Marguerite Keller Henry

Marguerite Keller Henry, age 95, of Little Rock, died icon Wednesday, May 8, 2002. She was born icon in Little Rock graduating from Little Rock High School, and the University of Arkansas before receiving her Masters in German from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She also was Dean of Women at Indiana University. In 1940 she married icon Charles Reid Henry who died icon in 1998. Her love of music and teaching was expressed by her teaching German at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a founding member of the Chamber Music Society of Little Rock. Mrs. Henry was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Aesthetic Club, The Woman's City Club and Grace Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Elsa Henry Crocker and husband Charles of Little Rock, Kate Henry Allen of Fayetteville, Arkansas, one son Charles Reid Henry, Jr. and wife Susan of Little Rock, and three grandchildren Maggie Crocker Grove and husband David, Charles Crocker, Jr., and Lee Allen.

There will a memorial service Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church officiated by Reverend James Walter. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Memorials in lieu of flowers should be made to Grace Lutheran Church or the Chamber Music Society of Little Rock.

Henry Clay Hansen

Henry Clay Hansen, age 90, of Little Rock, died icon Tuesday, September 17, 2002. Mr. Hansen was a retired area sales manager for the Olin Chemical Corp.

He is survived by two daughters, Reverend Lynn Lindsey and husband Wayne of Little Rock, Dr. Anne Hansen of Little Rock, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Friday by a funeral service at 2 P.M. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Victor Nixon.

James Knox Hamilton, Jr.

James Knox Hamilton, Jr., age 48, of Little Rock, died icon Sunday, August 25, 2002. He graduated from Parkview High School and attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was most recently employed as a screen printer at Arkansas Flag and Banner. He is preceded in death by his father James, Knox Hamilton, Sr, who died icon in 1997.

He is survived by his mother Jeane M. Hamilton, his sister Martha Hamilton Pernell and husband John of John's Island, South Carolina.

There will be a private graveside service. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Museum School Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 2137, Little Rock 72203, of The Arkansas Arts Center, where Knox enjoyed participating in the first Children's Art Program and later as an adult. Knox will always be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Edith Marshall Halberg

Edith Marshall Halberg, of Little Rock, died icon Saturday, October 19, 2002. She was born icon in Boston, Massachusetts. She was the wife of Henry Nicholas Halberg, who died icon in 1998. Edith and Henry were very active in the Audubon Society in Arkansas and Massachusetts, establishing the Edith and Henry Ecology Camp in Little Rock.

Edith is survived by three nieces; Lois Halberg Cameron of Cohasset, Massachusetts, Claire D. Shaw of Medfield, Massachusetts, Elaine Hall of Somers, Connecticut, two nephews Robert C. Marshall of Monmouth, Oregon, and Richard Halberg of Louise, Virginia.

There will a memorial service Thursday, October 31, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by The Very Reverend Henry Hudson. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Arkansas Central Audubon Society.

Virginia McCarthy

Virginia McCarthy, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011. She was the daughter of Andrew and Mary Clow Smith and was born icon June 11, 1926 in Little Rock. Formerly of Schaumburg, IL and Hot Springs Village, she resided at Sandalwood Healthcare. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Joseph McCarthy.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Little Rock and Balboa Road Baptist Church of Hot Springs Village. She retired from Quaker Oats/Pepsi Co.

Survivors are sisters, Ruth C. Locklear of Little Rock, Dorothy Kadeg of Scottsdale, AZ and 8 nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at Little Rock National Cemetery icon on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Jonathan Kelley. The family would like to thank Sandalwood Healthcare and Odyssey Hospice for their care of Virginia. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home.

Jeremy John Daniell

Jeremy John Daniell, of Little Rock, died icon Sunday, October 2, 2011. He was born icon August 14, 1953, in London, England to John Daniell and Elizabeth Russell Daniell. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Colin Barron.

Jeremy is at “Peace at Last”. He was a wonderful man who fought a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gerig’s Disease). Jeremy was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle who was a dedicated family man and caregiver, who for thirty years, worked in the cardiovascular intensive care at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He lived to help those in need and his wish was to donate his body to the Anatomical Gift Program in order to further assist medical education and research. “You will always be in our hearts.”

He is survived by his wife Lisa; children, Ryan, Paige and Liam; parents, John and Elizabeth; twin brother, James; sister-in-law, Gill; younger brother, Johnathon; mother-in-law, Barbara Barron; Bernadette and Brett Connell and other family in England, Canada, and New Zealand.

A memorial service will be held at Oak Forest United Methodist Church, 2415 Fair Park Blvd., on Friday, October 7, 2011, at 5:30 p.m. A celebration of Jeremy’s life will follow at 7 p.m. at Arkansas Flag and Banner, 800 West 9th St., Little Rock, AR. Donations, in Jeremy’s name, may be made to ALS Resarch (MDA/ALS Division/Resarch). Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home

Lucyle Rapillard Greeson

Lucyle Rapillard Greeson, 93, of Little Rock died icon in Ft.Worth on Friday, August 16, 2002. She was the widow of J. Allen Greeson a past Vice-President of Pulaski Federal Savings and Loan. She was born icon in North Little Rock to Modeste and Mary Heim Rapillard and was a graduate of Webster College in Webster Grove, MO. She served as past president of the Alter Society of Holy Souls Catholic Church, past president of the Pine Area Garden Club, charter member and former chairman of the Wednesday Book Club and charter member of The Twentieth Century Club.

