Mary Mills Feild. He graduated from Little Rock High School in 1938 and Little Rock Junior College in 1940. He served with the U.S. Army, Military Army Transport during World War II. He later received his Juris Doctrate from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1949. A long time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, he grew up in First United Methodist Church, Little Rock. He was retired from Saint Paul Insurance Company and the State Department of Education, Division of School Insurance.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irene Edwards Feild and grandchildren; Daniel Robert and Hannah Christina Feild and their parents Dr. Charles Robert and Christina Docherty Feild, Stuart Mills, Mary Kathleen, and Helen Elizabeth Feild and their parents David F. Feild and Lee Williams Feild, Rebecca Feild, John Hunter, and Brandon Edwards Camp and their parents Jean Elizabeth and Dwight Edward Camp. He was predeceased by his brother Russell H. Feild, Jr., and is also survived by a niece Reverend Nancy A. Feild and her mother Mrs. Russell H. Feild, Jr. of Metairie, Louisiana. The family would like to give their loving thanks to the staff of Arkansas Hospice Home Care, Doctor's Hospital unit, staff and C.A.R.T.I. of the University of Arkansas Medical Science Center.
A memorial service of celebration will be held Wednesday at 11 A.M. at St. Paul United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend John Fleming. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.
