Ava Leanor Bailey
Mrs. Ava Leanor Newton Bailey, age 89, resident of Dierks, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 at Howard County Memorial Hospital in Nashville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 at the Church of Christ in Dierks with James McRae, minister, officiating. Burial followed in Sunshine cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
She was born April 7, 1914 in Dierks to Joseph Henry and Julia Ette Wilkins Newton; was a retired poultry grower; and a member of the Church of Christ in Dierks. She was predeceased by her husband, Coy Thomas Bailey on April 1, 1994; and one son, Earl Thomas Bailey.
She is survived by two sons, Virgil Bailey of Dierks and Ray Bailey of Ferndale; three daughters, Olene Hendrix of Honobia, Okla., Christine Lemons of Nashville, and Judy Gibson of Frisco, Tex.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Larry Dale Deer
Larry Dale Deer, age 49, resident of Dierks, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21 in First Assembly of God Church in Dierks with Rev. Henry Bateman officiating. Burial followed in Sweet Home cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Dierks.
He was born Nov. 8, 1954 in De Queen. He was predeceased by his father, Otto Deer; one sister, Emma Harris; and one brother, Earl Deer.
He is survived by two daughters, Amanda Lawson of Dierks and Laurie Deer of Lockesburg; his mother, Mildred Deer of Dierks; three brothers, Sonny Deer of Lockesburg, Ricky Deer of Murfreesboro and Tommy Deer of Dierks; four sisters, Mary Ward, Dianne Cox and Mary Jo Alexander, all of Dierks, and Glenda Conatser of Nashville; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at the funeral home in Dierks.
Flora Stemple
Mrs. Flora Stemple, age 92, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 in the De Queen Regional Medical Center.
She was born Wednesday, July 19, 1911 in Cove, Arkansas. She attended college at S.A.U., was a homemaker and a member of the First Methodist Church in Wickes and an associate member of the First United Methodist Church in De Queen.
Mrs. Stemple was preceded in death by her husband, Cue Stemple in 1996. They were married
December 8, 1932. They resided in Wickes from 1932 to 1955. In 1955 they moved to Lovington, New Mexico where they lived until retirement in 1972. They returned to Wickes where they lived until 1989, when they moved to De Queen. She was also preceded in death by her parents: Dooley Edgar and Mona Birdsong Barton and one daughter: Mary Jo Zachry.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law: Lanita Cowden of Bakersfield, California, Donna and Jim Bevers of De Queen, Virginia and Joe Wood of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Kathy and Larry Conlee of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; one sister and brother-in-law: Joyce and Arval Lee of Texarkana, Arkansas: one son-in-law: Dave Wallis Zachry of Heppner, Oregon; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stemple will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2003 in the First United Methodist Chruch in Wickes with Rev. Joe Wood and Rev. Bill Fish officiating. Burial will follow in the Daniel cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family received friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20 at the funeral home.

Don Worley
Don Worley, age 65, resident of Lockesburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 in a Texarkana hospital.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 in Unity cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
He was born March 12, 1938 to Robert Clayburn and Opal Ruth Cushenberry Worley; was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church; and retired from Georgia Pacific. He was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Beene in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Zachary Worley of Lockesburg; one daughter, Babbie Bevill of Mineral Springs; two sons, Gary Worley and Jack Worley, both of Mineral Springs; two brothers, Bobby Worley and Jim Worley, both of De Queen; four sisters, Helen Lavely and Doris Schuiler, both of Copperas Cove, Tex., Pat Dyea of Albuquerque, NM, and Sharron Effird of Dierks; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 at the funeral home.

Darrell Wayne Gilmore
Darrell Wayne “Rock” Gilmore, age 42, resident of De Queen, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 in New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie Miller officiating. Burial followed in Sand Hill cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
He was born Aug. 12, 1961 in De Queen to Hubert Lee and Agnes Nelson Gilmore; was a member of New Zion Baptist Church; and an employee of K-2 Construction Company of Texarkana. He was predeceased by his father; and a brother, Hubert Gilmore.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Diane Mitchell Gilmore of De Queen; two daughters, Cheyenea Franklin and Raven Mitchell, both of Broken Bow, Okla.; his mother, Agnes Gilmore of De Queen; three brothers, Roy Gilmore, Creal Gilmore, and Mike Gilmore, all of De Queen; four sisters, Sharon Robertson, Louise Goodman, Lynette Gilmore and Emma Gilmore, all of De Queen; two step-grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the funeral home.
Daisy Marie Willmon
Daisy Marie Bohanan Willmon, age 63, resident of Idabel, Okla., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 in Tulsa Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 9, 1940 at Broken Bow, Okla., to Phoebe Bohanan Hudson; was a member of Mt. Ford Presbyterian Church at Eagletown, Okla.; and worked for senior citizens. She was predeceased by her mother; two half-sisters, Pauline Hampton and Velma Battiest; one half-brother, J.B. Hudson.
She is survived by three half-brothers, Daniel Hudson of Eagletown, Okla., James Hudson of Ft. Towson, Okla., and Edwin Hudson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 in Mt. Ford Presbyterian Church at Eagletown with Rev. Gene Wilson officiating, under the direction of Brumley Funeral Home of Broken Bow, Okla.
Naomi Bearden
Mrs. Naomi Tennessee Jackson Bearden, age 101, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, left this life on December 5, 2003, at Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville.
She was born on January 5, 1902, at Dierks, to Jerome and Mary Arnold Jackson. She was a homemaker spending most of her life in the Dierks and Broken Bow, Oklahoma areas and was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lonnie Alford Bearden in 1992; a daughter, Mary Verdell High in 1999; two granddaughters; five brothers, and four sisters.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Odell and Violet Bearden of Abilene, Texas and Chelsa and Maria Bearden of Dierks; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bearden were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003, at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Elder Richard Leach officiating. Burial followed in the Hickory Grove cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Granville David Jones
Granville David Jones, age 79, resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 in De Queen Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thomas Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill cemetery.
He was born Sept. 18, 1924 in Iola, Kan., to Richard A. and Viola Hurless Jones; was a retired truck driver; and a Baptist. He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Miller Jones of De Queen; one son, Charles Jones of Covington, La.; one daughter, Marsha Sanders of De Queen; two sisters, Margie Knight of Hatton and Eva Wooten of Wickes; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