Lucyle is survived by her son, Jim Allen Greeson, Jr. and his wife, Judy of Ft. Worth, TX, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

William "Bill" George, Sr.

William "Bill" George, Sr. age 83 of Little Rock died icon August 8, 2002. He was the retired Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the city of Little Rock, Arkansas. Employed by the Housing Authority in June, 1962 as Business Relocation Officer to implement the Central Little Rock Urban Renewal Project, the 10-year $25 million federal-city effort to revitalize the entire downtown. The successful project subsequently served as the catalyst for over $150 million of new development in downtown Little Rock in the 1960s. Later promotions to Operations Coordinator and Urban Renewal Officer led to appointment in March 1978 by the Board of Commissioners to Executive Director and Secretary to the board, until his retirement in July 1986.

A 23-year U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. George enlisted in 1937 and served continuously on active duty, including World War II and Korea until August I, 1960. He retired at the Pentagon as Chief Warrant Officer while serving as administrative officer on the staff of World War II hero, Admiral Arleigh Burke, then Chief of Naval Operations. An officer on Staff of Commander Task Group 7.3 the U.S. Navy arm of the Atomic Energy Commission conducting tests of nuclear devices in the Eniwetok-Bikini atolls in the South Pacific Ocean, Mr. George was a participant in over 30 multi-megaton detonations during 1956 operation REDWING and 1958 operation HARDTACK. His awards for military service included the Commendation Ribbon with Metal Pendant and Combat Distinguishing Device; U.S. Navy Good Conduct Metal with 3 stars; European-African Campaign Metal with 3 bronze stars; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Metal with 4 bronze stars; China Service WWII Occupation Metal; American Defense Metal with "A" Clasp; World War II Victory Metal; World War II Occupation Metal; Korea Service Metal with 3 stars; Korea Presidential Unit Citation; United Nations Metal for Korea Service; Philippine Liberation Metal with 2 bronze stars; and Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.

Mr. George was a 25-year member of the State, Regional and National Association of Housing and Urban Development Officials. He was honored by the Association in 1986 by award of the Distinguished Service Plaque and in 1999 was inducted into the Arkansas Housing "Hall of Fame" sponsored by the Arkansas Chapter of S.W. N.A.H.R.D. A lifetime Episcopalian, he served 2 terms on the Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Parish and was appointed by the Bishop to serve as General Chairman for the 1987 Arkansas Diocesan Convention. He had served as a Cub Master, Assistant Scout Master of Troop 196 and as Neighborhood Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a former chairman of the water safety committee, American Red Cross, Pulaski County Chapter and a volunteer and advisor for Red Cross to the John L. McClellan Memorial Veteran's Hospital, with over 2000 hours as a volunteer. Other associations and service organizations to which he belonged included Navy Mutual Aid Association; Retired Officers Association of Central Little Rock and Washington, D.C.; Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 68;Rotary Club 99 of downtown Little Rock and Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Kansas City Chapter. He received elementary education in the public schools of Dubuque, Iowa. After completing a 2-year college GED course at the University of Wisconsin he attended the Arkansas Law School and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Adolphine Fletcher Tatum George of Little Rock, two sons William D. "Dub" George, Jr. and wife Sophie of Topeka, Kansas, David George and wife Janice of Memphis, Tennessee, 4 grandchildren, one sister Kathryn Hall of Las Vegas, Nevada, and 2 brothers, James George of Torrance, California and Thomas George of Tacoma, Washington.
There will a visitation today, Sunday, from 2 to 3:30 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a funeral service Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by The Very Reverend Henry Hudson. Burial will be at Mount Holly Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Trinity Episcopal Parish or a favorite charity.

Rosemary "Missy" Wright Anderson

Rosemary Wright Anderson of Little Rock, who was universally known as Missy, died icon on Monday, September 26, 2011. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Philip S. Anderson, her children, Sidney Kenyon of Boston, Wright Anderson of Vilseck, Germany, and Kate Askew of Little Rock. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Anne Askew of New York, Elsie Kenyon of Boston, Mary Read Askew of Little Rock, William Kenyon of Boston and Paula Anderson of Vilseck, Germany, by her sisters, Kathleen Wright Atkins of Little Rock and Bridget Wright Warner of Albuquerque, and her nieces and nephew, Sarah Wright of New York, Kathleen Warner of Albuquerque, Christopher Warner of Los Angeles, and Page Atkins and Mary Mulhollan of Little Rock. Her parents were the late Edward L. and Rosemary Tuohey Wright of Little Rock. She was a member of the fifth generation of her family to live in Little Rock. She was a past president of the board of trustees of the Arkansas Arts Center and an honorary life trustee of the AAC. She began her volunteer work at the AAC as a docent, leading tours of current exhibitions, and then spent several years preparing a catalogue of the museum’s permanent collection. Three years ago, she began tutoring as a volunteer for Literacy Action of Central Arkansas, which teaches reading to adults. She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy and received a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from St. Louis University. She spent a lifetime pursuing her interests in art, Romanesque architecture and all things French. She was a sustaining member of the Fine Arts Club of Little Rock and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Little Rock. Her funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 30, 2011, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 310 West 17th Street, Little Rock. There will be a private interment icon at Roselawn Cemetery icon prior to the funeral. Funeral arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham Street, Little Rock. Memorials in lieu of flowers my be made to the Arkansas Arts Center, 501 E. 9th Street, Little Rock, or to Literacy Action of Central Arkansas, 100 N. Rock Street, Little Rock, 72201.
